Entertainment: Wanted to Acquire the Company on the First Day of Signing

139: How much money do you have that you dare to try and take advantage of me?Guo Yang continued, ”Shanhai Entertainment has many S-rank projects in the second half of the year, as well as quite a few film projects with investments over 300 million. We’d like to invite President Lu and Miss Wu Yao to cooperate with us.”

”Miss Wu Yao’s image matches perfectly with the female lead of a modern drama we’re preparing. I wonder if we might have the honor of inviting Miss Wu Yao to play the lead role.”

Hearing the invitation to be the female lead, Wu Yao was initially pleasantly surprised, but then she remembered Su Jixing’s instructions before they arrived.

Wu Yao instinctively looked at Lu Qingyu. Although her younger brother was young, he felt very reliable to her. Lu Qingyu’s cold attitude toward Guo Yang suggested that this person might be difficult to work with.

”Thank you for your appreciation, CEO Guo. If there’s any business cooperation, you can contact my Agent.”

Guo Yang took out his phone and asked, ”Miss Wu, could you give me your Agent’s contact information?”

Wu Yao gave out her secondary WeChat account; she had done this before.

It was fine not to have an Agent before, but now the level of film and television dramas she was dealing with was getting higher, and the amounts of money involved were increasing. Without an Agent, she would seem like an easy target. So, until she found one, Wu Yao simply posed as her own Agent.

Guo Yang already had Su Jixing’s contact info, but he felt it wasn’t enough, so he asked Lu Qingyu.

”President Lu, let’s exchange contact information as well.”

Lu Qingyu didn’t want to deal with such a person: ”I didn’t bring my phone. Maybe next time.”

Guo Yang remembered seeing Lu Qingyu taking photos with his phone just now; it was clear he just didn’t want to add him.

But it didn’t matter. Once he introduced that immense fortune from Tang Yin to him, there would be plenty of time for Lu Qingyu to be grateful.

”President Lu, Miss Wu, let me introduce you to CEO Tang.”

”You know CEO Tang, right? The developer of Yunting Haoxin and a famous investor.”

Wu Yao was a little surprised to hear the name ”Yunting Haoxin.” That was a place where only the famous and wealthy could afford to live. The cheapest houses there cost 200,000 per square meter, and in the centers of first-tier cities, prices reached as high as 760,000 per square meter.

As the developer of Yunting Haoxin, he must be incredibly wealthy.

As Guo Yang spoke, he pointed toward Tang Yin. Tang Yin was standing in the crowd holding a glass of wine, and he nodded when he saw Guo Yang’s direction.

Guo Yang thought Lu Qingyu and Wu Yao would immediately follow him upon hearing ”Yunting Haoxin,” but Lu Qingyu only gave a faint glance:

”Sorry, I’m off the clock. What about you, Sister Yao?”

Hearing Lu Qingyu’s refusal, Guo Yang’s face instantly soured. Truly someone from a small place, so ungrateful. Did he really not understand how powerful and wealthy Tang Yin was?

However, he had already promised Tang Yin. If he couldn’t invite Lu Qingyu, he would lose a lot of face.

Guo Yang: ”Mr. Tang has invested in many projects, each worth over a hundred million. He really admires President Lu. Just going over to say hello won’t take much of President Lu’s time.”

Seeing that Lu Qingyu wasn’t going, Wu Yao naturally wouldn’t go either.

”I’m off the clock too.”

Lu Qingyu: ”Then let’s go.”

”CEO Guo, see you when I see you.”

With that, Lu Qingyu led Wu Yao away without looking back.

Tang Yin watched their departing backs, his brow furrowing. His gaze toward Guo Yang was filled with questioning.

Guo Yang was also fuming. Lu Qingqingyu was ungrateful, and Wu Yao was actually just as ungrateful.

Seeing Tang Yin’s gaze, Guo Yang approached with a fawning, cheerful smile:

”CEO Tang, I’m terribly sorry. Lu Qingyu and Wu Yao have an event later. They wanted to come over and say hello, but they would’ve been late if they didn’t leave immediately.”

”But don’t worry, CEO Tang. Miss Wu Yao admires you very much. I’ll arrange for her to meet you in a couple of days.”

Tang Yin was finally satisfied.

Leaving the venue, Lu Qingyu led Wu Yao into the nanny van. Su Jixing was waiting for them to come out so he could take them home, but he hadn’t expected them to leave so early.

”Out so soon? Why didn’t you stay a bit longer?”

Lu Qingyu: ”Do you know Guo Yang?”

Hearing the name, Su Jixing immediately turned around: ”The general manager of Shanhai Entertainment. Did he approach you? Don’t pay him any mind. Not a word of truth comes out of his mouth, he loves making empty promises, and he’s prone to shady dealings.”

Su Jixing spoke somewhat vaguely in front of Lu Qingyu and Wu Yao, but in reality, many in the industry called Guo Yang a ’pimp.’ He specialized in sacrificing his company’s artists to gain status. Any artist signed to Shanhai Entertainment was cursed with eight lifetimes of bad luck.

Lu Qingyu: ”Then do you know Tang Yin?”

Hearing this name, Su Jixing’s brow furrowed into a deep frown.

”He was there too? A wealthy tycoon, but his character is subpar. He didn’t set his sights on you, did he?”

After saying that last sentence, Su Jixing broke into a cold sweat.

Lu Qingyu: ”Based on my judgment today, I don’t think so.”

Su Jixing breathed a long sigh of relief, but Lu Qingyu’s next sentence sent his heart straight into a frying pan.

”He’s likely targeted both me and Wu Yao.”

Wu Yao: ”???”

Su Jixing: ”Shit.”

This was a bit troublesome. Lu Qingyu was fine; with his current status in the industry, as long as he didn’t want to do something, few could force him. But Wu Yao was different. Although she was popular now, she had no company and no background.

Wu Yao panicked instantly. There were too many cautionary tales in the industry. She didn’t want to take shortcuts, and she certainly didn’t want to be used as a shortcut. If she had wanted to do that, why would she have spent seven or eight years as an extra? She didn’t need it then, and especially now that she had finally made it, she didn’t want to ruin herself.

Seeing Wu Yao’s nervous state, Su Jixing immediately comforted her:

”Don’t be nervous. Your brother was just speaking casually; nothing’s happened yet.”

Wu Yao felt her phone vibrate. Her secondary account was set to automatically accept friend requests. Opening it, she saw a message from Guo Yang.

”Hello, I’m Guo Yang from Shanhai Entertainment. We would like to invite Miss Wu Yao to star as the female lead in a film and television drama. I wonder if Miss Wu Yao is free tomorrow night to discuss it at the Zeus Hotel.”

Wu Yao’s face turned a bit pale. Discussing a project at a hotel, and at night—the motive was clearly impure.

But the other party was so powerful; it wouldn’t be good to offend them. What should she do?

Lu Qingyu saw Wu Yao’s expression sour after reading the message.

”Sister Yao, what’s wrong?”

Feeling wronged, Wu Yao showed the content on her phone to Lu Qingyu and Su Jixing.

”Is it bad if I don’t go? If I offend them, will I be blacklisted?”

Lu Qingyu gave a cold laugh. This person was truly impatient.
