Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1605: Chapter 1603: The First Job (Magellan from the Very First 10-Pull)

After the initial photo shoot, the girls finally began to relax a lot more, and having found the knack, they started to showcase their charm in front of the camera.

However, not everything was smooth sailing for everyone.

”What’s going on?”

Looking at Kisaragi Chihaya in front of him, Fang Zheng curiously asked. Faced with his question, Chihaya showed a troubled expression.

”The photographer said my smile looked stiff...”

”Hmm...”

Hearing Chihaya’s answer, Fang Zheng rubbed his chin and carefully scrutinized the girl in front of him. As a candidate idol, Kisaragi Chihaya was probably the most taciturn person in 765 Production. She rarely spoke, was quite reserved in figure, and... Fang Zheng indeed couldn’t recall ever seeing her smile.

”Show me a smile.”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Chihaya raised her head and then displayed a... indescribable... uh...

”In that case, then don’t smile.”

Fang Zheng quickly gave his response.

”But, is that okay?”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s response, Chihaya breathed a slight sigh of relief but soon worried again. After all, the other girls were all smiles in front of the camera, and she alone keeping a straight face probably didn’t feel right.

”This isn’t a group activity; this is a promotional shoot. What we need is to capture each of your characteristics. Just be as you usually are.”

Saying this, Fang Zheng patted Chihaya on the shoulder.

”Go ahead, do as I said.”

”Hmm... okay.”

Though her expression was a bit complex, Chihaya obediently nodded and returned to the photo shoot.

This time, the effect was quite good. The photographer thought Chihaya’s stiff face gave off a ”cool vibe” and snapped several photos in one go. Although Chihaya herself found it a bit hard to accept, for Fang Zheng, as long as everything went smoothly, it wasn’t a problem.

And indeed, it went very smoothly.

When the new promotional photos were delivered to the office, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

”Alright, this time we can finally go out and promote.”

Looking at the photos in his hand, Fang Zheng nodded with satisfaction. This time the photos no longer looked like something out of a punishment game, but just very normal photos. At least now, when Fang Zheng takes the photos out, he doesn’t need to rack his brains explaining to others why people in the photos look so weird.

And the new promotional material had an immediate effect.

Just three days later, Fang Zheng immediately received a job offer to perform a mini-live show at a rural festival.

”Ah, finally got work, it’s really thanks to you.”

President Takagi was also quite excited. After all, 765 Production needed to start operations, right? Without work, there would be no income, and even less to talk about regarding operations.

”Well, that’s because our price is the lowest...”

Fang Zheng unceremoniously made a snide remark, knowing what kind of event a rural festival was. Having spent time in the countryside before, he knew that during festivals, they usually hire some entertainment troupe to sing, dance, or perform skits to liven things up. Naturally, those are chosen by the village committee or similar groups willing to pay for something cheap.

It’s impossible to hire famous performers or troupes for such events. Even if they wanted to, they couldn’t afford it, could they? So, a reasonably priced small artist group is the best choice.

Of course, let’s not talk about those who hired pole dancers for funerals.

This was all thanks to the newly shot promotional material. At least, the other party could believe this was a regular talent agency and not some comedy company...

”Ahahaha...”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s snide remark, President Takagi gave a wry smile.

”But anyway, this is a new beginning, so please everyone...”

”Ahhh---!!!”

However, before President Takagi could finish his sentence, a scream that almost seemed to herald a murder in a detective animation came from outside the door. Hearing this scream, both Fang Zheng and Ritsuko were startled, and they hurriedly pushed open the office door, looking outside. They saw a small figure flash past like a gust of wind, dashing into the office.

”Xuebu! Are you alright?”

”Xuebu!!”

Kikuchi Makoto and Amakai Haruka rushed in behind, running to surround the collapsed Xuebu on the ground. They comforted her softly while whispering reassurances. Meanwhile, Xuebu sobbed uncontrollably, looking as if she had suffered a great grievance.

”What’s going on?”

Looking at this scene, Fang Zheng was completely puzzled.

Could it be someone lifted her skirt in public... it shouldn’t be, if so, they’d already be at the police station by now.

”Enough of this...”

Sora also walked in, complaining, drawing Fang Zheng’s attention to her.

”What’s going on?”

”Nothing major.”

Sora helplessly sighed in response to Fang Zheng’s question.

”Because the original dance teacher called in sick, and this time it’s a male substitute.”

”..............”

Upon hearing this, Fang Zheng instantly understood.

With Xuebu’s male phobia, she must have exploded the moment she saw a male teacher.

”Goodness!”

At this moment, Shana—no, Minase Iori also walked into the office with dissatisfaction.

”Because of Xuebu, today’s class was completely ruined!”

”Ugh...!”

Hearing Iori’s complaint, the already timid Xuebu teared up more, looking on the verge of crying. Seeing this, Kikuchi Makoto disapprovingly glared at Iori.

”Wait, Iori, that’s too harsh!”

”Is it wrong to speak the truth? Hmph!”

”You two, stop arguing...”

Watching the arguing Makoto and Iori, along with Haruka trying to mediate, and the tearful Xuebu and indifferent Sora, Fang Zheng felt a headache coming on. Although Iori spoke sharply, she wasn’t wrong. Xuebu’s male phobia was indeed a big problem.

In this condition, can she really perform on stage?

The upcoming mini-live is their first job, and there will be plenty of men in the audience. With Xuebu’s exaggerated male phobia, she might not even be able to stand on stage.

What to do then?

To be honest, Fang Zheng already has a bad feeling about this...
