You Were Told to Design Software, But You Created Tiktok?!

141: Section 141Listening to Pony’s voice, Ma Liuyun did not speak further, slumping back into the chair behind him.

At this moment, his face was utterly devoid of color, appearing exceptionally worn.

He had been responsible for several major projects, each completed to a very high degree; one could even say that since he joined Penguin Group, he had never failed.

But now.

Facing a company established only a few years ago, a company that had never made games before.

He had lost, lost effortlessly, lost without any power to fight back.

In a single office, in an environment with only two people, he was declared a complete failure.

Actually.

When he saw the plummeting user numbers after the promotion ended, he already knew that Dota Mobile was no match for Honor of Kings.

He just refused to believe it.

That’s why he went to Pony, hoping Pony would allocate him more budget; as long as Dota Mobile could keep pushing, he could keep deceiving himself.

But Pony’s words…

Indeed, they directly and completely ended the life of Dota Mobile.

Within Penguin Group, a second-rate software was never given much attention.

Once Dota Mobile was confirmed not to be a match for Honor of Kings, all resources allocated to Dota Mobile would be withdrawn.

It is feared that for some time after that.

Dota Mobile users would inevitably flow towards Honor of Kings, no matter what they did, they could not stop this trend.

Dota Mobile could almost be declared dead at this moment.

Subsequently.

Pony slowly stood up, walked over to Ma Liuyun, and patted him on the shoulder.

“The Wu Town gathering is in another month; come with me to relax.”

“You need to adjust your mindset now.”

“As for Dota Mobile, I will transfer you away very soon.”

After speaking, Pony turned and left the office.

Only Ma Liuyun, with his pale face, remained.

In the period that followed, Dota Mobile showed no other activity.

Users also continuously flowed towards Honor of Kings.

In just one month.

The user count of Dota Mobile dropped from fifty million after promotion to thirty million.

And this number was still continuously decreasing.

Everyone understood.

At this point, Dota Mobile was not far from shutting down its servers.

At the same time.

The development of Honor of Kings was becoming smoother and smoother.

Various new skins and new heroes were continuously released at a steady pace.

During the same period when Dota Mobile’s user count dropped to thirty million.

The official Honor of Kings Weibo released a celebratory announcement and launched various events.

Announcing that Honor of Kings had become the first mobile game in Yan Country to surpass 100 million daily active users!

This achievement, a few months ago, no one would have believed.

After all, at that time, the total mobile game player base in Yan Country was only sixty million.

But now.

Just Honor of Kings alone had reached 100 million daily active users.

All at once.

Countless celebratory comments directly flooded the comment section of Honor of Kings’ official Weibo.

“Holy cow, it directly surged to 100 million? I remember it was only sixty million not long ago?”

“Congratulations, congratulations, another record broken at last.”

“Your company is truly terrifying; whatever you do succeeds. Is your boss even human?”

“But how did you discover that Yan Country still has so many potential mobile game users? Many people around me who never played games before are now playing Honor of Kings every day.”

“@Dota Mobile, how are you doing lately? You’re not going to shut down, are you?”

“If Dota Mobile doesn’t change, it will certainly still have a large number of core players, but now that you’ve changed it to be almost identical to Honor of Kings, why would people play your pirated version?”

Originally, the rivalry between Honor of Kings and Dota Mobile could have ended at this stage.

The fate of Dota Mobile was already sealed; with the passage of time, Dota Mobile’s users would become fewer and fewer, eventually unable to sustain server operations, and then it would be shut down.

Most players also felt this way.

But at this moment, everyone was unaware.

To spite Honor of Kings, Dota Mobile internally was brewing a huge update, preparing to forcibly bind Dota Mobile to the QQ social feature.

Little did they know.

Their decision.

Would unleash a behemoth that could truly shake the Penguin Group!.

Chapter 95: The Potential of Social Features Discovered, Penguin’s Last Struggle

Three days after Honor of Kings announced its daily active users exceeded 100 million.

Inside Penguin Group.

Ma Liuyun and several senior executives of Dota Mobile had just knocked on Pony’s office door.

“Come in.”

Pony’s voice echoed in the office.

Then everyone entered, with Ma Liuyun at the forefront, holding a stack of documents, his expression quite excited.

“Is there something wrong?”

Looking at the few people who suddenly came to him, Pony was also puzzled.

“Mr. Ma.”

“We are here about Dota Mobile.”

Ma Liuyun’s tone was quite agitated and.

But listening to these words, Pony couldn’t help but frown.

“Didn’t I already say?”

“You don’t need to worry about Dota Mobile anymore; in any case, it won’t be long before the users of that game will likely flow towards Honor of Kings.”

“I also issued your transfer order a long time ago.”

“Why did you suddenly come to me again?”

Listening to Pony’s voice, Ma Liuyun quickly placed the documents in his hand in front of Pony.

“Mr. Ma.”

“There’s still a chance.”

“What still has a chance?” Pony frowned.

“Dota Mobile still has a chance.”

“Although I also understand that we cannot stop the rise of Honor of Kings, nor can we compete with it for the position of the top MOBA mobile game.”

“But Dota Mobile doesn’t necessarily only have the option of shutting down.”

“I have a way to keep Dota Mobile alive; although the user count will certainly never compare to Honor of Kings again, at least it can retain two to three million users.”

“I know doing this doesn’t have much meaning, but at least we can keep annoying Honor of Kings and cut off Honor of Kings’ ambition to monopolize the MOBA game pie.”

Ma Liuyun’s voice was exceptionally excited.

He just didn’t want Honor of Kings to have an easy time.

“Mr. Ma.”
