Chapter 883: Chapter 13: Are You Trying to Get Me Killed?

”Complete Memory Ability, it’s exactly that thing...”

Kamijou Kanzaki recounted Index’s situation to Touma, but the more Touma listened, the more he felt something was off. Although he’s just a high school student, he still felt the claim that a brain could be overwhelmed by memories was a bit far-fetched.

”What nonsense! I’m Index’s friend, I won’t let you hurt her again. Also, since you know these things, why haven’t you explained them to her, why...”

”Stop rambling, outsider. Don’t act like you know everything, you’ve known Index for less than 48 hours.”

Kamijou Kanzaki was angered by Little Brother Kamijou, her long and beautiful legs bent in an arc, kicking directly at Touma’s side face. With a bang, saliva splattered, and Touma was kicked until his head spun. In reality, Kamijou Kanzaki had been holding back; otherwise, this kick was enough to send Touma’s head flying.

Kamijou Kanzaki held the Seven Sword Seven Flash in its sheath and aimed a series of strikes at Touma, yelling something while doing so. She was venting her frustration at being unable to help Index. Little Brother Kamijou, who was suffering, was her only outlet.

”Hey, woman over there.”

The sudden shout made Kamijou Kanzaki stop her actions. Poor Touma was almost beaten into a pig’s head by the sheath.

A man and a woman walked over from afar, the man with a cigarette in his mouth, and the young girl beside him holding a military-grade flashlight. When Kamijou Kanzaki saw the smoking man, she instinctively tightened her grip on the long knife in her hand, and whispered to Touma:

”Quickly leave, don’t ask why, escape as fast as you can. This guy coming over is different from me; if he’s your enemy, he won’t show any mercy.”

Kamijou Kanzaki’s side face was turned towards Touma, who was quite confused. Just now, he had been beaten into doubting his life, but now, the opponent seemed to be protecting him? Could it be that he was hit into hallucinating?

The man and woman approached.

”First time collaborating, need my help?”

The girl from the pair spoke.

”If you don’t want to die, keep at least a three hundred meter distance.”

”Then I’ll just watch the show.”

The girl walked away, playfully spinning the military flashlight in her hand.

The newcomers were Su Xiao and Yukidaseki Tanxi. They originally wanted to get a means of transportation, but there were few transportation vehicles in Academy City. As for buses or the subway, Su Xiao was unfamiliar with the circumstances here, and Yukidaseki Tanxi seldom took buses or the subway, hence they arrived late.

”Who are you?”

Kamijou Kanzaki was no longer concerned with Touma, realizing that after initial contact, Touma had no real malice. Instead, the faint red aura around Su Xiao made her immediately judge him as a villain who had killed countless lives.

”...”

Su Xiao didn’t speak. Aleister’s intention was to drive Kamijou Kanzaki out of Academy City or kill her on the spot. According to the original intelligence, before Index’s matter was resolved, Kamijou Kanzaki would not leave.

Su Xiao suddenly vanished from his original position, and reappeared in front of Touma, crouching down. Kamijou Kanzaki was just about to attack, yet found that Su Xiao’s target did not appear to be Touma, but herself.

”Who are you...”

Touma was nearly unconscious.

”You don’t need to know for now.”

Su Xiao picked up Touma and tossed him toward Yukidaseki Tanxi. Although Touma was the plot’s protagonist, with abundant rewards for killing him, any Contractor familiar with the Forbidden World of Magic would never target Touma; before his death, his combat strength would be enough to instantly kill any Contractor entering the Derivative World this time, including Su Xiao.

For such protagonists whose killing risk outweighed the benefits, Su Xiao chose to minimize contact. If it wasn’t for the task needs this time, he wouldn’t have engaged with him.

”Take him away.”

As Su Xiao spoke, Touma vanished again, reappearing by Yukidaseki Tanxi’s side. The task this time required taking Touma to a safe place, with Aleister placing significant importance on Touma.

”Where to?”

Yukidaseki Tanxi poked Touma with the military flashlight, and Touma raised his arm with difficulty, indicating to wait.

”Specific place up to your mood. As long as he doesn’t die, tossing him in a public toilet is fine.”

Su Xiao shrugged his shoulders. He could sense Kamijou Kanzaki wouldn’t be easy to deal with.

”Hold on, you can’t take him away.”

After initial contact, Kamijou Kanzaki realized Touma was a good person. As for the two newcomers, the girl’s body lacked a strong smell of blood, but the man nearby carried a faintly sweet and metallic odor, reminiscent of fresh blood, suggesting he’d killed someone not more than a day ago.

In fact, Su Xiao had slit Maiye Shenli’s throat an hour ago, so it’s natural he carried the smell of blood.

”Out of courtesy and others’ requests, I’m giving you three choices: kill me, die here, or leave Academy City. Of course, these are choices from my standpoint; you can choose not to.”

Su Xiao’s hand rested on the hilt of the Dragon Slash.

”I choose to defeat you, then go save someone important.”

”If that’s the case, then it means to kill me. Don’t talk about defeating me; before I die, I won’t be beaten.”

Su Xiao drew the Dragon Slash from his waist. Upon witnessing this, Kamijou Kanzaki’s body bent in preparation for battle.

As the two were about to commence combat, about three hundred meters away, Touma stood up with difficulty.

”You must be that person’s companion, quick, stop him. We don’t need to fight each other...”

Touma looked at Yukidaseki Tanxi, who tilted her head, seemingly pondering something. In truth, she was contemplating where to teleport Touma to make it amusing: the women’s restroom? The sewer? On top of the satellite tower? Admittedly, Yukidaseki Tanxi was rather cunning.

”Hey, bandage girl? Stop your partner quickly.”

As soon as Touma spoke, a hashtag seemed to explode on Yukidaseki Tanxi’s forehead. She endured being called ’bandaged chest girl’ by Su Xiao; there’s no use getting angry since she couldn’t beat him. But now, this weakling Touma dared to call her that too.

”Porcupine head, did you misunderstand something? Do you naively think that man is helping you?”

Yukidaseki Tanxi sneered, continuing:

”Stop him? What a joke! That guy is completely a monster. I don’t want to die, so I definitely wouldn’t interfere or persuade him to do anything. That’s potentially life-threatening, surely. Are you trying to get me killed, you porcupine head?”

Yukidaseki Tanxi swung her military flashlight, hitting Touma’s head with a thud.

Thud!

Droplets of blood splattered, and Touma collapsed limply into unconsciousness. Su Xiao, ready to face Kamijou Kanzaki, noted the event but did not intervene. Yukidaseki Tanxi’s maximum teleport distance was only 800 meters; even teleporting Touma away might not prevent his return here. Knocking him out was a wise choice.

Noticing Su Xiao’s gaze, Yukidaseki Tanxi managed a smile.

”I believe this better controls the target person.”

”Hmm, if he wakes, hit him again. As long as he doesn’t die, turning him into a fool doesn’t matter.”

”No problem.”

Yukidaseki Tanxi shook off the blood from her military flashlight, smiling, revealing two sharp little white teeth.

”Is there a need for a life-or-death battle?”

Kamijou Kanzaki’s battle intent seemed weak, causing Su Xiao to furrow his brows. It wasn’t that she lacked fighting intent, but that her thoughts appeared rather fanciful.

Index’s importance to the Magic Side needs no elaboration. Such an important person ending up on the Science Side’s territory, imagining a retrieval through non-violent means is indeed fanciful dreaming.

The English Puritanism sent Kamijou Kanzaki, in fact indicating one thing: the negotiations between English Puritanism and the Science Side had failed, so they had to deploy their ’nuclear weapon’ level combat effectiveness to retrieve Index. The ’nuclear weapon’ level combat effectiveness was the Saints.

Blue steel shadow energy attached to the Dragon Slash, Su Xiao’s hands pointing it diagonally at the ground, his body muscles gradually tensed.

The situation had escalated to such an extent that words were unnecessary. Su Xiao joined Aleister’s camp, and with someone like Su Xiao available for direct dispatch, there was no longer any need for Aleister to use more complicated methods to retain Index, commonly known as the ’Forbidden Technique Catalog’; using force ensured retention more securely.

As long as the ’Forbidden Technique Catalog’ remained, even if Su Xiao performed outrageous tasks in Academy City, Aleister would turn a blind eye. This transaction had silently been concluded.
