123: Section 123”We can influence players’ choices, using various data to make players believe that our game is better than Honor of Kings, and that more players have chosen us.”

”When two games have extremely similar styles, the one with more users can attract even more users like a snowball.”

”That’s why I said that a state of balanced user numbers between the two sides is the most dangerous.”

”Because once the scales tip towards the other side, it will be unstoppable.”

At this point,

Xiao Ma looked at Li Wenqiu.

”Do you still think,”

”We need to launch such an exaggerated event?”

”I’m trying my best to tip the scales in our favor.”

Listening to Xiao Ma’s explanation,

Li Wenqiu finally understood his meaning.

Looking at it this way, this event was indeed necessary.

So Li Wenqiu also nodded, not saying anything more.

Seeing this,

Xiao Ma continued,

”Then there’s no need to wait; let’s announce the event.”

”We must act before Honor of Kings!”

That same evening at 8 PM,

the official Weibo for Dota Mobile announced an upcoming event.

Many players, after the recent bombardment of events from both games, were feeling a bit fatigued.

So upon seeing this message, most players’ moods didn’t even fluctuate much before clicking in.

”Another event? And it’s a month away. What is Tencent trying to do after just giving out Q Coins?”

”Most likely it’s more Q Coins or mall discounts; I’m already used to it.”

”Aren’t you tired of holding events every day?”

”Fight, Honor of Kings and Dota Mobile, keep fighting! The more intense the fight, the better it is for us players.”

However, these players, whose moods had not been greatly affected, instantly froze in place, incredibly excited, after clicking into the Weibo and reading the details.

Because the scale of this event far surpassed everything before it!

Dota Mobile named this event:

Combat Night!

On the 20th of next month,

as long as you log into Dota Mobile and complete one match, you can receive rewards like EXP cards.

If you complete three matches, you can receive an additional skin.

If you complete five matches, you can receive another Epic or higher-grade skin!

As soon as this event information was released,

it instantly ignited the entire network!

Tencent’s unprecedented event scale constantly appeared on hot search lists across major social platforms.

No one had expected that

Tencent would bleed so much this time!

Previous Tencent games had never offered such massive welfare giveaways!

And this time,

the requirements for this event were also quite simple: no top-ups, no daily check-ins.

··········Requesting flowers

You only needed to complete matches on the day of the event to claim rewards.

The scale of this event instantly made countless players excited.

In a short time,

comments under this Weibo post for dota mobile game exceeded one million.

”Are they crazy? What on earth happened inside Tencent to give away so many skins!”

”Is this Combat Night? Let’s fight!”

”I’m going crazy too. Before clicking on this hot search, I thought there were too many events recently and felt a bit weary. Now I just want to fly to next month immediately.”

”Before clicking in: ’Another event? How boring.’ After clicking in: ’Dota Mobile, you are my god!’”

”Everyone, while you’re thanking Tencent, don’t forget Honor of Kings. If there wasn’t competition from Honor of Kings, would Tencent be so generous?”

”That’s true. But Dota Mobile is doing this, so isn’t Honor of Kings going to do something?”

Regarding the outside discussions,

Honor of Kings did not make any response.

And after this day,

almost all Dota Mobile players were frantically anticipating the arrival of this day.

At the same time,

many players who had switched from Dota Mobile to Honor of Kings, unable to resist the temptation, re-downloaded Dota Mobile.

After all, before, Dota Mobile only gave out a few or a dozen Q Coins at most.

But this time,

they were directly giving out skins, two at once, and one of them was guaranteed to be a high-quality skin!

Such a welfare had never appeared in any game before.

However,

although Honor of Kings appeared to do nothing on the surface,

in reality,

while Tencent was fully preparing for the upcoming Combat Night event internally, Wang Mo increased game promotion in Lower-Tier Market and other areas that Tencent looked down upon.

..... .... 0

Originally,

Honor of Kings had been relatively cautious in exploring potential mobile game users in other areas, not wanting Dota Mobile to discover them.

And even with this caution, out of Honor of Kings’ current forty million users, ten million still came from these potential player groups.

This is enough to show how exaggerated the number of these potential players is.

And now,

because Tencent’s attention was no longer on this aspect, Honor of Kings increased its advertising in other markets.

For a time,

more and more players who had never played mobile games before were attracted by Honor of Kings, becoming part of Honor of Kings’ user base.

And all of this,

Tencent’s internal team had no idea.

However,

as if to counter Dota Mobile’s upcoming Combat Night,

half a month after the Combat Night event was announced, Honor of Kings pushed out a massive update.

In this update,

Honor of Kings introduced a series of brand new modes and maps, and even strengthened the AI bots.

Infinite Brawl, 3v3 new map, Dream Grand Brawl, Clone Mode, and so on.

Several new maps and modes were simultaneously added to the game.

However, these modes were not all open at the same time; different modes would open at different times each week.

For example, Monday to Wednesday would be a certain mode, Wednesday to Friday another mode, and so on.

Besides these,

the AI bots, which had been criticized by many players, also had more difficulty options and were strengthened.

Now, the highest difficulty AI bots in Honor of Kings already had the strength of Diamond rank players.

On the day this update was released,
