Reincarnation Paradise Park

Chapter 768: Chapter 78: Friend, Goodbye

”Trouble?”

”Yes, trouble, so he’s been on a killing spree recently. The specifics are unclear.”

”Tell me more.”

”money.”

”Account number.”

”CH...”

Su Xiao hung up the phone and transferred money to an account via his cell. He glanced at his balance and unexpectedly found that his savings were running low. Although it was enough for a lifetime for an ordinary person, at his spending rate, it wouldn’t last long. Fortunately, he didn’t need to worry about money in the short term, and even if he did, he had ways to get more.

The phone rang again, and Maggie Calamy began to introduce the situation about Sea Scorpion, which was Hai Dong’s nickname.

”Sea Scorpion’s son died?!”

Su Xiao’s jaw muscles protruded.

”Yes, Sea Scorpion is a madman now, leaving no one related to his son’s death alive.”

Maggie Calamy took a breath, knowing she had narrowly escaped death by a quick response.

”Where is he now?”

”In the country you’re in, ** City.”

”And then?”

”No specific address available.”

Maggie Calamy’s awkward laughter came through.

”Two million, and this is all you give me? In US dollars, no less.”

”One hour.”

Maggie Calamy hung up. It wasn’t even an hour before she called back after just over 40 minutes.

”Six hours ago, Sea Scorpion was seen near Guangming Road in your city. That’s all the intel I have.”

”That’ll do.”

Su Xiao had already guessed Hai Dong’s objective. Guangming Road was where his jewelry store was located. Hai Dong knew Su Xiao had a store there, clearly looking for him, but unfortunately, Su Xiao was in Reincarnation Paradise then.

Stopped a taxi, Su Xiao returned to the jewelry store, and Ma Fatty looked surprised upon seeing him.

”Finished the job? So efficient?”

”Not quite finished yet.”

Su Xiao inspected in front of the jewelry store, soon finding an old cellphone in the gap next to the shutter door. Its biggest advantage was long battery life.

He turned on the phone and scrolled through the contacts, finding three saved numbers.

Professional Welder: 159********.

Professional Excavator: 135********.

Professional Forgery: 155*******.

Su Xiao didn’t call any of the numbers but went inside the jewelry store, took out a pen and paper, and wrote down a series of numbers.

Ten minutes later, Su Xiao got a phone number and dialed it.

Ring...Ring...

The phone rang for a long time without anyone answering, and just when Su Xiao was about to hang up and track the number another way, someone picked up.

”Excava...Excavator, which...compa...cough, cough.”

Su Xiao quickly replied: ”Man proposes, God disposes.”

”Africa, two shots, chest, abdomen.”

The person on the other end mentioned a location name.

”Libya, one stab, calf.”

”...”

The phone line went silent for a while.

”I might not make it.”

Hai Dong’s voice was weak, occasionally breaking into loud fits of coughing.

”Address, I’ll come to you.”

”No, too dangerous.”

”Doesn’t matter.”

Su Xiao was no longer the killer he once was.

”Hahaha, that’s your style, isn’t it? Regardless of how many are there, just kill them all first. But this time... never mind, my only hope to survive is gone. Living means nothing.”

From his tone, it was clear that Hai Dong had lost all hope. His only pillar was gone, and other than revenge, he had no thoughts left.

”How much longer can you hold on?”

”At most a few minutes; took three bullets, my lungs are pierced, and my heart’s damaged to some extent. Can’t be saved.”

”Oh.”

Su Xiao rested his elbow on the table and covered his eyes with one hand.

”Friend, don’t grieve over me. We’re executioners drenched in blood; it’s karma, bound to catch up with us one day.”

”Mhm.”

Su Xiao’s aura grew increasingly berserk: ”The one you want dead, is he?”

”Just missed by a bit.”

”Who!”

”...”

The call fell silent for a moment.

”I reached out to you not for help in killing, just to chat. You’ve changed, and it’s a good change. I’m hanging up.”

Inside an abandoned factory, a dark-haired man covered in blood ended the call, using all his strength to smash the phone and break the SIM card.

”You’ve changed. No longer that lifeless avenger or killer with dead eyes in youth. Congratulations on living freely, I’m genuinely envious. As a friend, I hope you maintain this mindset.”

The man’s chest rose and fell ever so weakly. With his last strength, he took out a lighter, ignited it, and threw it onto a pile of clothes soaked in gasoline at his feet. The flames quickly enveloped the area.

...

In the jewelry store, Su Xiao’s breathing gradually calmed. His best friend was dead.

”Bu Bu.”

Seeing something was off with Su Xiao, Bubu Wang rushed forward.

”Track the scent on the phone.”

”Woof.”

Bubu Wang brought his head close to the phone and sniffed carefully for several minutes.

”Woof!”

Bubu Wang dashed out of the jewelry store, and Su Xiao followed immediately, with Ma Fatty standing at the door.

”Borrowing the car.”

”No problem, don’t take that old car; there’s something big in my garage.”

Ma Fatty tossed him a set of keys.

”Thanks.”

Su Xiao and Bubu Wang made their way toward the street corner.

”Someone’s in trouble.”

Black Skin appeared at the store entrance at some unknown time.

”I’ve known Su Xiao for a while and never seen him look like this. I wonder who’s so unlucky.”

...

In the city, Xiangrui Garden Community.

Unlike regular residential areas, Xiangrui Garden Community had no high-rises. The community is made up of standalone villas located on the city’s edge, where the air is particularly fresh.

In the center of the community, inside a villa, a few young people sat in the living room playing cards. One young man wearing ear studs seemed agitated.

”Damn it, when will these cursed days end? What does that mad dog want?”

The young man with ear studs threw down his cards. He had been hiding there for almost a week.

”Brother Xu, what did you do to provoke that psycho? I overheard your old man saying he’s a professional killer? Must be badass.”

A fair-skinned, delicate-looking young man also tossed his cards and took a sip from a glass on the coffee table.

”Don’t bring it up, I just took the dog out for a walk. You know pitbulls, can’t walk them in the city, so I went near West Ring Road. Who knew a kid would suddenly dart out? A dog will chase whoever runs. Can I hold back a pitbull’s strength? Two bites, and the kid was dead.”

The young man with ear studs, Zhang Xutian, had a father whose assets ranked in the city’s top three. Though he was a wealthy second generation, indulging in luxury every day, he never resorted to tyranny. He had two hobbies: women and fierce dogs.

About a week ago, Zhang Xutian was out walking his beloved dog. Just a day before, Hai Dong arrived in the city with his son, hearing that Su Xiao was wanted, then soon the manhunt was called off. He brought his son over to find Su Xiao, with no serious agenda but a reunion after a long time apart.

Whether they could find Su Xiao was uncertain. Phone contact wasn’t possible, as the two changed numbers as often as they changed clothes.

Hai Dong’s son was very well-behaved, 7 years old and in primary school. Hai Dong thought that since Su Xiao’s notorious reputation was established in the city but had stopped killing, even if something happened to him someday, Su Xiao could take care of his son.

On the day of the incident, Xudong accepted a commission—not to kill, but to hospitalize the target for over a year. Assassinations weren’t always about killing.

The client behind the commission was influential, and Hai Dong couldn’t refuse, so he left his son alone in their rental. This wasn’t the first or second time, but a routine for the father and son; he couldn’t take his family along during a job, and he didn’t want his son to get involved in the assassin world.

When Hai Dong finished his job and returned to the city, ready to see Su Xiao with his son, he instead found his son’s cold body with bloody bite marks all over his tender neck.

Perhaps this was karma. No matter how loyal Hai Dong was to his friends, he still earned his living through killing.
