125: Section 125Listening to her friend’s voice, Xue’er’s eyes lit up with a hint of surprise.

”Really?”

Her friend nodded.

”If you’re afraid of being flamed in matchmaking, you can practice your skills in AI matches and other modes first.”

”And now in-game chat allows you to mute teammates, so if anyone flames you, just block them!”

Listening to her friend, Xue’er nodded eagerly.

”You guys wait for me after this match.”

”I’m going to reinstall Honor of Kings right now!”

After this update was launched for Honor of Kings,

it greatly increased the retention of new players.

Originally, Wang Mo hadn’t noticed this point.

But he found that after they increased their promotional investment in Honor of Kings a while ago, they did attract more potential users who had never played mobile games.

This group of potential users who had never played mobile games was referred to by Wang Mo as pure new players.

Although the number of new players increased significantly during this period,

the retention of these new players was lower than that of new players one or two months ago.

After some thought,

Wang Mo finally discovered that a major reason for this problem was that the skill level of Honor of Kings’ first batch of players had already reached a relatively high level.

Many players also began to focus on their ranks.

Therefore, they valued winning and losing even more.

Under such circumstances, a large number of new players who joined later, due to their lack of skill, were often flamed and had a poor gaming experience, eventually choosing to quit the game.

And this,

was not what Wang Mo wanted to see.

However, at that time, Honor of Kings indeed did not provide a good environment for these new players.

That’s why Wang Mo launched this update.

Whether it was the new map or the new modes, the experience for new players in these matches would be much better.

Coupled with the strengthened AI, it gave this group of new players a place to practice their skills.

So, not long after this update was released,

the retention of subsequent new players began to increase continuously.

Although Wang Mo had stopped competing with Dota Mobile for the original sixty million mobile game users,

the daily active user count of Honor of Kings

was skyrocketing at an incredible rate.

Meanwhile, within Penguin Group,

preparations were still underway for Combat Night, which was half a month away.

No employee at Penguin Group realized what Honor of Kings was doing at that moment.

And as time quietly passed,

time

soon finally arrived half a month later.

On this day,

Dota Mobile’s Combat Night event officially went live!

At this moment,

the employees of Penguin Group’s mobile game department finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Many people had initially thought that Honor of Kings’ update half a month ago was just a smokescreen, and Honor of Kings would definitely launch a similar event on the same day.

However, until Dota Mobile’s event officially began, Honor of Kings made no moves.

It only unlocked all modes for players to enjoy on this day.

But this action was essentially no different from doing nothing.

This directly indicated that

Honor of Kings internally truly did not intend to launch any similar events on this day to seize Dota Mobile’s user base.

For Penguin Group,

this was indeed very good news.

Even Penguin Group’s mobile game department was preparing to pop the champagne early.

On that day,

as Dota Mobile’s Combat Night event began,

the top weibo hot search was also the four characters ”Combat Night.”

Previously, players who had registered for Dota Mobile, regardless of whether they had uninstalled Dota Mobile due to Honor of Kings later, mostly re-downloaded Dota Mobile on this day.

After all, an event that offered two skins just for playing five matches had never appeared in Yan Country before.

And the influence of this event

was indeed within Penguin Group’s expectations.

The number of players logging into the game that day even approached the peak number when Dota Mobile first launched.

It should be noted that

during this period,

a large number of players had already switched to Honor of Kings, and many core Dota Mobile players had firmly uninstalled Dota Mobile due to changes in Dota Mobile.

Yet, even so,

Dota Mobile was still able to achieve such results,

which sufficiently illustrates how exaggerated the impact of this Combat Night was on players.

Moreover, these players didn’t just log in and leave;

they also had to complete several matches.

At the same time,

due to the influx of a large number of players, Dota Mobile’s War Order and treasure hunt system, which copied Honor of Kings, saw their revenue explode on this day.

From every perspective,

this Combat Night was the most successful event launched by any opponent Junzi Group had ever encountered, without exception.

Previous attempts by Weikan Pinduoduo had never launched such effective events or plans.

This sufficiently demonstrates that Penguin Group’s core gaming business is indeed not something ordinary companies can contend with or resist.

When it comes to understanding player psychology,

Penguin Group is truly adept.

Yet, facing such a terrifying offensive,

Honor of Kings seemed to have no reaction at all.

Aside from opening up access to all modes on that day, there were no other actions.

They didn’t even launch a discount event or anything.

This left many players somewhat disappointed.

And under the Combat Night hot search tag, players who completed five matches the fastest also began sharing the skins they received.

In an instant,

comments under this hot search directly exceeded hundreds of thousands.

”This event is truly amazing! The second skin I got after playing five matches was actually a Legendary skin!”

”Damn, upstairs, you’re too lucky! This skin is a new one.”

”I’m out of luck; the heroes for both skins aren’t ones I like to play.”

”Practice them! These two skins are also very cool; what’s wrong with practicing a hero for a skin...?”

”Why didn’t Honor of Kings launch an event? It’s a bit of a shame.”

”Upstairs, you can come to Dota Mobile.”
