Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1603: Chapter 1601: Ten People, Ten Colors

Accompanied by Haruka, Fang Zheng spent a day experiencing idol life at 765 Productions, gaining a comprehensive understanding of these girls.

However, the result was far different from what Fang Zheng had imagined.

First, the motives.

Each girl had a different reason for wanting to become an idol, but most of them seemed not to choose this path out of passion for the entertainment industry. Some hoped to prove their strength, some did it purely because it made them happy, and there were even those who wanted to find a marriage partner, believing that becoming an idol would help them find a suitable match—Junko Konno and Mizuno Ai were utterly speechless, not knowing how to respond.

Are you becoming an idol just to go on dates for marriage?

Is that even a thing?!

After this round, Fang Zheng managed alright, but Mizuno Ai and Junko Konno felt like their entire worldviews on life, values, and careers had crumbled.

”I have nothing to say.”

Mizuno Ai was the first to surrender, and Junko Konno was left speechless too, as Fang Zheng’s world’s entertainment circle seemed too ”ideal,” completely different from what they had experienced in their previous lives. This was indeed normal, as this world’s main direction is cultural entertainment, and it’s a World of Love, influenced by the mysterious ”Will of the Great Cosmos,” where love outweighs everything.

The concept of idols falling in love, which couldn’t even be imagined in other worlds, faced some resistance here, but if one could persist to the end, there’d definitely be no problem... Truth be told, both Junko and Ai found this incomprehensible.

This is akin to Cinderella in fairy tales always marrying the Prince and living a happily ever after—it’s exasperating.

But this is the world’s priority, like the Mecha in the Gundam universe. Normally, no one would be idle enough to build such useless things; at least with EVA, you could claim it’s because of cloned Lilith and Adam, thus maintaining a humanoid form. But why make pure mechanical weapons humanoid?

Like Britannia’s Sakuradite Mechas, they can’t even fly?

Haha, without air superiority, how do you wage war? In modern society, if Britannia plans to invade other countries with these things, they’d be bombed back to the Stone Age without knowing what hit them. Mechas without air support for ground troops aren’t even as good as heavy-duty wheels.

Still, that world’s Will of the Great Cosmos is like that; no matter how unreasonable it seems, it ends up being reasonable.

This world is the same.

In this situation, Fang Zheng’s original plan naturally became useless; these girls haven’t even considered what their future looks like, certainly can’t just be left to roam free.

Ultimately, he’d have to rely on himself to make things work.

President Takagi then introduced Fang Zheng and Sora Haruno to the other girls. The idols were quite surprised by the two joining, especially regarding Sora Haruno; given Sora’s decent appearance, they initially thought she was a new artist joining the agency, not expecting her to become staff instead.

As for Fang Zheng...the black-framed glasses somewhat shielded him from too much attention.

Such was what Fang Zheng had hoped for.

Upon officially joining the agency, Fang Zheng immediately started working.

The producer’s job, though seemingly simple, can be quite troublesome, mainly involving planning schedules for the artists, organizing tasks for them, and liaising with other companies for work, including auditions etc. However, since everyone at 765 Productions currently had no work, they were mostly undergoing singing and dancing, physical training daily, and participating in auditions for movies, dramas, or entertainment shows.

Yet...

”All failed again?”

Looking at Sora and Kotori before him, Fang Zheng was dumbfounded, while Kotori nodded helplessly.

”Yes...”

”Same here, almost all were unsuccessful.”

Sora, though calm, sounded somewhat surprised.

”It doesn’t make sense...”

Fang Zheng was quite baffled by these results. As a producer, he often accompanied the girls to various auditions, and according to him, despite not reaching Mizuno Ai and Junko Konno’s professional level, at least the girls had some competency, and their looks were quite outstanding, surely...a minor role should’ve been secure?

Not a single one?

Where’s the problem?

Of course, some don’t handle social interactions well, like Yukimi Hagiwara, who’s terrified of men and struggles to speak to Fang Zheng. However, such phobias were just a few cases; vibrant and cute ones like Amakai Haruka and Hoshii Miki, couldn’t capture the judges’ interest?

Speaking of...

”What did we use for promotion before?”

”Ah, this...”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s question, Kotori showed a slight expression of embarrassment, and then she took out a pile of photos from the drawer.

Seeing these, Fang Zheng and Sora were stunned.

”What’s this? A prank or something?”

Placed in front of them were photos of the girls from 765 Productions, but they were in bizarre poses, resembling losers in truth-or-dare games posing for memorable snapshots; the twins even dressed in monkey costumes!

”Did we use this stuff for promotion before?”

At this point, Fang Zheng was utterly gobsmacked.

What the heck is this? Didn’t you pay the photographer enough?!

For instance, Haruka’s picture captures her in a tripping pose on flat ground, Yukimi Hagiwara looks like she’s about to cry from fright, while the always mysterious and elegant Kiyone Shijou is doing an utterly meaningless ballet high kick. Yayoi Takatsuki’s photo is even more exaggerated, catching her with eyes half open!

If someone brought these to Fang Zheng, his first reaction would likely be, ”Are you freakin’ kidding me?”

With this stuff, you expect an audition? Just toss it in the trash!

”Because the president wanted them to show personality...”

Kotori also showed a helpless smile.

”And the president actually loves these pictures.”

”..........”

Does that old man truly care about running the agency well? Or is he just toying around?

”This can’t work.”

Fang Zheng shook his head.

”No one would look at these photos; we need to reshoot promotional pictures.”

”But...we don’t have much money left...”

”.......I’ll talk to the president.”

Fang Zheng was at a loss; the situation at 765 Productions is vastly different from previous agencies. If this continues, the agency might completely collapse before he finishes the mission!

If worse comes to worst, he’ll have to draw funds from the FBI.
