Reincarnation Paradise Park

Chapter 868: Chapter 99: The Reason

On the east side of the small town, inside the courtyard of a mansion.

The courtyard is lush with greenery, with a fountain pool in the center.

A few Pitbulls are barking madly, tied with thick iron chains. Though not as majestic as large dogs, they are extremely fierce, especially as the smell of blood in the courtyard excites them.

Su Xiao stands in front of the fountain, washing the blood off his body. This location is Bagu’s residence, and his presence here is unrelated to the mission; he has successfully broken through his physical limits.

His main purpose here is to investigate why the guards’ physical qualities are so strong, surpassing the limits of normal people.

After washing off the blood, he is somewhat annoyed by the mad barking of the Pitbulls.

”Quiet.”

Su Xiao turns his head towards the Pitbulls. However, these dogs are genetically deficient breeds, heavily secreting testosterone which allows them to ignore pain and overcome fear of other creatures for short periods.

”Woof, woof, woof...”

Su Xiao shakes his head, wondering why he should bother with genetically flawed dogs, and turns to walk towards the villa in the back of the courtyard.

Snap.

A collar around one Pitbull’s neck snaps. The dog charges towards Su Xiao without hesitation.

Five meters, three meters, two meters.

Suddenly, the fierce Pitbull stops, tucks its tail, and turns to run away. A faint red aura surrounds it; this is something no mere overcoming of fear can conquer.

[Warning: Hunter, do not use visible passive abilities in the real world, this is the first warning.]

Receiving the warning from Reincarnation Paradise, Su Xiao feels surprised. He just used the passive effect of ’Release of Breath,’ causing enemies to panic.

When using Blade Aura, Reincarnation Paradise didn’t prompt him, but using Release of Breath did, perhaps because Release of Breath is a mixed active/passive skill?

Though somewhat puzzled, Su Xiao doesn’t delve deeper; he has roughly figured out several abilities he can use in the real world.

Besides, in a reality where equipment and active skills can’t be used, Su Xiao, with four attributes developing simultaneously, is incredibly strong, beyond his imagination.

Su Xiao’s accumulation of attributes is vastly different from other Contractors. Most Contractors accumulate attributes through attribute points + equipment, with attribute points making up a larger share, equipment smaller, like 50 attribute points, about 35~40 points are permanent attributes from attribute points, the rest are temporary attributes from equipment, which are invalid in the real world!

Su Xiao is different; he almost completely accumulates permanent attributes from attribute points, rarely relying on equipment. His decisions for equipment mostly favor passive functional abilities.

Su Xiao makes such choices to avoid relying on equipment as the main means of combat during battles, preferring to use his body instead.

Although equipment is an essential part of the Power System, it presents certain risks such as damage, interference by enemy abilities, suppression, etc. Too many unstable factors.

As Su Xiao contemplates the matter of attributes and equipment, just as he pushes open the villa’s main door, a gun is already pointed towards him.

”Don’t move.”

Sizzle〜

A sharp thin steel wire glows faintly, splattered with blood, droplets of blood beads scattered in the air.

”Ah!”

A suit-clad butler cries out miserably, clutching his severed arm against the wall, the blood staining the white wall red. Due to the pain and rapid blood loss, the butler’s face and lips quickly turn pale.

”Where’s the study?”

Su Xiao stands before the suit-clad butler, a short knife flipping in his hand.

”Upstairs, third floor, turn left.”

The suit-clad butler compromises unusually quickly, showing little stress in betraying his boss Bagu.

”Lead the way. Who else is in the villa?”

A painkiller slides out from Su Xiao’s sleeve; he injects it into the butler’s neck amidst the fearful gaze.

After the injection, the butler’s mind clears a bit; he quickly removes his suit, wrapping it around the stump of his severed arm.

”There are a few guards and Bagu’s lover in the villa. Is Bagu dead?”

”Dead.”

”Fantastic!”

The suit-clad butler shows an expression of ecstatic joy, surprising Su Xiao, prompting his thoughts.

”Lead me to Bagu’s study, now.”

The butler walks quickly upstairs with his head down, showing signs of ambition.

During the ascent, the suit-clad butler says, ”Sir, I can transfer all of Bagu’s assets to you, spare my life, and I’ll work for you.”

”Alright.”

Su Xiao shows a smile, and seeing this, the butler feels relieved, unbeknownst that Su Xiao smiling is usually not a good sign.

Led by the butler, Su Xiao quickly reaches Bagu’s study.

”This is Bagu’s study. As for his assets, I’ll move his liquid funds...”

Before the butler finishes speaking, Su Xiao slices his throat with a knife.

Splatter.

Blood gushes, the butler clutches his throat with his remaining arm, blood oozing from between his fingers.

”Why...”

Thud.

The butler collapses.

”Why? Stupid question.”

With that said, Su Xiao pushes open the study door. Initially, he didn’t plan to kill the butler, as he’s merely a housekeeper, but the butler’s reaction upon knowing Bagu is dead raises Su Xiao’s alertness.

The butler’s expression has two implications: firstly, it shows Su Xiao that he wasn’t loyal to Bagu, secondly, the butler may take over Bagu’s influence.

Regarding acquiring Bagu’s assets, don’t kid yourself; Bagu is a drug lord, many eyes on his assets. Su Xiao’s identity in the country is legal, and he doesn’t want this identity to become sensitive over such money.

If the butler had a chance to live before, his behaviors sealed his fate that he must die.

Previously, Su Xiao chopped off one of his arms. If he becomes another Bagu, trouble will be unending; most people won’t easily forget such vengeance, and rather than betting on the butler’s magnanimity, Su Xiao chooses the more direct method.

Such is the danger level of the small town; a wrong choice can lead to a series of troubles.

Entering Bagu’s study, Su Xiao begins searching through cabinets, quickly finding several documents.

Sitting on a leather chair, Su Xiao examines the documents in his hand.

”I see.”

Su Xiao puts away the documents; he has already understood how those guards exceed normal human limits.

Previously, Su Xiao encountered a Contractor in the basement, who originally was a chemistry top student, later entering Reincarnation Paradise.

However, upon suddenly obtaining supernatural powers, the top student became arrogant. Arrogance isn’t a big deal, but arrogance while encountering a down-and-out drug lord is quite unfortunate, and that drug lord was Bagu.

After discovering the student’s secret, Bagu immediately assembled his few subordinates, aiming to control the student, for who wouldn’t desire transcendent powers?
