Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1602: Chapter 1600: Watching from the Shadows (Eat Some Green Vegetables)

Early the next morning, Fang Zheng was ready for work.

”Hmm... how do I look?”

He wore a black suit, adjusted his tie, then turned to look at the girls beside him. Little Hei cheerfully gave a thumbs up.

”Very handsome, big brother!”

”Looking good, MASTER...”

Illya also blushed slightly as she responded.

”Honestly, it feels quite refreshing...”

Looking at the suit he was wearing, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but sigh. It had been a long time since he’d done something like this — something akin to being a fresh face in society. Looking at himself in the mirror, he couldn’t help but recall his first time job hunting... Ah, the past truly is hard to look back on.

”Speaking of which, Neflen and Katori’s sailor suits are nice too. Honestly, seeing you dressed like this is quite fresh.”

Thinking of this, Fang Zheng glanced toward the other two girls getting ready for school. Seeing them dressed in the uniforms of Sakanoue Academy, he couldn’t help but sigh. Katori wore her uniform with white stockings, while Neflen wore black stockings, exuding a captivating charm.

However, to Fang Zheng, this somewhat felt out of place. He was used to seeing them as Golden Fairies clad in armored gear, wielding greatswords, and battling beasts, not dressed in school uniforms carrying school bags... Although age-wise, this is indeed what they should be doing.

”Is it that strange?”

In contrast to Fang Zheng’s sentiment, Katori seemed unable to understand, considering the outfit to be just another uniform like her battle attire or everyday wear or military uniform.

”No, it’s very cute. After all, for men, uniforms are a good thing...”

As he said this, Fang Zheng thought about Akemi Homura.

Ah... pushing down a girl in a sailor suit and tearing black stockings really has a unique flavor...

”Cough cough.”

Thinking of this, Fang Zheng felt his little guy seemed a bit restless. Thus, he coughed and refocused, taking out a pair of black-rimmed glasses to wear.

”Hmm... now how do I look?”

”Feels kinda strange.”

Watching this scene, Sora frowned, and the others nodded as well, as it was their first time seeing Fang Zheng wearing glasses, which felt somewhat unfamiliar.

”MASTER, why wear glasses?”

”To avoid certain troubles.”

Fang Zheng adjusted his glasses, explaining. These weren’t ordinary black-rimmed glasses but ones that could make people -1S... cough cough, no, it’s to make people ignore the glasses. Simply put, Fang Zheng attached Type Moon World’s Magecraft of dispersion to these glasses, making him less noticeable.

This was necessary, for without glasses, Fang Zheng’s charm was quite strong, even if he tried to hide. Someone as striking as him, no matter where he stood, was like a firefly in pitch blackness, utterly distinct and exceptional.

The melancholic gaze, the upright posture, the handsome face, the dashing appearance, enough to deeply captivate any woman. Moreover, if it were Fang Zheng, he wouldn’t even need to pay overnight fees, would he?

But of course, that would easily cause trouble, as a young and handsome producer coupled with an artist easily becomes tabloid fodder. Wearing glasses allows Fang Zheng to suppress his charm successfully, preventing undue attention.

Simply put, it’s somewhat akin to those nondescript characters in many comics who, when wearing glasses, are just known but not noticed, and once they take off the glasses, become the most handsome guy or most beautiful girl in the school, with explosive presence...

Fang Zheng’s glasses served a similar purpose.

”Well then, I’m heading out. Take a rest today.”

Fang Zheng said to Sora, who nodded in agreement, although it’s work-related, the start wouldn’t be immediate. In fact, after confirming things with Junko Konno and Mizuno Ai yesterday, Fang Zheng called President Takagi, expressing his desire to understand the girls before making a decision.

President Takagi happily agreed, so today Fang Zheng would go to 765 as a reporter to conduct on-site investigation and interviews with the girls — of course, President Takagi would also inform the girls in advance.

Otherwise, it would turn into a stalking peeping tom, wouldn’t it?

After confirming everything was ready, Fang Zheng went straight out the door.

When Touma returned to this world, it was before New Year’s, and after some days, it was now early spring, the winter chill had faded, and spring was quietly arriving. However, the early morning was still a bit chilly.

Standing at the station’s entrance, Fang Zheng glanced at his watch. If he remembered correctly, according to President Takagi, someone would meet him...

”Ah!”

At that moment, a sudden scream rang out, and Fang Zheng saw a girl with short deep brown hair with two butterfly hair ties, wearing a uniform and carrying a school bag, rushing over. Spotting Fang Zheng, she showed a joyful smile.

”Good morning... Ah!”

Yet, before she could finish the sentence, the girl fell onto the ground, and even Fang Zheng stood in disbelief.

The ground’s so flat, how did you trip?

”Ouch... that hurts...”

The girl rubbed her behind, mumbling softly, while Fang Zheng quickly stepped forward.

”Are you alright?”

”So sorry...”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s concern, the girl quickly stood up, apologetically smiling as she spoke.

”I was in too much of a hurry. May I ask if you are Mr. Fang Zheng?”

”That’s correct, I am. Hello.”

Looking at the girl before him, Fang Zheng nodded, and the girl once again displayed a beaming smile, respectfully bowing.

”Hello, President Takagi has already informed us of this matter. I am Amakai Haruka from 765 Office, pleased to meet you!”

”The pleasure is mine to meet you.”

Seeing the vibrant girl before him, Fang Zheng nodded subtly; from the first impression, she was lively, outgoing, and full of energy and sunshine, resembling the main character of an idol anime...

”Well then, let’s get on the train.”

”Yes!”

According to Amakai Haruka, she needed to spend two hours daily traveling by train to the office, and indeed, as they left the station, the sky was already bright.

”Going back and forth like this every day, isn’t it tiring?”

”Yes, but listening to music, looking over materials on the train, time flies by, so I don’t mind at all.”

Walking beside Fang Zheng, Amakai Haruka seemed completely unconcerned.

”I see.”

Upon hearing Amakai Haruka’s answer, Fang Zheng nodded and then switched perspectives, quietly inquiring.

”What do you think?”

Indeed, although the surface appearance was Fang Zheng alone, in fact, Junko Konno and Mizuno Ai were linked through their terminals, reviewing the girls with Fang Zheng and providing their suggestions.

”Good mindset, but that doesn’t say much.”

Mizuno Ai first gave her opinion, and Junko Konno also agreed.

”Right, I’ve noticed she tries hard, but... the actual effect remains questionable.”

”Well then, let’s continue.”

Receiving their responses, Fang Zheng quietly replied and then lifted his gaze, focusing once more on the back of the girl ahead.

This is just the beginning.
