You Were Told to Design Software, But You Created Tiktok?!

144: Section 144As Penguin Group reinvested heavily in Dota Mobile, striving to slow down user loss, many external companies found Penguin’s actions quite incomprehensible.

They didn’t understand why Penguin would invest effort in a game that was destined to fail.

However, at present, no company has delved deeply into Penguin’s behavior.

Almost all major internet companies were currently focused on another matter: this year’s Wu Town Internet Summit.

The Wu Town Internet Summit is held annually in Wu Town, and in addition to various discussions on the future direction of the internet market, each year’s internet conference features a signature event.

That is, inviting several internet tycoons to discuss various topics on stage.

Of course, this discussion, in the words of many netizens, is what is called ’internet tycoons clashing.’

Because this discussion is not only about future internet trends but may also involve discussing the potential of a certain software or internet company.

Under such discussions, many tycoons with conflicts would engage in verbal sparring, sarcasm, and denigration on stage.

Ostensibly praising the other party, in reality, they were subtly undermining them.

Many internet conferences have given birth to numerous famous scenes.

For example, Lei Mi, who makes phones, once said at a discussion forum that in the soil of Yan Country, in addition to internet companies like Ali Group, his own phone company, which became the world’s third-largest in just a few years, could also be born.

And Ma Liuyun was immediately displeased when he heard this, because he had his own pride; how could a phone company be compared to his own, the number one internet enterprise in Yan Country?

So he immediately said, ”The meaning of our Ali Group’s existence is to incubate companies like Lei Mi,” instantly elevating his own status.

Such scenes almost always appear at every internet conference.

And this year’s internet conference garnered significant attention days before it even began.

Not for any other reason, but because among the invited guests for this year’s internet conference, in addition to the regular attendee, the chairman of Penguin Group, there was also Wang Mo, the founder of Junzi Group, the most brilliant new internet star in Yan Country in the past two years.

You should know that not long ago, Honor of Kings and Dota Mobile, both under their respective leadership, were locked in an intense battle.

But not long after, the two were actually going to appear on stage together.

Moreover, Penguin Group’s competition with Junzi Group in this core business had completely fallen into a disadvantage.

The daily active users of Dota Mobile were gradually decreasing, while Honor of Kings’s daily active users had already exceeded 100 million.

Having the chairman debate with someone who had just defeated him was in itself a very compelling event.

Furthermore, it was quite dramatic that these two could appear on stage simultaneously.

Originally, after learning that the other guest was Wang Mo, the chairman had already declined the invitation.

But strangely, just three days before the internet conference, the chairman suddenly accepted the invitation and was willing to appear on stage with Wang Mo.

And the very next day, Dota Mobile began launching various activities to slow down the rate of user loss.

No one outside would believe that there was no connection between the two.

Many people felt that something must have happened within Penguin Group on that day, causing Penguin Group to be unwilling to completely abandon Dota Mobile, and it was precisely because of this incident that the chairman was willing to share the stage with Wang Mo.

As for Wang Mo’s experience, it is also legendary.

Two years ago, his name could not be found in Yan Country’s internet field.

Last year, the Douyin developed by Wang Mo had just defeated Weikan.

Although Douyin, under Wang Mo, had already established itself and began to develop, he had not received an invitation at that time.

But no one expected that in the following year, Wang Mo successively launched Pinduoduo and Honor of Kings, completely making a name for himself in Yan Country.

Pinduoduo directly dethroned Ali Group’s Taobao, becoming the market leader.

As for Honor of Kings, it was even more exaggerated.

Although it was launched after Dota Mobile, with an unstoppable wave of momentum, it directly crippled Penguin Group’s core gaming business, leaving Dota Mobile with no power to fight back.

After these two software products were launched, everyone already understood that Douyin’s success was not just luck, but a true display of strength, unlike some other ephemeral internet companies.

So this year, Wang Mo was not only invited but also became an important guest.

Such a change in status would have been unbelievable to many just a year ago.

However, regardless, after the news that Wang Mo would share the stage with the chairman was released, it immediately attracted countless eyes.

The day before the internet conference, information about the two sharing the stage even directly topped the weibo hot search!

The comments below were also quite exciting.

”OMG, the chairman and Wang Mo are going to be on stage together? These two have been fighting fiercely since Douyin, and before that, Honor of Kings and Dota Mobile also battled for quite some time. Now they can actually sit together.”

”Penguin Group is also pitiful; it was originally a constantly victorious enterprise, hardly ever losing, but after Junzi Group was established, from Weikan to Dota Mobile, Penguin can be said to have suffered continuous defeats.”

”Interesting, interesting. I remember the chairman is quite petty, isn’t he? He actually agreed to share the stage with Wang Mo.”

”I heard it’s even live-streamed! I must watch!”

”With these two on stage, they will definitely discuss the previous MOBA mobile game market. I’m curious to see what they will say.”

”The chairman has always faced his defeated opponents before. This time he finally has to face someone who defeated him. Exciting!”

Although there was still one day until the internet conference, this session of the internet conference had undoubtedly already attracted many people’s attention.

And under the attention of countless people, the next day quickly arrived.

The next day, Wu Town, Jiangcheng.

Inside the main venue of the internet conference, countless current internet tycoons of Yan Country were seated in different positions.

Since the final segment had not yet begun, the chairman and others had not yet gone on stage and were still in different positions below the stage.

At this time, another group of people was on stage, discussing what the next internet trend would be.

In a corner, the chairman was conversing with some other internet tycoons.

”This is Ma Liuyun, the current Vice President of Penguin Group.”

The chairman was introducing Ma Liuyun, who was behind him, to these people.

Although the Dota Mobile project had temporarily failed, Ma Liuyun’s ability was indeed not to be underestimated.
