Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

”Ugh... Where am I...”

When Shiho Miyano opened her eyes, what she saw was... an unfamiliar ceiling.

At the same time, a familiar voice rang in her ears.

”Thank goodness, you’re finally awake!”

”Huh?”

Hearing that voice, Shiho tensed up all over, then turned her head to look beside her. To her surprise, it wasn’t a member of the Black Organization she expected to see by the bed, but rather...

”Sister?!”

Fang Zheng had left Shiho Miyano with Akemi Miyano, while he himself quietly drank tea in the living room. He had already been mistaken once when Akemi Miyano regained consciousness, and replaying the same scene twice was boring, so he decided it was best to wait until Akemi explained things to Shiho before he appeared.

Besides, what’s wrong with wearing black clothes? Spirit, stylishness, coolness—why is it only the Black Organization that can wear black, and he can’t?

I, Fang Zheng, stand for black apparel!

Damn it!

After a while, accompanied by footsteps, Akemi Miyano brought her sister in front of Fang Zheng.

”Mr. Fang Zheng...”

”Woken up? So she really is your sister, right.”

Fang Zheng glanced at Akemi Miyano, who nodded with a complex expression.

”Yes...”

Which is understandable, after all, a sister who was originally only a few years younger suddenly became more than ten years younger... Akemi Miyano’s bewilderment was also normal.

”Who exactly are you?”

Standing beside Akemi Miyano, Shiho Miyano looked at Fang Zheng warily. Although he had saved her sister and helped her escape the organization, Shiho remained cautious of Fang Zheng. After all, according to her sister, this man was mysterious himself. Moreover, unlike Akemi Miyano, Shiho Miyano was a top scientist in the organization, storing a lot of intelligence and data in her mind.

Therefore, Shiho Miyano was also worried about whether this man would take her sister as a hostage like the organization did, and force her to develop some kind of poison.

Hmm... Perhaps it’s time to add some setting details.

Watching Shiho Miyano, who was staring at him warily, Fang Zheng put down the teacup in his hand and slightly curled his lips.

”I am a tracker. To be precise, my target is the BOSS of your organization. My goal is to find him, capture him, or kill him.”

”But sister said you’re neither a cop nor an agent.”

Upon hearing this, Shiho Miyano grew more confused. Like Akemi, she initially thought Fang Zheng was some kind of agent, but Akemi said no...

”Of course, I have no connection with the national forces of your planet and don’t want to get involved.”

”You’re not going to say you’re an Alien, are you?”

Hearing this, Shiho Miyano couldn’t help but make a sarcastic remark, but unexpectedly, Fang Zheng nodded calmly.

”If you think about it from your perspective, you can consider it that way. I come from a world more advanced than your civilization, and your organization’s leader is the same as me. Does this make sense to you now?”

”Huh?”

Faced with Fang Zheng’s response, Akemi Miyano and Shiho Miyano were stunned, the latter’s eyes widening in surprise.

”Wait, wait a minute, are you saying that the organization’s leader is an Alien like you? That’s too far-fetched.”

”Oh? How do you know it’s not true? Have you seen him?”

”I...of course I haven’t seen him, but...but...”

As she spoke, Shiho Miyano also started to think.

”But... if what you say is true and our BOSS is from a more advanced technological world like you, then why have I never seen anything like that in the organization? Moreover, why would he need us to serve him; he could clearly just...”

Hearing Shiho Miyano’s inquiry, Fang Zheng chuckled.

”If I drop you into the Middle Ages, can you produce vitamins for me?”

”................”

Shiho Miyano shook her head silently.

That’s obviously impossible.

”So if you needed to produce vitamins or medicine in the Middle Ages, what would you require?”

”I...let me think, I’d need equipment, facilities, and raw materials, but those things simply couldn’t be made in that era or environment...”

At this point, as if realizing something, Shiho Miyano’s eyes grew brighter.

”I’d need to establish an organization, first gather a large sum of money, then communicate and trade with people of that time to get the materials I need and raise the technology level as much as possible...”

Murmuring to herself, Shiho Miyano looked up in surprise at Fang Zheng. Initially, she thought this concept was ludicrous, but when Fang Zheng gave her a scenario to consider, she suddenly saw just how appropriate it would be to establish a force like the Black Organization!

And not to forget the drug she was tasked to make!

Akemi wasn’t in the know, but Shiho was well aware of the intended effect of the drug she was developing. APTX4869 was merely an accidental by-product; her original target was not to create poison!

However...

”Wait, if that’s the case, then why doesn’t he manufacture this drug himself instead of letting us research it?”

Upon thinking this, Shiho posed her second question, even though her heart was already slightly inclined to believe Fang Zheng’s words. Still, she couldn’t understand—if her assumptions were correct, she would never let such a thing leak out herself.

If Shiho Miyano traveled to the Middle Ages with a formula like this, she would certainly keep it a secret!

However, faced with Shiho Miyano’s query, Fang Zheng just drank his tea silently before glancing at her.

”You know what an engine is, right?”

”Of course I know that.”

”Then make one for me.”

”...............”

This left Shiho Miyano speechless. She’s good at biochemical research, but building an engine? That’s beyond her expertise!

However, Shiho Miyano also understood Fang Zheng’s point. Indeed, when the organization provided her with information, they only stated that they wanted her to research a drug with a certain effect, and she had been working in that direction. But if everything was as Fang Zheng said, it indicated that the BOSS of the organization likely knew what the drug was supposed to do but not how to make it. Therefore, they pointed her in the right direction for her to conduct the research?

”But I still don’t understand why, if that’s the case, you guys don’t send more people to just capture him directly?”

”Because there’s no need.”

Fang Zheng put down the teacup, shrugged his shoulders.

”Do your law enforcement agencies mobilize everyone to catch a mere petty thief? To me, this is just a task. Of course, if the target tried to destroy human civilization, I would request fleet support. But the fact is, things haven’t escalated to that point yet.”

”But you could completely communicate with the governments...”

”And then let those foolish mortals bargain with me, trying to extract some benefits?”

Fang Zheng scoffed.

”I’d rather do it myself. It’s our standing policy not to interfere with the progress of various planetary civilizations, so I won’t engage with those regime organizations.”

Fang Zheng said these things not just to casually fool Shiho Miyano. In fact, he had his own agenda.

That was to enhance Attribute Levels.

In the Conan World, there is a Science Fiction Attribute.

Never mind the Bowtie Voice Changer, Conan’s Skateboard, and other gadgets; even the concept of turning a person into a child is quite sci-fi.

But since this world is primarily focused on mystery, the Science Fiction Attribute is more like a decoration, like the gadgets Conan uses mainly to make up for his shortcomings in deduction.

However, having a Science Fiction Attribute gives Fang Zheng space to utilize. This world doesn’t have a Magic Attribute, which means Fang Zheng can’t use any mystic-side techniques. But because of the presence of Science Fiction Attributes, Fang Zheng can still employ some high-level science-side skills.

If he could enhance that part of the attribute, increasing it, then the scientific powers Fang Zheng can wield would also grow.

This is much like the COST in mobile games—players start with a low COST value, unable to directly assemble a Five Stars character team.

To increase the COST, allowing other pulled Five Stars characters to join the team, requires leveling up to increase the COST cap.

Fang Zheng faces the same dilemma now. With the current sci-fi COST level of this world, he can only use a personal terminal. But once he successfully deepens major figures’ impressions of the sci-fi side, the COST limit would rise, and later on, Fang Zheng might indeed be able to summon a warship to roam the streets.

This is another reason why Fang Zheng spins tales at Shiho Miyano.

Of course, he isn’t lying—if the Black Organization’s boss is really a polluted member of the Order Clan from this Star System, then he’s undoubtedly a guy from a higher civilization.

”I understand you now.”

Shiho Miyano, being a scientist, quickly grasped Fang Zheng’s words, while Akemi Miyano was completely bewildered.

”But, these are just your words. Unless there’s evidence, it sounds more like your own delusions...”

”Evidence, huh...”

Upon hearing this, Fang Zheng squinted, then silently opened his personal terminal and aimed it at Shiho Miyano.

”Wanna give it a shot, little sister?”
