Chapter 881: Chapter 11: Terms and Bargaining Chips

After a moment of silence, Su Xiao continued:

”There is only one clue to the Codex. In Academy City, there’s a Lv.0 ability-less person named Tsuchimikado Motoharu. If I find him, I can get the next clue. That’s why I’m here in Academy City.”

Su Xiao revealed some information that might be exposed during his actions, such as an unknown Codex or the clue involving Tsuchimikado Motoharu, and all of this was genuine information.

The attitude Su Xiao presented was to disguise himself as a member of a certain force. He only showed his strength, and as for Alchemy, that needed to be revealed ’unintentionally,’ possibly as a chance to save his life.

”As for that Codex, from the existing data, it is known that it’s extremely dangerous. If it can’t be taken safely, I suggest destroying it.”

After explaining his intent, Su Xiao began to wait for Aleister’s response.

”Where do you come from?”

Aleister asked, the question was tricky; answering it poorly could likely lead to breaking off the negotiations.

”A magic and strange creature clearing and investigation organization. You can consider my organization as a demon hunting family, specifically responsible for clearing mages and creations made by mages. I am the third generation here.”

Su Xiao’s palm extended flat, and Blue Steel Shadow energy surged.

”My power isn’t suitable for magic, nor is it scientific. It’s a kind of power from a legacy system.”

Su Xiao was sure that Aleister could perceive the uniqueness of the Blue Steel Shadow energy, which was an energy extremely targeting spellcasters. It was because of possessing Blue Steel Shadow energy that Su Xiao chose to contact Aleister, who hates magic. At the same time, Su Xiao was gambling that Aleister couldn’t analyze Blue Steel Shadow energy.

”Is that so? Your words need verification, but the power you possess could indeed be called the nemesis of mages.”

Aleister’s attitude was still unclear, noticing this, Su Xiao offered an enticing bargain.

”As a thank you for stepping into your place to find the Codex, during the search period, I can help your side do things, as for what specific things, there’s no need to tell me the reasons, time, place, target characteristics, or photos. Whether killing or saving, I can do these things during the search period.”

If Aleister had hesitated before, Su Xiao’s words made Aleister start to be tempted.

Imagine, a powerful subordinate who doesn’t question the reasons for tasks and is ruthless enough. What a perfect subordinate it would be, especially since this subordinate was stronger than more than 99% of the subordinates Aleister could directly use. When Aleister commanded ’subordinates,’ it was mostly by using them, unable to issue direct orders, including One-Way Street and the story protagonist Touma Kamijou.

Su Xiao’s statement was different; there was no need to beat around the bush for tasks, time, place, target, and other questions were not asked.

However, Su Xiao’s presentation was too perfect, perfect to the point of being suspicious. Su Xiao was also aware of this, so during his previous contact with Yukidaseki Tanxi, he showed an imperfect side, easily angered and suspicious. Through the Airopathic Circuit, Aleister must have noticed this aspect of Su Xiao’s personality, which was what Su Xiao wanted Aleister to see.

”You are very sincere. In that light, you temporarily have the right to operate in Academy City, and as a return, you’ve got to do one thing first.”

Just as Aleister finished speaking, Su Xiao received a prompt.

[Promt: Hunter has joined the Science Side faction: Academy City.]

[Because Hunter joined the Science Side Faction, the Camp Shop is open.]

[Camp Shop location: Unknown, needs to be found on your own.]

[Promt: Completing tasks for Science Side leader Aleister can earn corresponding faction contribution points.]

[Promt: When contacting Tsuchimikado Motoharu, faction contribution points will be crucial.]

...

Seeing these prompts, Su Xiao breathed a sigh of relief. He made the right choice. Joining the Science Side not only made future actions more convenient but was also related to the third-tier promotion task. Without the ability to act autonomously in Academy City, the third-tier promotion task couldn’t be completed.

”Before you meet Tsuchimikado Motoharu, first do one thing, and Tsuchimikado Motoharu is an important pawn of mine.”

Aleister’s meaning was obvious: meeting Tsuchimikado Motoharu was fine, but he couldn’t make a move against him.

The huge room was silent, Bubu Wang beside Su Xiao looked at the various metal tubes in the room, with its canine teeth a bit itchy.

Su Xiao stepped on Bubu Wang’s front paw, and Bubu Wang’s face cramped, its little eyes seemingly saying, ”Master, don’t worry, I’m just looking, definitely not chewing, Bubu isn’t stupid.”

After a while, Yukidaseki Tanxi spatially moved into the Windowless Building, teleporting Su Xiao out of the building.

The night wind blew by, Su Xiao took a deep breath. Although it didn’t achieve the expected effect, his purpose had already been initially achieved.

”So, we’re partners from now on?!”

Yukidaseki Tanxi received the order, with a look of wanting to die; she didn’t want to partner with Su Xiao.

”That’s probably the case, so what is that task?”

Su Xiao still remembered Aleister’s previous words, which was to help Aleister with one matter before seeking Tsuchimikado Motoharu.

”Task?”

Yukidaseki Tanxi was a bit confused.

Screech~

The sound of brakes came. A black car stopped near Su Xiao, and the door opened, a man wearing a white windbreaker, with blonde hair and a tattoo on one side of his cheek got out of the car.

”Is it here? Hmm, it should be correct.”

The man looked at Su Xiao and Yukidaseki Tanxi, noticing the man’s gaze, Yukidaseki Tanxi turned her head, seemingly very disgusted by the man.

Judging by the information from the original work, Su Xiao recognized who he was; the man was named Kihara Amata, the leader of the Hunting Dog Troops, a direct subordinate of Aleister, brutal in nature but with a genius mind. The strongest superpower user, One-Way Street’s superpower, was developed with his assistance, possessing all the data on One-Way Street and having developed a method to restrain One-Way Street’s abilities.

”Here’s the information, do whatever you want with it.”

Kihara Amata tossed over a file, Su Xiao caught the file and didn’t look at the information in his hand, instead gazing through the car window into the car.

In the rear seat of the sedan, sat a tea-haired girl wearing military goggles. Seeing the girl’s appearance reminded Su Xiao of someone, Lv.5 superpower user Misaka Mikoto.

Of course, the girl in the car wasn’t Misaka Mikoto herself, but a clone of her.

Kihara Amata didn’t say much, he directly got in the car and left, seemingly in a hurry.

Watching the departing vehicle, Su Xiao showed a pondering expression; he roughly deduced the current timeline.

Flipping open the file in hand, the content of the file was simple. A girl with an extremely special identity had been pursued and had fled into Academy City. Her name was Indexa; specific information wasn’t provided in the file.

The file only mentioned that Indexa fled into Academy City and then ’ran into’ a boy named Touma Kamijou, the two became friends.

Touma Kamijou is the protagonist of this world. Whether he is a Child of the Plane, or some such, remains to be evaluated.

Later, a magician appeared in Academy City and fought with Touma Kamijou. Although Touma Kamijou is ability-less, he has an almost invincible ability called Illusion Killer. Any superpower or magic his right hand touches becomes ineffective and nullified. In principle, it eliminates all ’abnormal ability power.’ This event happened last night.

Touma Kamijou, relying on the Illusion Killer, defeated the magician. However, the magician had an accomplice, whom Touma Kamijou couldn’t handle.

According to the information in Su Xiao’s hand, tonight Touma Kamijou has already encountered the magician’s accomplice, and is currently either confronting or battling them. Su Xiao’s task is to repel or kill that magician’s accomplice.

”They really treat me as a laborer, let’s go, bandage-breasted girl.”

Su Xiao headed into a small alley, hearing the nickname made Yukidaseki Tanxi’s mouth twitch.

”I’m just trying to prevent feminine features from interfering with combat! When running, they jiggle. If it wasn’t too unsightly to cut them off, I would have done it long ago.”

Yukidaseki Tanxi followed along, even though she hated him so much that her teeth itched, she was helpless.
