Entertainment: Wanted to Acquire the Company on the First Day of Signing

134: Wolf Warrior ExplosionLu Qingyu felt that Meng Wei was a very interesting person. If you said he was stupid, he was the head of the largest entertainment company in the industry; but if you said he was smart, he always managed to do something foolish like handing over easy wins to the enemy.

Lu Qingyu: ”This President Meng must be very confident that our movie won’t achieve any good results.”

Wang Ning: ”Hiss, he’s being a bit too arrogant.”

Lu Qingyu: ”Arrogance is good. Otherwise, how would so many people help us with promotion?”

”Post a Weibo to thank President Meng, and then interact with those artists who promoted our movie.”

”We’ll accept this gift.”

With the help of opponents like the Sixth Princess and Xiangwan Entertainment, the popularity of the movie Wolf Warrior rose significantly. The original pre-sale ticket count was over 700,000, but it had now reached 2 million.

The May Day slot arrived. On this day when the whole nation was on holiday, cinemas saw their highest attendance rates, with almost every theater showing a sold-out status.

Wang Ning specifically took a stroll through the cinemas below and found that the movie burning still had the most viewers.

After a day of waiting, the box office statistics for various movies were released at 9:00 AM the next morning.

burning ranked first on the May Day box office chart with 76 million, while Wolf Warrior ranked 16th out of 21 films with a box office of 2.3 million.

Early in the morning, the assistant brought these statistics to Meng Wei. After Meng Wei finished reading, his entire face was glowing with success.

The momentum of the movie produced by their company was so strong that it could break 100 million in two days. Meanwhile, Lu Qingyu’s side had a box office of 2.3 million, which was pitiful to even mention.

Assistant: ”The box office for Wolf Warrior is truly tragic.”

Meng Wei: ”This is only the beginning. His box office will get even worse later on.”

Meng Wei was in a particularly good mood and decided to give Lu Qingyu a call to offer his ’condolences’.

Seeing that the call was from Meng Wei, Lu Qingyu knew exactly what was happening; the old fellow was here to gloat.

Sure enough, after the call was picked up, Meng Wei’s laughter came from the other end first.

”President Lu, congratulations on your movie’s box office breaking 2 million.”

Lu Qingyu’s phone was on speaker, and Wang Ning was by his side. Hearing Meng Wei speak like this, he cursed under his breath, ’You old bastard.’

However, for Lu Qingyu, since the enemy had delivered himself to his doorstep, he would feel bad letting him go without skinning him alive.

Lu Qingyu: ”President Meng’s movie has a box office of 76 million. It looks like it will break 100 million today. I should be the one congratulating President Meng.”

Meng Wei: ”Young man, it’s normal to lack experience when filming for the first time. There’s no need to compare yourself to our movie. A box office of 2.3 million is already quite good.”

Lu Qingyu: ”I also have to thank President Meng for the help with promotion. Otherwise, I’m afraid I wouldn’t even have a box office of 2.3 million on the first day. But since President Meng has called, could you have your artists help promote it a bit more?”

Meng Wei sat up straight on the sofa: ”Why wouldn’t that be possible? Although we are rivals, we are all in this industry together. Helping each other is only right.”

Lu Qingyu: ”That’s great. To drive traffic for promotion, our official website will edit some movie clips. I’d like to ask President Meng to have your artists help repost them as well.”

Meng Wei: ”That’s simple. Additionally, I have some good news to tell President Lu.”

Lu Qingyu: ”What good news?”

Meng Wei: ”If President Lu feels too much pressure or can’t hold on anymore, you can admit defeat early.”

Lu Qingyu smiled: It’s hard to say which of us will admit defeat first.

”I’ll remember those words, President Meng, and I hope you remember them too.”

After hanging up, Meng Wei said to his assistant, ”This Lu Qingyu is quite a stubborn person.”

The assistant had heard the entire conversation between Meng Wei and Lu Qingyu.

Assistant: ”President Meng, do we still need to promote Wolf Warrior?”

Meng Wei: ”Yes, why not?”

”As the saying goes, if you’re going to help, help all the way. What difference does it make to help a movie that can’t even make a splash?”

Assistant Zhan: ”Understood. I will contact the company and our artists to have them help repost the new promotional materials for Wolf Warrior.”

Meng Wei: ”Don’t forget to vigorously promote our own company’s film as well. We still need to take the May Day box office championship.”

Assistant: ”Our movie’s box office is already 4 million higher than the second place. This time, the box office championship will undoubtedly be ours.”

The person most infuriated after Lu Qingyu’s call with Meng Wei was Wang Ning, but while he was angry, he was also very helpless.

The gap between the box office of burning and their Wolf Warrior was simply too large.

In contrast, Lu Qingyu’s state remained unchanged from before.

Wang Ning couldn’t help but ask Lu Qingyu a somewhat foolish question.

”Boss, do you really think our movie can surpass burning?”

Lu Qingyu didn’t answer directly but instead asked Wang Ning, ”What’s wrong? You have no confidence?”

Wang Ning couldn’t help but sigh: ”The box office gap is so big right now, it’s hard to have any!”

Lu Qingyu: ”This movie will be in theaters for two months, while May Day actually only has a three-day holiday. The results of three days don’t represent two months.”

”Some good things need to ferment slowly. Don’t be in a hurry.”

Hearing Lu Qingyu’s analysis, Wang Ning suddenly felt a bit better.

”That’s true. The movie will be out for two months, and it’s only the first day. You can’t see the final result yet.”

Lu Qingyu: ”By the way, is the video edit I wanted finished?”

Wang Ning: ”It was finished long ago. When should we post it?”

Lu Qingyu: ”Let’s do it today. It just so happens that someone is giving us free traffic today.”

Lu Qingyu had someone make a 20-second video, giving a teaser of the hot-blooded scenes in the movie.

The tags for the movie were also very important. In his previous life, Wolf Warrior was able to become a hit because it undeniably stirred up the patriotic sentiments of the people.

So they couldn’t let that go to waste either.

At around 2:00 PM, the official website of Wolf Warrior released the short video and actively tagged the artists from Xiangwan Entertainment who had previously helped with promotion.

These people had received instructions from their company boss to help promote the film Wolf Warrior, so they reposted it directly without even looking at the content of the short video.

Meng Wei was still feeling smug that their film stood out during the May Day slot. If he were to look at the comment section, he would know that their film’s good results wouldn’t last for more than a few days, while Lu Qingyu’s film was about to become a sensation.

[burning is boring; it’s quite different from the trailer that was released before.]

[I went for the male and female lead in burning. Their acting is okay, and they look good, but the plot is a letdown.]

[I went to see burning with my boyfriend. He fell asleep halfway through. I should have gone to see Wolf Warrior with him instead.]
