Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1609: Chapter 1607: An Unexpected Rival

In any case, this is a good start, and it indeed gives 765 Agency a brand-new beginning.

In the following days, the girls gradually began to get busier. Although they weren’t superstars yet, basically everyone managed to land a job or two.

Of course, most of these jobs were some minor roles in movies or TV dramas or some fashion modeling gigs. The workload wasn’t big, but compared to before when their schedules were completely empty, it was a significant improvement. A few girls were even arranged by Fang Zheng to appear on TV shows as guests — although it was a variety show with ratings so low it’s pitiful, it still counted as being on TV!

After this, 765 also formed two groups.

Akizuki Ritsuko formed a group with Miura Azusa, Minase Iori, and Futami Ami called ”Komachi Ryuuguu.”

Fang Zheng wasn’t far behind; after pulling Sora in for consideration over a few days, he found Amakai Haruka, Kisaragi Chihaya, and Hoshii Miki, establishing an idol group named ”STARS.”

Fang Zheng also thought this through carefully; Haruka was good at alchemizing the atmosphere in the team, Miki had strong stage presence, and Chihaya’s singing ability was superb. Putting these three together was also a good choice.

Thanks to Fang Zheng’s efforts, STARS’ first song successfully broke into the radio song charts!

Today is the day the weekly song chart rankings are released.

”It’s starting, it’s starting, guys, Sister Sora, come quickly!”

Sitting on the sofa, the twins excitedly waved their hands, as the other girls gathered around, watching the large TV in the office. Not just them, but even President Takagi squeezed over, standing behind with his hands behind his back — coincidently, the shadow from the lamp perfectly obscured the upper half of his face.

Well, it’s really not that important.

Soon, a pretentious voice came from the TV, followed by an oddly dressed host appearing on screen.

”Hi everyone, it’s time for our weekly MUSIC TIME!”

The host dressed like an alien shook and twisted with the microphone in hand.

”How’s everyone doing? Recently, I...”

”Who wants to hear how you’re doing, just announce the rankings!”

Looking at the host’s unnecessary talk, the twins immediately retorted. The others nodded in agreement; Haruka tightly clasped her hands, staring at the screen and murmuring to herself. Beside her, Chihaya, although silent, had a very serious expression; in fact, not only them, but Iori and the others were equally nervous.

After all, this is the debut week for both STARS and Komachi Ryuuguu, what the result will be... no one knows!

Finally, amidst eager anticipation, the host announced the rankings.

”25th place — Komachi Ryuuguu’s ’Colorful Buttons’!”

”YEAH!!!”

Upon hearing this, Iori, Azusa, and Ami immediately jumped up and hugged each other. The others also excitedly applauded them. And soon after, the host announced once again.

”20th place — STARS, ’GO MY WAY’!”

”That’s awesome!!”

Even though it was just 20th place, barely above average, Haruka and Chihaya were still excitedly holding each other’s hands tightly. You should know, to promote this song, they hardly stopped this past week, going to various concerts early every morning, even having to travel out of town by car many times.

In Fang Zheng’s car.

Recalling the memories of hovering between life and death in the past week, the two almost embraced and cried with joy.

”That’s great!”

At this moment, Miki suddenly screamed and jumped to hug Fang Zheng.

”Producer, Miki worked really hard, Miki did great, right?”

”Yes, you’re right, you worked hard, but this is just the beginning; our target isn’t just limited to the 20th place!”

”Yes! Miki will work even harder!!”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s response, Miki nodded even more excitedly. Seeing this, Sora blinked as if realizing something, with a slight lift of her mouth.

However, at this moment, the host’s voice came once again.

”Next up, newcomer for the first time hitting the top of the charts, from Ogata Office’s new star — Komizo Yukina sings her new song ’Love That Cannot Be Conveyed’!”

.........Hmm?!!

Hearing this name, Fang Zheng and Sora were both taken aback and hurriedly lifted their heads to look at the TV, only to see on the TV screen, Komizo Yukina dressed in a pure white performance outfit, holding the microphone and confidently stepping onto the stage in front of the camera. As she appeared, applause erupted from the audience. Soon, the lights dimmed, and along with the music, Yukina’s voice emerged.

”Could it be you’re pretending to be lonely? Why does my heart tremble for you, as I came to realize, unknowingly, I’ve been deeply attracted to you. How can I project my heart onto the mirror for you to see clearly... ”

I have to admit, Komizo Yukina indeed had the idol vibe and her singing was quite good. However, for Fang Zheng and Sora, it was a different story.

Soon, Sora gave Fang Zheng a questioning look.

Bro, what’s going on?

How would I know?

Facing Sora’s inquiry, Fang Zheng shrugged his shoulders. Ever since that day when he laid things on the table with Yukina and the others, they hadn’t come to him again. Of course, Fang Zheng didn’t force them.

But... what does this mean?

”What’s wrong, Producer?”

To the other girls, they didn’t find this shocking. Naturally, a new idol’s debut song topping the weekend chart made them quite envious. However, regarding Komizo Yukina, they didn’t have any special feelings.

After all, both parties were strangers.

”It’s nothing.”

Hearing Miki’s curious inquiry, Fang Zheng casually replied.

”I just think she will be a strong rival for us... Speaking of which, Miki, you should come down now.”

At this moment, Miki was still holding Fang Zheng’s neck with both hands, pressed tightly against him; Fang Zheng could feel something far beyond what a fifteen-year-old girl should have... Indeed, eating and sleeping well can make one grow.

”Hehehe.”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s words, Miki giggled and stuck out her tongue, then let go of him, before jumping and running back into the crowd to celebrate with the others. Taking advantage of everyone’s attention focused on the program, Fang Zheng gestured to Sora, and the two quietly withdrew.

”Bro, what’s going on? You really don’t know anything?”

After stepping out of the office, Sora eagerly asked, while Fang Zheng shrugged his hands.

”I don’t know.”

”Did Yukina not tell you anything?”

”No, did you talk to her?”

”Of course.”

This was exactly the point that left Sora puzzled and confused.

”Actually, one time when you were busy outside, Yukina came to our house looking for you, saying that an agency had invited her to become an idol, wanting to ask your opinion. At that time, I thought you weren’t at 765, so I went ahead and told her... ”

Sora frowned, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t figure out what was going on. All she knew was that when she talked to Yukina, she thought it was a great opportunity; Fang Zheng becoming a producer coincided with Yukina wanting to be an idol. If Yukina could go under Fang Zheng, wouldn’t it be a chance for them to develop feelings?

But unexpectedly, Yukina didn’t reach out to Fang Zheng; instead, she turned to another agency! What kind of mysterious operation was this?!

What was she thinking?
