Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

From Akemi Miyano, Fang Zheng also learned a bit about the Black Organization. Although Akemi Miyano is a low-level member, Fang Zheng didn’t expect her to know the organization’s internal secrets, but from some details, Fang Zheng was still able to spot quite a few issues.

First, the main structure of the organization somewhat resembles those legendary groups like the Templar Order; almost everyone does not reveal their identity on the surface. Like Akemi Miyano herself, she has her own life and job daily, and being an organization member is more like a hobby group; unless there is an event, she usually doesn’t have any engagement.

Once the organization has an ”activity,” then bottom-tier members like Akemi Miyano are put to use. But in fact, they can’t do much, and the organization won’t explain the reasons to them. For example, when the organization asked Akemi Miyano to rob the bank this time, they didn’t say what they needed ten billion yen for; they just told Akemi Miyano to talk after succeeding, not if failing.

To put it bluntly, Akemi Miyano is given a task, and what she has to do is complete this task, without worrying about anything else. As for how to complete it, that’s up to her, and the organization won’t care. Whether she wants to find people or do it herself, or come up with some scheme, that’s her own problem.

In fact, the other two suspects remaining in this bank heist were also brought in by Akemi Miyano herself and were unrelated to the organization. They didn’t know anything about the organization; they were fugitives in need of money, so under Akemi Miyano’s instigation, they decided to go big.

As the saying goes, take a gamble, and a bicycle becomes a motorcycle.

Therefore, even if something unexpected happens, they won’t confess anything related to the organization. And even if they are killed, the police won’t find any organizational-related clues on them.

Next, if Akemi Miyano is dealt with, then the whereabouts of the ten billion yen become impossible to trace.

As for her sister Shiho Miyano’s whereabouts, Akemi Miyano also couldn’t say. The internal confidentiality mechanism of the organization is extremely strict. Especially with her sister having a codename, even more so. In fact, during phone conversations with Akemi Miyano, her sister couldn’t even tell Akemi Miyano where she was or what research she was doing.

From this point, the Black Organization is quite like a security unit. You can call your family for peace and chat about recent events, but trying to disclose your location or research content would be considered leaking secrets.

At worst, Gin would come out to handle you.

As for the ultimate goal of the Black Organization, Akemi Miyano claimed—she couldn’t discern it either.

According to her, the Black Organization often funds talented young people through various charitable foundations, and her sister is one of the beneficiaries. However, unlike Phantom Thief Kid, the Black Organization doesn’t seem interested in artworks and antiques; most of what Akemi Miyano handled was in the fields of biotechnology and electronics.

It seems that the Black Organization is different from financiers; they are into real industries.

From this standpoint, the Black Organization is much better than Wall Street.

But other than that, Akemi Miyano doesn’t know much. As a peripheral member, the most she does is provide intelligence to the organization, just like the ten billion yen heist this time, applying for a fake identity as a bank employee, then figuring out various layouts and intelligence data inside. If Akemi Miyano hadn’t required her sister’s exit from the organization, after finding out the details and submitting them, she could have left with an excuse, not caring about how the organization would act based on the data.

So after investigating around, just as Fang Zheng complained, Akemi Miyano herself...... really didn’t know much about the organization.

So it would be wise to focus on finding Shiho Miyano.

As mentioned before, Fang Zheng doesn’t like using evidence and clues for reasoning; he prefers directly confronting the suspect, seeing through the opponent at a glance, and using language to break the opponent’s psychological defense, making them voluntarily confess. Unlike Conan, who has to submit evidence after pointing out the suspect to convince them......

With only the clues provided by Akemi Miyano, Fang Zheng estimates it’s difficult to find Shiho Miyano, even if Conan were to come, but it’s not entirely hopeless.

Because...... he can reverse deduce!

Fang Zheng remembers vividly the episode where Haibara Ai appears, so he can completely reverse deduce to lock in the target. According to the clues given by Haibara Ai, she was confined by the organization, attempted suicide with drugs but turned into a child, escaped through a waste outlet, and ended up at Dr. Agasa’s doorstep, unconscious.

Although the anime didn’t specify the location, there are a few key shots that can be referenced.

First, one scene shows Haibara Ai, wearing a lab coat, walking alone on the street, with the street raining at the time.

And when Haibara Ai collapses at Dr. Agasa’s doorstep, the rain was still falling.

When Shiho Miyano became Haibara Ai, a child couldn’t have gotten too far, not to mention Shiho Miyano had just ingested the drug, was very weak, and would be even slower.

Considering these two points, Haibara Ai walked from the organization’s base to Dr. Agasa’s doorstep, meaning searching around Dr. Agasa’s house for nearby pharmaceutical companies and firms could yield results quickly.

Which is exactly what happened.

It didn’t take long for Fang Zheng to locate several pharmaceutical companies in Beika Town, so he took Akemi Miyano to the streets to check them one by one.

For safety’s sake, Fang Zheng has given up using firearms. He’s realized that the Will of the World won’t directly target him, but instead targets things around him. Otherwise, when he dealt with Gin, it wouldn’t have jammed, or directly caused him to suddenly fall ill. Wouldn’t it be simpler?

Upon reflection, this makes sense. After all, Fang Zheng also possesses the Order Seal from the Order Clan, having GM privileges, so the Will of the World can’t affect him directly. Hence, it interferes with the things around him to indirectly achieve its goals.

This means that if Fang Zheng directly goes up to punch Gin, the Will of the World can’t do anything to him.

However, this implies that in the future, Fang Zheng can’t use handguns, sniper rifles, or bombs against Gin...... otherwise, the Will of the World might cause a barrel explosion, malfunction a sniper rifle, or a timer malfunction......

In this light, learning karate like Ran was a correct choice.

”Um.......”

Sitting in the car, with dressed-up Akemi Miyano, feeling somewhat insecure, glanced at Fang Zheng, who was holding the steering wheel. She felt unreal because just after Akemi Miyano said she hoped Fang Zheng would save her sister, Fang Zheng opened the map and quickly decided to start investigating from nearby pharmaceutical companies, which surprised Akemi Miyano more than anything......

”What’s up?”

Hearing Akemi Miyano’s voice, Fang Zheng glanced at her.

”Um...... I wanted to say, aren’t you suspicious of me in the slightest? Could it be that I’m trying to lure you into the organization’s trap?”

Indeed, Akemi Miyano couldn’t comprehend why Fang Zheng would be so enthusiastic. It wasn’t like he was interested in her; on the contrary, he seemed very interested in everything about the organization...

”It doesn’t matter.”

Yet Fang Zheng gave Akemi Miyano a completely unexpected answer.

”As I said, I’ve been tracking your organization. If you dare to appear in front of me, that would be all the better.”

”B-but...... you might die?!”

Indeed, this was the point Akemi Miyano couldn’t understand. She once met a man named Hoshi Dai in the organization; he seemed to be an undercover agent sent by some secret agency to the Black Organization. That man was smart and capable, yet even he was extremely cautious.

Akemi Miyano was confident that if it were him, he wouldn’t hastily act on such ambiguous information, yet Fang Zheng appeared to not care at all?

”Heh, don’t worry about that.”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng’s lips curled slightly.

”I can tell you clearly, there is nothing in this world that can kill me. This is also another reason why I dare to pursue your organization... Your organization simply cannot stop me. If they want to kill me, it actually gives me a chance to eliminate the organization. Mm, I do hope they’re really that stupid... give me this opportunity instead of running from me like old mice.”

”.........”

Hearing such an arrogant speech, Akemi Miyano took a deep breath. To be honest, reason told her that this was nothing but exaggerated arrogance. She wanted to remind Fang Zheng of how powerful the Black Organization was. He was just one person, there was no way he could fight an entire Black Organization.

But instinct told her that what Fang Zheng said was the truth. Akemi Miyano was not foolish; there was also evidence supporting her feelings. After all, when she was shot by Gin, Akemi Miyano distinctly felt she was fatally injured, that she wouldn’t survive for long. And yet, the fact was that Fang Zheng appeared here now and rescued her.

This also meant that Fang Zheng arrived at the scene quickly at that time, and even fought with Gin and the others, possibly even defeating them. Otherwise, there’s no way she could have been saved.

But still... it was hard to imagine, just who was he!

”Plop... plop.”

At this moment, raindrops began hitting the car window glass. Fang Zheng raised his head and glanced at the window in front of him.

Hmm... it’s raining. Does that mean... it’s today?

No way, is the plot really this rushed?

”It’s raining, should we head back?”

Seeing the increasing rain outside, Akemi Miyano began to feel a little uneasy.

”Rainy days aren’t great for action, are they...”

”No, this is good... let’s go.”

Fang Zheng said, stepping on the gas pedal, and the car shot forward at high speed.

But unfortunately, they were still a step late.

”Fire, there’s a fire!”

Just as Fang Zheng turned the corner in the car, he heard shouting and saw faint firelight in the distance... could it really be this coincidental?

Seeing this scene, Fang Zheng furrowed his brow, then continued driving forward.

By now, the road ahead was completely jammed. Fang Zheng raised his head, looking forward, and could clearly see the pharmaceutical company engulfed in flames... So, Haibara Ai had already run away?

Seeing this, Fang Zheng finally connected this part of the animation — Shiho Miyano was imprisoned by the organization’s members, and to commit suicide, she swallowed poison, shrinking into a child, escaping through a garbage chute. When the organization members found Shiho Miyano missing, their first thought was to destroy all information related to the pharmaceutical company immediately. After all, if Shiho Miyano went to the police, the organization’s confidential information wouldn’t be safe.

So they simply burned it all.

It has to be said, the Black Organization is straightforward. Usually, the logical response would be to catch the person who ran away first. But the Black Organization clearly cared more about not letting their secrets leak. As for Shiho Miyano — they can’t find her now, but eventually, they’ll catch her and settle the score.

Thinking of this, Fang Zheng silently turned the steering wheel and changed direction. Akemi Miyano also saw this, but not knowing the plot, she was only worried, nervously and anxiously watching the burning building, unsure of what to say. Meanwhile, Fang Zheng drove back along the road they had come, thinking that since Shiho Miyano would go to find Kudou Shinichi, she would choose the shortest route, making it easier for him to intercept her... hm?

At this moment, Fang Zheng saw a white figure flash in the alley in the distance, and he raised an eyebrow.

Found you!

”Haah... haah...”

Meanwhile, in the rain, dressed in a white lab coat, the child-sized Shiho Miyano wandered aimlessly forward. Barefoot, eyes expressionless, there were several moments when Shiho Miyano simply wanted to collapse onto the ground and close her eyes forever.

But... she couldn’t die yet!

She had to find Kudou Shinichi!

She had to take revenge on the organization that killed her sister!

As Shiho Miyano gritted her teeth and walked out of the alley, suddenly a blinding car light appeared, making Shiho Miyano instinctively raise her hand to shield her eyes. Then, squinting, she looked forward uneasily, and saw a pitch-black sedan stop at the path in front of her. The car door opened, and a man wearing a black wide-brimmed hat and black trench coat stepped out from the driver’s seat, walking slowly towards her.

As expected... in the end, she couldn’t escape the organization?

Seeing this, an overwhelming sense of despair and indignation surged inside Shiho Miyano, and she rolled her eyes, fainting on the ground.

”.........”

Looking at the unconscious Shiho Miyano before him, Fang Zheng was speechless.

Come on, I’m so handsome, why do you act like you’ve seen a ghost? Can’t people who aren’t from the Black Organization wear black clothes?

MMP, from now on, I’ll wear black every day!

Grumbling inwardly, Fang Zheng walked up to Shiho Miyano, picked her up. At this point, Akemi Miyano hurriedly got out of the car and rushed to Fang Zheng’s side.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, what happened? This little girl is... eh?”

Seeing the unconscious little girl in Fang Zheng’s arms, Akemi Miyano was utterly stunned.

”Isn’t this... Shiho?!”

”Are you sure?”

Fang Zheng glanced at Akemi Miyano silently.

”Hiring child labor is illegal, you know.”
