Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1642: Chapter 1640: This Abnormal World!

To be honest, at first Fang Zheng really thought this was a normal world.

After all, everything around looked pretty normal, and people seemed normal too.

But now... he’s completely overturned his judgment.

Lina Inverse was already quite abnormal, and this person called Megumin, not only had a weird name, but she was also an oddball!

In a certain sense, she’s even more dangerous than Lina Inverse. At least Lina Inverse only casts Dragon-Slaying Spell when she sees an enemy, while Megumin wouldn’t rest until she unleashed a Burst Magic every day!

What kind of people are these!

”Sorry, we can’t have you in the team.”

Fang Zheng decisively made up his mind, jokingly, if this problem child were added, he felt he’d not only get a headache but a stomachache too.

”Huh? Wait, wait! I’m a Great Mage, you know!”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s response, Megumin panicked.

”My goal is Burst Magic, I can forego rewards for that! How about it? A Great Mage, now you can recruit for just food and expenses. There’s nothing cheaper than this, right!”

”But what use is a Great Mage who can only use Burst Magic once a day? Besides, if we go underground, you can’t use Burst Magic there either!”

”But no team is willing to take me on, even if it’s just to carry luggage, I’ll do anything!”

”Then why not learn other magic!”

”No way! My love for Burst Magic is unwavering!”

”Oh-ho...”

Upon hearing this, a vein throbbed on Fang Zheng’s forehead.

”You’re saying... your love for Burst Magic is unwavering, right?”

”That’s right!”

”Then, let me test that love of yours.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng came to Megumin and reached out, pressing her to the ground.

”Eh? Eh??”

”You’ve said it yourself, after using Burst Magic, you can’t even move, do you understand what that means? Kiddo? It means other people can do whatever they want to you. Even if I do this or that to you right here and now, you can’t resist! Is that okay?”

”Ugh... ugh...”

Watching Fang Zheng approaching, Megumin blushed red with embarrassment, while the cleric beside them was stupefied with shock.

”You’ve said that your love for Burst Magic is unwavering, right?”

Fang Zheng flexed his fingers.

”So, where should we start? Should I strip off your clothes first and meticulously examine every part of your body, or tie you up with a rope and indulge myself? Or perhaps after I’m bored, I’ll just throw you into the slum’s brothel, sell you to those vagrants? What do you think? This is the consequence of choosing Burst Magic, have you realized it now?”

”...Ugh, I understand.”

Confronted by Fang Zheng’s words, Megumin turned her head, blushing deeply.

”I see, as long as you understand.”

”Do as you please.”

”...Hmm?”

”You can take my body, but you can’t take away my love for Burst Magic! And as long as you’re willing to take responsibility for me, th-then... do whatever you want!

”......”

Can I just kill you, darn it!

Looking at the flushed yet stubborn and defiant Megumin, Fang Zheng wished he could just slice her with his sword. There should be limits to being a weirdo! He originally thought a little scare would get Megumin to behave. After all, there was indeed a real possibility of this happening, yet... this damned little oddball remains defiant?

Ah... my head hurts.

Fang Zheng only felt this was more troublesome than the Black Cat, as the Black Cat wasn’t this inexplicably stubborn. Although quirky, the Black Cat would still listen when needed.

”W-Will you really do that to her, Sir Knight...”

At this point, the cleric beside opened her mouth timidly to inquire, causing Fang Zheng to sigh helplessly.

”I was just trying to scare her a bit, fine... let’s take her back to the guild, then leave her there.”

”Eh? You won’t take her in the team?”

”No, what’s the use of a Great Mage who can only use Burst Magic once a day?”

”B-But...”

The cleric looked at Megumin worriedly while speaking.

”What you said before, will it come true?”

”For her, unless she fixes this habit, it’s inevitable. Maybe when she’s pregnant and sold to the slum’s brothel, she’ll wake up.”

”Ugh...!”

Hearing this, Megumin shivered involuntarily but bit back her words.

”Th-then let’s take her with us.”

”Are you sure?”

Fang Zheng asked as he looked at the cleric.

”Listen up, this girl has an incurable disease, it’s untreatable, only getting worse, dragging herself and others into trouble...”

”Incurable? Not even Divine Arts can cure it?”

”Can’t be cured.”

”Will she die?”

”It depends. Most recover naturally once they grow up...”

Some might never be cured in their lifetime.

”Th-then let’s take her with us!”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s response, the cleric seemed to have made up her mind.

”I’m a cleric of the Earth Mother Goddess, protecting and healing is my duty... I can’t just ignore someone in need!”

”...It’s your team, do what you want...”

At this point, Fang Zheng didn’t even have the energy to sigh.

And so, Great Mage (self-proclaimed) Megumin joined the cleric’s team, becoming the most indispensable (not really) spellcaster in the team...

In the following days, Fang Zheng spent his time like this every day.

Taking Megumin and the cleric out of the town, finding a deserted place, then having Megumin unleash a Burst Magic to pull creatures, followed by the cleric stepping forward to protect Megumin during battles... Since the cleric’s strength didn’t support using flails or meteor hammers, Fang Zheng selected a staff for her—a weapon about the length of a dagger with a blunt head, mainly for striking. Additionally, it could also serve as a Holy Emblem to use Divine Arts.

However...

”After all, we really need a dedicated melee professional in the squad.”

After another training ended, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but lament. Although he could join, the cleric’s team, with just her and the brainless Red Demon Clan girl, was simply insufficient to fight off too many creatures. If it were a game, the cleric could hold aggression, allowing Megumin to deal damage from behind.

But in reality, considering Burst Magic’s power, having the cleric hold aggression would likely wipe everyone out, including her.

Unless a Holy Shield was used.

But unfortunately, since Megumin joined their team, adventurers at the guild stayed clear of them. This brainless Red Demon Clan girl seemed to be a disaster star. At least everyone knew about her here, and nobody wanted to join such a seemingly hopeless team.

Yes, this is the decision made by any mentally sound adventurer.

”Let’s head back to the city for now.”

After confirming they couldn’t deceive new adventurers into joining in the town, Fang Zheng thought of another plan. Since Megumin had been blacklisted by the Adventurers’ Guild in this town, they would have to recruit in a place where no one knew her!

At least need to recruit a melee adventurer!
