Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

And the size of this tomb was also within a fairly normal range.

Comparing it to the circle he had drawn, Alka began doing a simple layout of where they were now.

The whole circular area they had just probed with a 1‑kilometer radius was clearly a bit too large.

The diameter of this circle should only be around 700 meters; counting in errors, at most 1 kilometer.

”This should be the tomb of someone powerful and influential. According to what’s written here, a tomb of this sort should have proper passageways.

Because on some major festivals, the descendants would enter the tomb to perform rites.”

As Alka spoke, he started from the circle he had just drawn and, using some classic tomb construction cases as reference, began a rough layout.

After a bit of planning, he fixed several points.

”We’ll dig down from these points.”

Alka felt these points should still be outside the tomb proper, but probably very close to it, making it easier to detect the edges of the tomb.

That way they could detect the tomb without damaging it or, rather, without disturbing it.

Hearing Alka’s words, the others nodded.

They started searching on the spot for the points.

After finding and marking them, Simon began constructing a machine for excavation. He directly deployed his Treasure and piloted a huge Mecha.

The Mecha’s hands reconfigured through a series of mechanical structures into a power drill and other digging tools.

Once started, the effect was powerful and the efficiency maxed out; very quickly a pit seven or eight meters deep appeared, but it wasn’t dug very wide, just enough for Chadite to jump into.

Once it was dug, Chadite jumped straight in and began probing below.

”Extended another three meters, still nothing unusual.”

Alka nodded, thought for a moment, and said, ”Let’s go to the other points first and dig pits of the same depth there before we go any deeper.”

Simon nodded, and the group moved into action again.

In this way they dug a total of six deep pits, each with the same dimensions, but just as Chadite had said, the extra probing distance downward didn’t reveal anything more. So they began a slow, incremental excavation.

......

A few hours later.

Pit No. 3 had reached a depth of 20 meters.

When Chadite jumped in again, this time her eyes glowed and a smile tugged at the corner of her mouth.

”Found it. An arc‑shaped wall of artificial construction, a full 40 meters below the surface. It’s protected all around by very solid stone blocks.”

Hearing that the structure had been confirmed, the group broke into smiles. After working so long, they finally had some gains.

”It’s still 30 meters from where I am now.” Chadite gestured as she spoke.

Then she pointed in a direction.

After a quick calculation, Simon said, ”We’d better move closer and dig a new shaft.”

Since Simon had said so, the others naturally had no objections.

Once they picked the spot, they started drilling down again. This time they needed to dig a shaft deep enough. And the stone below, together with the Abyssal aura, would have an impact, so they had to take it slow and couldn’t rush it.

After spending a bit more than three hours, they finally reached a pit a full 45 meters deep.

They could already feel the Abyssal aura inside. This aura seeped into the underground through the earth and affected the entire World Scar.

After widening the mouth of the shaft, Chadite started a more detailed probe and layout at the bottom.

Down to the precision of how many meters to dig before stopping.

”From here, dig another three meters. After three meters, we’ll be only one meter from the wall. Then I’ll do a more careful check to see if there are any traps or similar things.”

Hearing Chadite’s words, Simon nodded and jumped down again, starting to dig more gently. This time he couldn’t go as fast as before; he had to work delicately.

But since it was only a few meters, it was cleared quickly. Chadite pressed herself against the dirt wall again to probe.

Silver ripples passed through the stone and detected the location of the tomb.

She quickly confirmed the information she wanted.

”No traps in this direction. We can open it.”

They opened up the last meter in short order, and once the soil was cleared away, everyone could clearly see that the exposed stone was gray.

Although this stone was sturdy, it wasn’t rare. It was a very common building material; the Demon Defense Fortress mainly used this kind of stone.

”Can we start cutting through it?” Simon asked.

”Yes. Normal, light work shouldn’t be a problem.”

Hearing this, Simon, of course, moved into action and quickly opened a hole. They could see a pitch‑black space inside.

A faintly decayed odor drifted out from within, along with a dull, oppressive smell.

”Now we just need to widen the opening.”

”How about I go in first and check the situation inside?” Lucilia looked at the opening and asked.

The opening was just big enough for her to squeeze through.

Alka thought it over when he heard this, then nodded.

Lucilia’s figure slipped into the shadows at once, disappearing from where she stood and entering through the opening.

She began to explore inside the tomb.

However, she only scouted around the area near the opening before she slipped back out from within.

”There shouldn’t be anything around here.”

The small opening was widened by Simon until they could all squeeze through.

He also brought out steel frames to brace it, in case their recent work had caused any issues in the tomb’s structure.
