Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1619: Chapter 1617: Setsuna’s Life Consultation (Kannoyuki Rained All Night, It Seems to Have Stopped)

The 765 Night concert was a huge success.

After Meixi set a great precedent, the following concerts went smoothly, and Komachi Ryuuguu finally managed to arrive just in time for the perfect ending.

After that, work invitations from all sides also increased more and more.

This time, not only for STARS and Komachi Ryuuguu, but other people’s workloads also began to increase, and everyone was quite happy about it. After all, visible growth is the best; compared to previous work, they have made significant progress now. Meixi has already received several modeling invitations and even shot two commercials, which in itself is a testament to her popularity.

The same goes for others, with countless invitations from movies, TV, and radio programs, Fang Zheng and Ritsuko were busy without a moment to spare. Of course, the large joint programs of 765 couldn’t be left out.

For Fang Zheng, this was naturally a good thing.

And on the weekly pop music charts, STARS’ ranking was getting higher and higher, currently entering the top ten, even the top five. Next, if Fang Zheng put in a bit more effort to get into the top three or even win the weekly championship, STARS would secure a ticket to the Platinum Idol Grand Prize.

And besides...

”HONEY!”

With the shout, Meixi charged excitedly, jumping into Fang Zheng’s arms.

”You’re here.”

”Yep, I’m here.”

Fang Zheng patted Meixi’s head, then distanced himself from her again.

Since the concert, it was unclear what flipped inside Meixi’s head. She stopped calling Fang Zheng ”Producer” and started calling him ”HONEY,” much to everyone’s surprise. Haruka and Chihaya had headaches, as Meixi used to be informal with Fang Zheng, but now this was an open show of affection.

In private, it was fine, but in public, it could lead to troublesome rumors.

So Ritsuko grabbed Meixi and lectured her thoroughly, which made her restrain herself a lot. She only called him that in private, while in public, she still referred to him as Producer.

Of course, with Meixi’s personality, she’d surely forget it in no time.

”How did it go?”

”Great, huh? Even the teacher said Meixi did exceptionally well today!”

”That’s good, keep filming, try to finish it today!”

”No problem!”

Saying this, Meixi proudly patted her chest, then hopped and skipped back to the set to resume filming. This time, she had the fourth female role in a movie, which was a step up from just being a higher-level NPC, although it was unclear when she could land a leading role......

Watching Meixi performing on set, Fang Zheng nodded in approval, and at that moment, a voice sounded from behind him.

”Haruno.”

”Hmm?”

Upon hearing this address, Fang Zheng didn’t react immediately. He turned his head—no one was there, then looked down and soon spotted Setsuna.

”Hey, Setsuna? Long time no see, looking for me? Why not call?”

”I was just passing by and happened to run into you.”

Setsuna, wearing casual clothes, pointed to the shopping street ahead. Clearly, she was out shopping when she happened to see Meixi and Fang Zheng filming a movie here.

”You with these glasses, I almost didn’t recognize you.”

”You haven’t changed much.”

”It’s only been less than a year......”

Saying this, Setsuna paused.

”Do you have time? There’s something I want to talk to you about.”

”Of course.”

Fang Zheng looked at his watch.

”I have half an hour free.”

While saying this, Fang Zheng gestured to Meixi, and Meixi, who was filming, blinked to show she understood. Then Fang Zheng turned and left with Setsuna, entering a nearby coffee shop.

”What’s your relationship with that girl?”

After ordering two coffees, Setsuna fixed her gaze on Fang Zheng and asked.

”Meixi? She’s one of my artists.”

Fang Zheng took a sip of coffee and answered. Setsuna remained silent for a moment in response to Fang Zheng’s answer.

”I think she really likes you.”

”I like her too, after all, she’s cute and lively, although with a slight personality issue.”

Under Fang Zheng’s guidance, Meixi had evolved from speaking without thinking to saying whatever came to her mind... well, there was actually no change.

After all, personality issues can’t be changed unless through brainwashing.

”.........”

Listening to Fang Zheng’s answer, Setsuna stared at him silently for a while, then sighed.

”Are you always like this?”

”I’ve always been this way.”

Fang Zheng knew what Setsuna was implying, so he gave her an answer. To be honest, talking with Setsuna made Fang Zheng feel relatively relaxed because Setsuna was smart and quite rational. This was entirely different from the world of Touma and Yukina. Some things Fang Zheng could make sense of with Setsuna, but not with the other three.

”I heard from Touma that you have multiple girlfriends in the Heavenly Dao Palace, is this how you treat them too?”

”Pretty much, yeah.”

”.........”

This time, Setsuna frowned, playing with her coffee cup. After a long pause, she finally spoke.

”I don’t think this is love.”

”But I think this is love.”

Fang Zheng shook his head.

”Love itself is a very vague concept, this isn’t a science, the result proves everything.

At this point, Fang Zheng spread his hands.

”Everyone defines love and happiness differently, and so do I. Of course, I admit this might not align with modern common perceptions of love, but that’s my thinking.”

”So you rejected them.”

As a close friend, Setsuna was naturally well aware of the feelings World, Touma, and Yukina had for Fang Zheng.

”I didn’t reject them; they made their own choices.”

Fang Zheng crossed his hands, placing them in front of him.

”Everyone has to make their choices; they made theirs, so they must bear the consequences.”

”...... About Yukina, you know, right? Actually, she just......”

Setsuna quietly recounted Yukina’s situation to Fang Zheng, who simply nodded after hearing it.

”I understand.”

”Aren’t you mad?”

”There’s nothing to be angry about.”

What Fang Zheng said was genuinely heartfelt. Back in school, he read several novels filled with fabricated rumors, and compared to the reckless actions of the female protagonists in those, Yukina was just acting impulsively. Besides, she’s doing quite well now as a rising pop idol, isn’t it a good thing?

It’s far better than those female protagonists in rumor-mongering novels, who not only messed themselves up but also dragged others down, then cried on the shore saying ”I didn’t mean it.”

”I see......”

Upon hearing this, Setsuna silently nodded.

Then she stood up.

”Come with me.”
