Chapter 866: Chapter 97: Interception (Fifth Update)

Su Xiao fired several shots to knock down the stunned guards, the magazine emptied, and he pulled a new magazine from the belt at his waist, completing the reload in an extremely short time.

He flipped into the plant, keeping his body low, holding the gun leveled in front of him, aiming at a piece of abandoned machinery as he swiftly walked forward.

Pow.

Suddenly, Su Xiao opened fire, with a metallic ding, sparks flew from the abandoned machinery, and the mercenary guard behind it ducked his head back.

”Expert.”

The mercenary guard hid behind the discarded machinery and removed his gas mask, revealing a Caucasian face.

The mercenary guard tried to extend his gas mask out from the cover.

Pow, pow, pow.

A massive force hit, and the gas mask was instantly shattered.

Clink, a dark object was thrown near the mercenary guard, a chill ran through him as he instinctively thought it was a grenade.

In a split second, the mercenary guard made a decision, tearing off his shirt and throwing it out, leaping in the opposite direction, attempting to reach another cover.

Pow, pow, pow, pow...

The rhythmic sound of gunfire came as blood blooms erupted on the mercenary guard leaping in mid-air, hit by five shots, causing him to fall with a thud, the bullet force altering his leap’s direction.

Though riddled with five shots, a deathly injury, the mercenary guard rolled, ignoring the bullet wounds.

Pow.

Su Xiao fired the last bullet from his gun, the bullet entered through the mercenary guard’s eye socket, failing to exit the brain, the bullet’s spin instantly turning the guard’s brain into mush.

He ejected the magazine and reloaded, his expression sour, having shot the guard five times, yet the opponent could still stand.

Bear in mind a 9mm caliber bullet is quite powerful, and the distance between them was about ten meters; with Su Xiao’s precision shooting, every shot hit the torso, with one shot even penetrating the lung.

The enemy was difficult to deal with; relying solely on a pistol might prove insufficient.

Su Xiao headed toward the stairway leading underground, a guard severely injured by shrapnel reached for a nearby rifle.

Su Xiao casually fired a shot at him and pulled a shock bomb from the guard’s waist, hesitating momentarily, then picked up a gas mask from the ground and put it on.

A loud noise of footsteps came from outside the plant, a large group of guards reached the plant’s entrance.

Su Xiao pulled the pin on the shock bomb, tossing it toward the entrance, and darted into the stairway.

Bang!

The shock bomb detonated, Su Xiao already covering his ears, white light burst within the plant, followed by anguished screams, as a nighttime shock bomb causes irreversible damage to optic nerves.

Su Xiao descended the stairs at a gentle pace, upon reaching a corner, he leaned against one side of the wall, pulling out a small mirror from his waist to observe the situation around the corner.

More than ten guards were stationed at the bottom of the stairs, holding various automatic rifles aimed upward.

Bam!

Gunfire echoed, cement splintering from the wall near Su Xiao’s ear, it was a stray bullet!

Cement fragments cut Su Xiao’s cheek, blood trickled down his face, seeping into his mouth with a metallic taste, a smile resurfaced on Su Xiao’s face, his heartbeat gradually quickened, seals binding him flickered with light.

”Not easy to deal with.”

Su Xiao casually tossed a black travel bag, retreating swiftly.

Ratatatat...

Bullets rained down on the travel bag, reducing it to tatters, the rifles inside sustaining large dents, in close quarters, pistols outperform rifles.

Splat.

A burst of blood erupted from Su Xiao’s shoulder, he staggered back two steps, a stray bullet rebounding off the wall hit him.

Footsteps came from above the staircase, Su Xiao was cornered inside the stairway.

As the gunfire below the stairway waned, Su Xiao stepped forward swiftly, half his body, head, and arms darting out from behind the wall, rapidly squeezing the trigger.

Pow, pow, pow, pow...

A few guards got headshot directly, one just about to pull the trigger when a bullet pierced his forehead, brain matter splattering.

Faced with Su Xiao’s terrifying precision shooting, the guards retreated to the sides of the stairway.

Su Xiao wouldn’t miss such an opportunity, tossing the pistol into his left hand, he pulled a roughly 40cm short knife from the pant leg at his right calf, sprinting down the stairs.

As he dashed out the stairway, Su Xiao crouched low, eyes quickly scanning the surroundings.

Six guards remained, three holding rifles, two with pistols, one wielding grenades, stationed on either side of the stairway, two on the left, four on the right, with one on the left holding a grenade.

Su Xiao held the gun leveled, slowing his breath, squeezing the trigger.

Pow.

The guard holding the grenade was shot, the bullet hitting his wrist. Su Xiao initially aimed at the grenade, but Level 5 firearms specialization did not allow precision to strike the grenade, especially while in motion.

Su Xiao opted for a lesser target, shooting twice to take down two guards on the left.

Upon resolving the two guards on the left, his lower back tingled, shot again, he immediately rolled on the ground, bullet holes dotting the floor beside him.

Pow, pow, pow.

With three shots, the pistol’s magazine emptied, on the right side two guards were headshot, one shot in the throat, the remaining one raised a rifle, aiming at Su Xiao.

Of course, Su Xiao knew how many bullets were chambered; as the magazine emptied, he threw the short knife with his other hand.

Whoosh, the short knife pierced the chest of the last guard, his rifle strayed, wildly firing a few shots around Su Xiao.

Su Xiao ejected the magazine, inserted a new one mid-air, and chambered a round.

Pow, pow.

Two shots down, the last guard got headshot.

It’s not that Su Xiao enjoyed aiming for heads, but these guards weren’t ordinary; hitting their torsos without penetrating the heart barely decreased their combat strength.

After finishing off the last guard, Su Xiao rushed to a guard’s corpse, pulling a grenade from it.

Boom!

A blast rang inside the stairway, powerful force pushing Su Xiao back a few steps.

Boom, boom, boom.

Grenades exploded repeatedly inside the stairway, Su Xiao huddled behind a cement pillar, he was now located in a large underground room of several hundred square meters.

The basement had rows of stainless steel tables, filled with test tubes and beakers, alongside numerous square plastic bags containing white powder.

Workers in protective suits stood still before the tables, about fifty people, one slowly retreating, with a handgun perched on a table not far from him.

Su Xiao aimed and fired, a single shot to the head.

Two seconds later.

”Ah!”

Dozens of workers screamed aloud, instinctively crouching on the ground with their heads held.

Su Xiao tossed a grenade toward these people, most remained immobile, but three leaped agilely toward cover.

Pow, pow, pow.

Three shots, with crisp intervals, the fake workers heading for cover were headshot.
