Chapter 798: Chapter 29: Fighting a Bloody Path

Two orcs had their throats slit by Su Xiao, while nearby tribal soldiers smelled the pungent scent of blood and immediately became alert.

Su Xiao rushed into the tribal army, weaving through the tribal soldiers. His target was only throats, each cut deadly.

By the time Su Xiao brought down twelve enemies, the surrounding tribal army completely discovered him.

”Enemy attack!!”

The surrounding tribal soldiers were somewhat incredulous. If Su Xiao were a Night Elf, they wouldn’t be surprised, but Su Xiao looked every bit human.

Su Xiao put away the Slaughter Dagger, and Dragon Slash appeared in his hand, with the Counter Shield activated.

Ring Break.

Clang.

A ring-like blade aura spread out, and the tribal army surrounding Su Xiao froze in place. A line of blood appeared between their chest and abdomen. As for the dwarves, their Heavenly Spirit Covers were directly sliced off.

Su Xiao didn’t even look at the soldiers frozen in place, charging straight ahead. He needed to kill his way back to the Black Soil Fortress before being noticed by the enemy’s high ranks.

With Ring Break clearing the area, Su Xiao charged over ten meters into the tribal army. During his charge, the upper halves of the previously frozen tribal soldiers fell to the ground, wailing in pain, awaiting their death.

Su Xiao faced forward, ignoring attacks coming from the left, right, and rear, all blocked by the Counter Shield.

The long knife flew, but due to enemy obstruction, Su Xiao’s forward charge noticeably slowed. He needed to kill the enemies in front of him first before proceeding.

”Kill him!”

”Enemies have appeared from behind!”

Roars echoed, but Su Xiao ignored them. At this moment, he didn’t need to worry about stamina consumption; killing his way back to the Black Soil Fortress was the key.

Slashing the enemy in front with one stroke, the long knife continued, also activating the Blue Steel Shadow Ability.

Pfft.

A dwarf dressed in heavy armor was slain. Su Xiao rushed past the corpses of an orc and a dwarf, new enemies appearing ahead.

At this moment, Su Xiao was about 800 meters from the Black Soil Fortress, giving him a new understanding of the power of the Giant Race.

An 800-meter distance wasn’t far for Su Xiao, but if devoid of enemies. What if these 800 meters were filled with enemies? The answer was, breaking through would be incredibly difficult.

Blood splattered, limbs flew, not a single tribal soldier could withstand Su Xiao’s strike, each blow used over eighty percent of his strength. As a result, his stamina depleted faster.

A dense wave of attacks came from all directions, the Counter Shield rang with clangs, its durability decreasing rapidly.

What does it mean to carve a bloody path? Su Xiao was carving such a path now. If he failed to do so, he risked dying amidst the tribal army, swallowed by the surging crowd. As for escaping into the Tribal Alliance’s territory, that could indeed preserve his life, but the rewards in this world would end, and the ”Holy Oak Tree Trunk” would be out of reach.

As Su Xiao charged, a crisp crackle came from beside him, the Counter Shield shattered.

A broad blade large sword slashed towards Su Xiao’s face. He didn’t dodge, instead meeting the enemy’s blade with Dragon Slash.

Clang, the broad blade large sword shattered, along with the enemy’s head, demonstrating the critical role of Dragon Slash’s sharpness once again.

Just after slaying an enemy, Su Xiao began to urge the Counter Shield’s formation, but to no avail. As the Counter Shield had just shattered, the Blue Steel Shadow Energy beside Su Xiao was gradually annihilating, requiring 0.2 to 0.8 seconds for a new Counter Shield to form, which was a weakness of the Counter Shield.

Of course, if there wasn’t gradually annihilating Blue Steel Shadow Energy around, activating the Counter Shield was instant.

The new Counter Shield was gradually forming, but the surrounding enemy’s attacks had already arrived.

Su Xiao ducked to avoid a longsword, his black short hair lifted by the gust, and with Dragon Slash slashed at the various weapons coming from the right. With a series of crisp clinks, several weapons were cut by Dragon Slash.

Pfft, blood splattered.

Su Xiao felt a chill and numbness at his back, a feeling all too familiar, he’d been slashed by sharp weapons with four wounds in total: one on the right scapula, one in the center of the back, two on the left lower back. Amidst the bustling crowd, Su Xiao sustained injuries during his rapid charge.

The new Counter Shield appeared, blocking all incoming weapons.

At the moment the Counter Shield appeared, Su Xiao accelerated his footsteps. As he swung his blade, the Counter Shield in front of the slashing trajectory spread outward.

The numbness of the back wound disappeared, replaced by piercing pain.

Su Xiao disregarded the wound on his back; he was accustomed to it, and the life value restored from killing accelerated the healing process of the wounds.

”Bring it on!”

Su Xiao shouted loudly, and the few tribal soldiers near him actually showed fear, intimidated by Su Xiao’s aura.

Kill, keep killing, only by slicing through the tribal army could he survive.

An astonishing scene appeared on the battlefield: one man, one knife, slaughtering through the mass of the army, stopped by no one. He wasn’t there to claim the enemy’s head; he aimed to cut through the tribal army, seeking a chance of survival.

In the forest behind the tribal army, an Elf Girl in an invisible state stared blankly at Su Xiao, who was bathing in blood and fighting amidst the crowd.

”Still thought... he was joking about fighting back to the Black Soil Fortress; he really did it, and so strong!”

The Elf Girl became curious; she wondered if Su Xiao could really cut his way to the Black Soil Fortress.

...

Amidst the crowd.

Su Xiao’s chest heaved, his breathing becoming rapid, his right arm weary. It had been half an hour since he charged into the tribal army.

During that half hour, he had been fully committed to slaughtering the enemy and advancing.

Su Xiao looked up; the towering Black Soil Fortress grew nearer, no more than 200 meters away. Fortunately, he hadn’t encountered any leaders along the way.

With hundreds of thousands of soldiers on the battlefield, spanning about one kilometer horizontally, the vertical span was harder to gauge. As soldiers from both sides died and got injured, the vertical width of the battlefield was narrowing. In such a large-scale battlefield, the chances of encountering enemy leaders were slim.

”Should be... no problem.”

The wound on Su Xiao’s back burned fiercely. Without accident, he should be able to kill through the remaining 200 meters. ℯℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

A bloody footprint appeared under Su Xiao’s feet. Cutting through over 600 meters of enemy ranks had its costs. He had been slashed thirteen times by sharp weapons, struck thrice by blunt hammers, and had two rows of bite marks on his calf. After cleaving through an orc’s chest, the Counter Shield shattered, and that orc bit before dying.

Su Xiao’s complexion was somewhat pale, a normal condition after significant blood loss.

Under normal circumstances, if Su Xiao fought and killed for half an hour on the battlefield, he wouldn’t be so severely injured, nor would his stamina be so depleted. But as he charged within the tribal army, he not only had to charge but also carve a bloody path, significantly increasing his injury risk.

Su Xiao had no time to deal with his wounds, and with so many wounds, they didn’t hurt much. The problem was the continuous bleeding.

After another ten minutes of charging forward, Su Xiao saw Imperial Soldiers fighting the tribal army ahead. Only fifty meters remained; if he crossed those fifty meters, he’d reach the top of the Black Soil Fortress.

The scent of blood filled his nostrils, and the roars of the Imperial army and tribal army echoed in his ears. Not far away, a ’Green Phosphorus Burning Bottle’ landed within the Imperial army. Su Xiao shook his head, the massive blood loss starting to affect his concentration.

”Regroup.”

A roar came from nearby. After slaying a few orcs beside him, Su Xiao looked over.

Armor with earthy yellow patterns, a war hammer in hand, riding a wild boar — it was a Dwarf Earth Cavalry.
