You Were Told to Design Software, But You Created Tiktok?!

134: Section 134At the same time, within Junzi Group.

Half a month after the large-scale promotion of Dota Mobile.

Honor of Kings Department.

”I’m dying of laughter. We haven’t done anything for the past half-month, yet the number of users has soared by over ten million.”

Looking at the recent Honor of Kings data, Zhang Fan couldn’t help but laugh.

At this moment, everyone was in Zhou Qiang’s office.

Listening to Zhang Fan’s laughter, Wang Mo also murmured, ”However, half a month has passed, and Penguin Group should be realizing the problem soon.”

”Once they discover that the retention rate of the new users they attracted is not high, they will quickly realize the true purpose of the new mode and new map we launched last time, as well as the strengthened AI bots.”

”When they discover that Honor of Kings has already made changes to increase the retention of new players, they will likely copy us without delay.”

”But it’s already too late.”

Wang Mo smiled as he looked at Zhou Qiang and the others.

”Next, Honor of Kings will launch the most crucial update to deliver the final blow to Dota Mobile!”

Chapter 92: Launching the Ranking System, the Final Step to Kill Dota!

Just half a month after the large-scale promotion of Dota Mobile.

After a massive bombardment of potential mobile game players, Penguin Group finally discovered something was amiss.

Although they could attract a large number of new players, the retention rate of these players was extremely low.

However, in Honor of Kings next door, the retention of new players was much higher than theirs.

They then distributed surveys to a large number of new player users on QQ.

Finally, through the survey, they learned that during this period, a significant portion of the player base they attracted, after experiencing Dota Mobile, ultimately chose Honor of Kings.

Upon learning of this situation, Penguin Group began to take this problem seriously and quickly discovered the reason.

The current game environment of Dota Mobile was extremely unfriendly to new players!

At this point, Penguin Group finally understood the true purpose of the last update launched by Honor of Kings.

Those new modes and new maps, in addition to increasing the diversity of game modes, most crucially provided new players with a relatively good environment.

Most importantly, the strengthened AI bot system in Honor of Kings’ last update became the best place for many new players to train their skills!

And after realizing this, Penguin Group immediately slowed down the promotion of Dota Mobile and began to do what they were most familiar with: copying!

At this time, in a conference room within Penguin Group.

”It’s decided.”

”Immediately instruct all technical department employees to fully focus on copying the new modes and new maps previously launched by Honor of Kings.”

”At the same time, strengthen the AI bot intensity in Dota Mobile.”

”Whatever Honor of Kings did before, Dota Mobile will do the same now.”

Pony’s voice echoed in the room.

Listening to him, someone in the room spoke, ”I still think promotion is also very important; we can’t just stop it like this.”

Someone’s voice rang out in the room.

Listening to this person, Pony directly shook his head.

”Haven’t you seen the retention rate of Dota Mobile before?”

”Our large-scale promotion didn’t retain many users; the conversion rate is very low.”

”Moreover, a significant portion of the users not retained by Dota Mobile went to Honor of Kings.”

”On average, for every three to four users we add, Honor of Kings adds two.”

”This situation is too unfavorable for us.”

”If we continue with mindless promotion, we will only benefit Honor of Kings for free.”

Listening to Pony’s explanation, the speaker finally nodded.

At this moment, Pony’s expression also showed a hint of regret.

”Initially, I didn’t realize the importance of the game environment, so I lost a great opportunity and worked for Honor of Kings for half a month for nothing.”

Pony looked at Li Wenqiu.

”I remember you mentioned at the time that the technical department had already begun preliminary copying of the new modes launched by Honor of Kings, but I interrupted their work.”

”Now it seems that my decision at that time was indeed wrong.”

After Pony finished speaking, Li Wenqiu also shook his head and said, ”Actually, it’s not your fault, Mr. Ma. At that time, no one in the group realized that Honor of Kings’ previous update was for new players.”

”But now that we’ve reacted, it should not be too late.”

Pony was silent for a moment.

”I hope so.”

”Actually, I should have thought of it earlier.”

”Every update of Honor of Kings is not without reason. They discovered potential mobile game users so much earlier than us, so they must have realized early on that the retention of these new players was not high, and therefore they would definitely find ways to improve the retention of such players.”

”How could I have thought that Honor of Kings’ previous update was merely for the diversity of game modes, such a superficial reason?”

Pony shook his head, feeling quite annoyed now.

Then, he looked at the others.

”Alright, if there’s nothing else, let’s adjourn the meeting.”

”For the next period, you must fully dedicate yourselves to developing new modes, new maps, and strengthening the AI bots!”

”I just hope that in the coming time, Honor of Kings will also calm down and not cause any more trouble.”

”Otherwise, our energy really won’t be enough.”

After the meeting, Penguin Group immediately went full throttle to copy the new modes launched by Honor of Kings.

At the same time, they were frantically modifying the behavior logic of the AI bot mode in Dota Mobile, increasing their difficulty.

The former was actually not difficult, as they only needed to copy Honor of Kings.

However, adjusting the AI of the AI bot mode was not simple, so this aspect could hold up Dota Mobile for quite some time.

Just as Penguin Group was hoping Honor of Kings would not take any action, on the third day after Penguin Group fully began developing new modes...
