Entertainment: Wanted to Acquire the Company on the First Day of Signing

130: Making money is easy, isn’t it?Meng Wei called his wife, and half an hour later, he presented Lu Qingyu with a revised contract.

In this contract, Meng Wei used the combined assets of Xiangwan Entertainment held by himself and his wife to make a bet with Lu Qingyu.

The condition was that Lu Qingyu, as an artist, had to earn a net profit of 1.6 billion in assets within three years for the bet to be considered successful.

Meng Wei handed the new contract to Lu Qingyu:

”How about it, Director Lu? Do you dare to take this bet with me?”

Lu Qingyu took the contract and signed his name on it without the slightest hesitation.

To be honest, he was actually afraid that Meng Wei would back out!

Everyone in the banquet hall watched this show unfold.

”This kid is truly crazy. A net profit of 1.6 billion in three years? How is that possible?”

”For an enterprise as large as Xiangwan Entertainment, it would be good if their net profit reached 500 million in three years. Where does Lu Qingyu get the confidence to think he can earn 1.6 billion?”

”Wang Ning and Chen Ting are just watching Lu Qingyu sign without trying to persuade him otherwise. Those two must be crazy as well.”

”I don’t think this contest will take three years; Lu Qingyu will admit defeat ahead of schedule.”

Holding the gambling agreement in his hand, Meng Wei was already beaming with joy in his heart.

With this agreement, he could not only give an account to the higher-ups of Xiangwan Entertainment but also acquire Qingcheng Entertainment and Black Pearl Entertainment without spending a single penny.

He loved this game of gambling far too much.

The banquet, which seemed to end with both host and guests happy, came to a close.

On the way back, as soon as the three of them got into the car, Chen Ting couldn’t help but say to Lu Qingyu:

”Brother, you were too impulsive. How could you sign that contract?”

When Lu Qingyu was signing, Chen Ting had been held back firmly by Wang Ning; it was too late even if he wanted to stop it.

Lu Qingyu: ”What’s wrong with this contract? It’s practically getting something for nothing. I can get the entirety of Xiangwan Entertainment without spending a cent. Why wouldn’t I sign?”

The anxiety on Chen Ting’s face could no longer be hidden; he also felt that Lu Qingyu was being too naive:

”It is indeed getting something for nothing, but have you figured out who is the one getting played?”

”A net profit of 1.6 billion in three years—even the top stars of Xiangwan Entertainment wouldn’t necessarily dare to sign such a gambling agreement.”

”You don’t know that among all the artists in the industry who have entered such bets, not a single one has won.”

”This is a vicious game.”

Lu Qingyu understood Chen Ting’s concerns. If he were just an artist, with his current status, his salary for a single drama would cap at 50 million. After deducting 20% tax, only 40 million would remain. A drama takes at least 3 to 4 months to film; even if Lu Qingyu joined new productions seamlessly, he would only take on four dramas a year. Adding some commercial activities, he’d be lucky to earn 200 million even if he worked himself to death.

Therefore, 600 million in three years was the absolute limit.

However, Lu Qingyu didn’t just know how to sing and act; he could also produce films.

Lu Qingyu: ”It’s only 1.6 billion. Is there anything easier than making money?”

Chen Ting: ”Only 1.6 billion? Brother, why don’t you just sell me instead?”

Lu Qingyu said with a smile in his eyes: ”No need for that, no need for that. If it’s necessary, we can sell you later.”

Chen Ting felt utterly helpless; even at a time like this, he still had the heart to joke around.

Chen Ting gave Wang Ning a sharp jab: ”Why did you stop me just now?”

Wang Ning hissed in pain; he was much calmer than Chen Ting.

After all, under Lu Qingyu’s guidance, he was the person who had turned a starting capital of 200,000 into over 100 million in one go.

From that moment on, he never regarded Lu Qingyu as just an 18-year-old kid.

Wang Ning didn’t answer Chen Ting’s words, instead grinning as he asked Lu Qingyu:

”Boss, do you need us to do anything?”

Lu Qingyu: ”Brother Chen, don’t worry. Since I dared to sign this contract, it means I am very confident.”

”There will be a project meeting at 9:00 AM the day after tomorrow. Brother Wang, please organize it.”

Wang Ning: ”Understood, Boss.”

Lu Qingyu assigned a task to Wang Ning but didn’t tell Chen Ting what to do.

Chen Ting: ”What about me? What do I need to do?”

Lu Qingyu: ”Naturally, you’ll do what you usually do. Now that Qingcheng Entertainment and Black Pearl Entertainment have merged, haven’t many projects been assigned to Black Pearl Entertainment? Brother Chen, you keep an eye on the start of those works.”

Chen Ting: ”Don’t you need me to help you with anything?”

Lu Qingyu: ”If there’s a need, I will look for you.”

Chen Ting: ”So, what do you plan for the first project to be?”

Lu Qingyu: ”I plan to film a movie.”

Lu Qingyu had never dealt with movies before. His sudden announcement that he wanted to film a movie left Chen Ting stunned.

”Ah? So suddenly?”

Lu Qingyu gave a meaningful smile: ”I’m going abroad to study in six months. Before then, I want to bring this gambling agreement to an early conclusion.”

Chen Ting: ...My younger brother has gone crazy.

Lu Qingyu: It’s time for ’Wolf Warrior’ and its 5.6 billion box office to give everyone a little shock.

Chen Ting: Time for overtime.

Wang Ning: I don’t understand, but I believe in the Boss.

After Lu Qingyu returned home, he first drank a cup of coffee. Time was precious; he had to write the entire script for Wolf Warrior 2 before 9:00 AM the day after tomorrow. He didn’t plan on sleeping tonight.

Lu Qingyu had Su Jixing cancel all his schedules for the next four months.

At 9:00 AM the day after tomorrow, Wang Ning led the company’s Project Team, waiting in the conference room for Lu Qingyu to arrive for the meeting.

Many people in the company knew that Lu Qingyu had entered a bet with Xiangwan Entertainment. Although they didn’t say it out loud, they still felt in their hearts that Lu Qingyu would lose.

At five past nine, Lu Qingyu pushed open the door and entered the conference room. Without a word of nonsense, he distributed the script for Wolf Warrior 2 that he had prepared to the Project Team.

”I presume everyone knows about my bet with Xiangwan Entertainment. I won’t waste words. What I’ve just handed out is a movie project I intend to do. Everyone, please take a look first.”

In the conference room, Wang Ning, the four directors, the Planning Team, and others first glanced at each other, then one after another opened the project proposal in front of them.

To be honest, when they heard Lu Qingyu wanted to do a movie project, they didn’t have much expectation for the proposal in front of them.

Opening the first page of the proposal, the movie’s name was ’Wolf Warrior,’ and the genre was military. Everyone’s heart skipped a beat.

Military-themed movies had always been unpopular. In previous years, military films released in theaters were few and far between. Most were only filmed when there was relevant policy support; otherwise, more than 80% of such movies lost money.

The most popular genre in theaters was romance. They couldn’t understand why Lu Qingyu, since he wanted to rely on movies to make money, would choose to film a military movie.

This bet concerned the survival of the company. Although Lu Qingyu, the boss, was young, the treatment he gave his employees was the best.

Everyone had an idea of the employee treatment at Xiangwan Entertainment. They didn’t want to become employees of Xiangwan Entertainment, nor did they want to change bosses.
