Treasure Hunting System： The Ocean Conquerer

Only Alka remained in place.

”Aren’t you going to harvest, brother? These furs are quite valuable, don’t underestimate them. It’s uncomfortable to have no gains after being exhausted for so long.”

Putuo, who was skinning, looked at Alka standing there and said. Then he glanced at the monsters in front of him and silently closed his mouth.

The monsters around Alka were all burned to various kinds of charcoal. The fur, if it had skin, was already considered good, let alone the fur.

An awkward Putuo thought for a moment and said, ”Although the most precious fur is gone, the teeth are also invaluable materials.”

”Some mutated organs are still useful, it’s just that sometimes I can’t quite distinguish them.”

Alka looked at the scorched surroundings and waved his hand.

”Forget it, forget it.”

He found it too troublesome, and besides, he was quite rich already.

Putuo did not insist either, as the wolves’ value mainly lay in their fur. After all, they were infected by the abyss, so the meat was inedible.

Teeth and fur were the only two resources. Mutated organs were useful, but recognizing them relied on luck and skill. Compared to fur, teeth weren’t very valuable and were hard to extract, posing a risk of getting hurt.

He busied himself for a while, completely ignoring the monsters’ mouths.

At this time, a soldier came to Alka: ”Friend, could you do us the favor of incinerating the carcasses of these wolves later?”

During the recent battle, Alka had clearly demonstrated his fire abilities.

Alka nodded, indicating that it wasn’t a problem.

It was simply a favor.

Seeing Alka agree, the soldier smiled: ”Thank you for your help.”

From the previous battle, they knew Alka was likely the strongest among them. He had almost single-handedly dealt with a small portion of the wolf corpses and still found time to help those around him.

He appeared quite at ease, exuding a sense of relaxed leisure.

Without Alka’s help, some of them would have undoubtedly paid a price.

This is why the convoy became increasingly warm towards Alka.

As the convoy continued, a physician accompanying them began bandaging people, while the mercenaries also had medics starting to take action.

Everyone was more or less able to handle simple minor injuries, and the convoy provided free medicinal supplies.

”Even though they’re just minor wounds, since they were inflicted by those abyss-mutated wolves, there’s bound to be some strange virus. Proper treatment is necessary,” Putuo said after having mostly collected the furs.

Then, everyone moved the corpses into a pile, stacking them into a small hill.

Once done, Alka’s Red Card floated beside him, and he flicked it lightly towards the pile of corpses.

A Fire Bullet shot out, colliding into the pile. Instantly, a roaring fire engulfed and consumed the bodies.

Thick smoke rose, carrying a scent of roasted meat.

After the fire was set, the convoy began to move again.

Unbeknownst to them, dawn had broken.

”The smell’s making me hungry,” said Putuo, rubbing his shoulder.

Remembering something, he approached Alka and said, ”Brother, do you mind if we cook some meat as we go?”

”?” Alka looked at him in confusion.

Putuo smiled, taking out a piece of meat, and seasoned it using a steel tong.

”You control the fire, and I’ll grill.”

Hearing this, Alka glanced at him speechlessly.

However, he was indeed a bit hungry, so he raised his hand, and a concentrated flame burst forth.

”Oh, right, right. Trust me, brother. I might not be good at much, but my barbecue skills are top-notch.”

Even better than Juanlu? Alka thought silently, but he still controlled the heat.

Once cooked, the grilled meat was shared with the nearby people and Alka.

Alka took a few bites and thought it was decent, not bad to eat, but still far from Juanlu’s standards.

Seeing Alka’s indifferent expression, Putuo said, ”Looks like my barbecue doesn’t suit your taste.”

”It’s alright, but compared to my companion, it doesn’t measure up.” Alka said with a smile.

”You’re not alone, you have companions?”

”That’s right, they’re waiting for me at Giant Stone Port. If we meet again, I can introduce you to his cooking.

He’s a fairly renowned chef.”

”A renowned chef?” Putuo was intrigued and nodded, ”No problem; if we meet again, you must invite me to try.”

They continued chatting while moving forward with the convoy.

...

After over a week of continuous day-and-night travel, the convoy was finally close to the logistics camp.

From afar, Alka saw a fortress on the horizon.

Many soldiers patrolled the area, and Alka noticed all sorts of uneven terrain around them.

The fortress was even larger than Alka had imagined.

It could already be considered a stronghold.

This was where they would part ways.

”Good brother, I hope we meet again,” Putuo said to Alka with his mercenary team.

Alka clasped his hands: ”May the Holy Mother bless you with safety.”

Putuo and his mercenary team returned the gesture, then they each went their own way.

There were also some guards they had met who would return after resting here, who also knew Alka.

After exchanging greetings, Alka learned some information before leaving.

He didn’t leave immediately but searched for the two Demon Hunters.

They had had a brief interaction before, and they didn’t mind at all. Mainly because during a previous battle, Alka had helped them once.

Over the week, they had actually encountered three battles.

Thus the three of them set off together.

They traveled through a troop corridor directly to the wall.

Alka looked at the walls snaking forward, disappearing into the horizon.

The section of the wall he was at was only about three to four meters high, but this area was elevated, which, combined with the slope below, made it about twenty to thirty meters high.

Sentries were stationed at regular intervals.

Quietly, they moved along the wall, heading rightward with the two Demon Hunters.

After walking for a while, Alka gained some understanding, realizing the wall height varied with the terrain.

This was also a material-saving measure.

Some sections ended abruptly, relying on towering mountain peaks for defense, often having small supply or rest stations built on the protruding peaks.

There would sometimes be a couple of arrow towers built alongside.

Beyond the wall, the region controlled by demons was visible.

Alka could see various battle scars in that area from a distance. He even saw imps and low demons scavenging on demon corpses.

The land itself was a scorching area flowing with lava.
