You Were Told to Design Software, But You Created Tiktok?!

102: Section 102There was also a large number of potential mobile game players who had not yet surfaced.

These players, having never played mobile games before, naturally didn’t pay attention to the mobile game sector and could only be found in other sections of various platforms.

And Wang Mo was very confident in the quality of Honor of Kings.

He knew that as long as he could attract these people to download Honor of Kings, he could make them stay.

To attract players outside the current mobile game player base, it was essential to break out of the usual circles and first let these people know the name of the game, Honor of Kings.

The Wei Da Xian incident just provided an opening for this breakout.

Therefore, promoting Honor of Kings through other channels in the coming period was indeed the best timing.

The most crucial point was that if Honor of Kings were promoted in the game sector, Penguin Group would definitely intervene, using Dota Mobile to overshadow Honor of Kings with greater traffic in the same sector.

But if it were other sectors, Penguin Group would not act.

Because in their eyes, the number of mobile game players in Yan Country was already fixed, and even if Honor of Kings promoted itself in other sectors, even if it attracted users to download, it simply wouldn’t be able to retain those who never played mobile games.

And the reality was largely as Wang Mo had expected.

When they began to extensively advertise Honor of Kings through other channels, there was no movement within Penguin Group.

From Penguin Group’s perspective, this was Honor of Kings giving up, thinking that since they were blocking their ad placements in the game sections of major platforms, they would go to other places.

And they naturally wouldn’t stop such an action, which in Penguin Group’s eyes was completely a waste of money.

However, Penguin Group never would have thought that Wang Mo was targeting the many potential mobile game users who had not yet surfaced!

In a female dormitory of a university in a certain city in northern Yan Country.

Xiao Tuan, who was browsing beauty videos, saw an advertisement for Honor of Kings.

After seeing this advertisement, she suddenly remembered the weibo hot search incident from a few days ago and couldn’t help but smile.

Then she spoke to the others in the dormitory, ”Hey, has anyone here played Honor of Kings? Is this game really that fun?”

”I have, this game is really fun, I’ve been playing it every day for the past two days,” the dorm leader said.

Xiao Tuan clicked her tongue.

”I’d like to download this game and try it too.”

Listening to her words, the dorm leader was stunned.

”You never play mobile games, do you? Why are you interested in this game?”

Xiao Tuan smiled.

”It’s all because of the hot search from a couple of days ago, that Wei Da Xian was too interesting.”

”Big sister, imagine if one day you found out that the son of a noodle shop owner didn’t eat noodles at his own shop, but instead ran to another noodle shop every day to eat noodles, what would you do?”

”Even if you don’t usually like to eat noodles, wouldn’t you want to try the taste of that noodle shop?”

Upon hearing this, the dorm leader smiled, thinking it really made sense.

So she smiled and said, ”Alright, then download it, I’ll play with you.”

”But I still think that someone like you, who never plays mobile games, won’t be interested in this game.”

A few hours later.

”Lost again, no, I need one more round.”

”Sister, let’s go eat first.”

”No, no, just one last round!”

Due to the impact of the Wei Da Xian incident, the number of Honor of Kings users surged wildly for several consecutive days.

Although Wang Mo had begun to tap into potential mobile game users, this was not something that could be accomplished immediately and would require a very long time.

So currently, the majority of Honor of Kings’ user base still came from existing Yan Country mobile game users.

And this group of users had a significant overlap with Dota Mobile.

After a few more days, a week after the Wei Da Xian incident, Honor of Kings’ registered users finally exceeded thirty million!

Although Dota Mobile achieved this number on its first day, the influence of the two games at their initial open beta was completely different.

Therefore, for Honor of Kings to create thirty million registered users in half a month was quite astonishing.

And only those within Honor of Kings knew how many of these thirty million registered users converted into loyal players.

Subsequently, on the fifteenth day of Honor of Kings’ open beta, Honor of Kings also publicly announced the information of thirty million registered users on Weibo.

And because the popularity of Wei Da Xian from before still lingered, this Weibo quickly climbed to the top of the hot search list.

Although its influence was far less than the previous Wei Da Xian incident, it was still not to be underestimated.

When this Weibo was posted, many users immediately understood that Honor of Kings’ rapid increase in users in a short period was largely related to Wei Da Xian.

It could even be said that without Wei Da Xian, it would probably take who knows how much longer for Honor of Kings to reach this registration volume.

And this top streamer of Dota Mobile had inadvertently advertised for a competing game, Honor of Kings.

So, in an instant, the comments under this Weibo quickly exceeded hundreds of thousands.

”Congratulations! I wonder if Honor of Kings has any events?”

”It’s hilarious, Wei Da Xian hasn’t streamed since that incident, he wasn’t fired by Douyu, was he? Douyu and Dota Mobile are both Penguin Group’s properties.”

”I think it’s highly possible! You’re a Dota Mobile streamer who brought tens of millions of users to a competing game, if they don’t fire you, who will they fire?”

”@Wei Da Xian, Da Xian, what do you think?”

”The one upstairs is too mean, but I like it.”

All of a sudden, comments @ mentioning Wei Da Xian almost completely flooded this Weibo post.

These netizens, who loved to watch drama, all wanted to see Wei Da Xian’s thoughts at that moment.

But Wei Da Xian remained silent, not issuing any statement.

At the same time, when Honor of Kings publicly announced its registered user count, within Penguin Group’s mobile game department, a meeting was in progress.

Although there were only three people in the conference room, all three were high-level executives of the Dota Mobile department.

”This Wei Da Xian, I really want to punch him to death.”

”Originally, in terms of marketing, I had Honor of Kings firmly underfoot, but I didn’t expect him to pull something like this.”

”Now Honor of Kings’ registered users have exceeded thirty million.”

”Originally, Honor of Kings didn’t even have ten million registered users.”
