Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

”Stay alert, but don’t get overly tense. Days like this are something you’ll be going through often in the future.”

The officer named Salaro said this to a soldier who seemed to be a new recruit, patting his shoulder and shaking his hand, telling him not to be too nervous.

Alka simply followed quietly behind him.

To be honest, the officer named Salaro in front of him didn’t look like he was preparing to defend against a Demon assault at all; he looked more like he was out for a casual stroll.

He wasn’t nervous; in fact, he seemed rather relaxed and at ease.

Down below, Alka looked at the Demons at the foot of the wall.

Most of the Demons had skin the same as before, a dark red hue, but this time the types of Demons had become much more varied.

Yet it was hard to see any discipline in the Demon ranks: small, skinny imps, and big, burly brute Demons.

All kinds of mid-tier Demons and lesser Demons were everywhere.

They even trampled each other as they surged toward the city wall like a swarm.

Some of the smaller Demons who couldn’t dodge in time and were slower on their feet were directly trampled to death by their own side in this charge.

They died in an incredibly miserable, stifling way.

”Fire!”

With a roar from above their heads.

All sorts of projectiles flew out from the cannon barrels; each shell was as big as a head.

These shells, shrieking through the air, flew over the Demon formations and then burst apart. Dense, finger-sized objects fell down.

Then came the sound of explosions.

The explosive power of these small projectiles was far greater than Alka had imagined, and the flames they produced were a brilliant golden color.

Alka could already feel it—there was the power of Holy Light in them, and upon closer sensing, it was the power of the Holy Mother.

Obviously, Holy Light materials from the Holy Mother Church had been applied inside, or in other words, they contained components of Holy Water.

”The Demons we’re seeing now can all be considered cannon fodder among the Demons.” Salaro stood on a section of the wall, speaking to Alka beside him.

Alka looked at the Demons below. He even saw organized units of the Fourth Stage among them, and even scattered Fifth Stage individuals.

”These can be considered cannon fodder too?” Alka asked, somewhat puzzled.

As they spoke, the stronger Demons had already begun hurling all kinds of long-range attacks.

These ranged attacks were Fireballs wrapped in lava and flame, shooting toward them.

But then those Fireballs were blocked, and seemed more bark than bite.

”They certainly can be considered cannon fodder. As much as we sometimes don’t want to admit it, for us, those powerful individuals at the Fourth Stage and Fifth Stage really don’t amount to much in the eyes of the Demons.

Their numbers will far exceed your imagination. Only when there is a sufficiently powerful leader do these strong Demons follow even a faint semblance of tactics in their assaults.

Normally they’re like raving lunatics, nothing to worry too much about. That’s also why we’ve been able to hold out until now. Of course, another reason is Treasures.”

As he spoke, Salaro smiled. A blade of ice condensed in his hand, and he tossed it down.

The power he used was not from a Treasure, but a Spell; Alka could still see that much.

”You should know, most Demons fight relying on instinctive Spells and the strength of their bodies.

Their combat technique is incredibly fierce, but overall you’ll find they’re fighting by instinct.

Treasures can grant us abilities far superior to Demons of the same level. Of course, at least the Treasure has to be one that’s beneficial for direct combat.”

Salaro explained to Alka at his side. He didn’t ask whether Alka understood; he simply followed his own logic and train of thought, speaking nonstop.

Alka didn’t interrupt this at all, merely nodding from time to time as he watched the battle below.

Just as Salaro had said, Treasures granted them combat strength on par with powerful opponents of the same rank. As long as the function of a Treasure leaned toward combat to some degree, at the same level They were almost always somewhat stronger than Demons of the same tier.

As they mastered more and more Treasures, They would only grow stronger, and even fighting above their level would no longer be difficult.

After all, Treasures were something only their world possessed; the developmental path their world had gone through simply couldn’t be replicated.

This could be clearly seen in Alka and the others: against Demons of the same level, Alka and his companions were absolute superiors.

With the support and coordination of all kinds of Treasures, the strength of Alka and his group had long surpassed what their current stage should have allowed.

Thinking this, he walked along the city wall.

The section of wall Alka was walking on, connected continuously from afar, was actually the second layer of this fortress area.

The first layer of wall was about two meters lower than the one they were currently on.

It was beneath Alka and his companions.

Down there were many city defense devices, such as various liquids that could be poured down to inflict massive damage on Demons, as well as some soldiers specialized in close combat.

And hidden in that section were also traps and similar mechanisms.

The layer They were on was the main battle area, where all sorts of soldiers capable of long-range attacks and some people who didn’t quite look like soldiers were stationed.

Behind Alka, above his head, was the third layer of the wall, about three to four meters higher than the second layer.
