Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1641: Chapter 1639: What Kind of People Are These?!

Looking at the girl in front of him, exuding the same chuunibyou aura as the black cat, Fang Zheng felt utterly hopeless. At this moment, the Priestess of the Goddess was staring in surprise at the girl’s eyes.

”Red eyes... could you be from the Red Demon Clan?”

”That’s right!”

Upon hearing the Priestess’s question, the girl once again struck a pose she thought was cool.

”I am one of the top Great Mages of the Red Demon Clan! My ultimate magic can crumble mountains and split the earth, shatter rocks...”

However, before she finished her words, Fang Zheng and the Priestess saw the girl sway slightly and then collapse to the ground with a ”thud”.

”Are you alright?”

Seeing the girl suddenly fall, the Priestess hurried to her side and asked with concern.

”Are you hurt anywhere? Do you need healing?”

”Ugh...”

Hearing the Priestess’s inquiry, Megumin barely lifted her head.

”I haven’t eaten in three days. Can you give me something to eat?”

”.......”

What could Fang Zheng say to that? He couldn’t just watch her starve to death.

Still, watching the girl feasting at the table, Fang Zheng couldn’t help but tease.

”This is my first time seeing a Great Mage almost starved to death.”

”Um... Sir Knight.”

At this point, the Priestess also raised her hand and spoke.

”I’ve heard legends about the Red Demon Clan. It’s said that people of the Red Demon Clan are born with high intelligence and strong magic, most are experts in magic, and their names are all peculiar...”

”If that’s really the case, it should be easy for her to find a team, and she wouldn’t go three days without a meal.”

Although Fang Zheng’s point of view was somewhat unusual, it hit the nail on the head.

”If she truly is a Great Mage, then the gold, silver, and bronze teams wouldn’t pass her up. Why would she come looking for you, a white porcelain, let alone being led by a cleric?”

”That... makes sense...”

Hearing their conversation, Megumin, who was gobbling down food, trembled slightly but quickly reverted to normal. Although the Priestess seemed oblivious to this, Fang Zheng noticed it. Clearly, this girl had issues. Just in terms of magic power, calling herself a Great Mage wasn’t out of the question. Also, even if her behavior was a bit unusual, considering those adventure teams, there are even stranger and worse people they put up with. They should be able to accommodate her.

Yet she hadn’t eaten for three days, and it seemed no one in the guild sought her for a team...

”Alright, after you’ve finished eating, let’s head out.”

Watching Megumin finish her meal, Fang Zheng stood up.

”Huh? Sir Knight, what for?”

”Training, and in the meantime, let’s see what this so-called Great Mage named Megumin is capable of.”

After this, Fang Zheng led the two out of the town to a nearby forest. Before long, they found an open space with a Slime leisurely sunbathing there.

”Alright, let me teach you how to fight, take this.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng took a weapon and shield from his inventory and handed them to the Priestess. She was slightly taken aback when she received them.

”Is this... a hammer?”

”That’s right, using a sword can be dangerous for beginners; it’s easy to hurt themselves or others. But with a hammer, the balance is easier to manage.”

”But...”

Holding the small hammer in her hand, the Priestess seemed a little doubtful.

”Can something like this really hurt anyone?”

”Of course, don’t underestimate blunt weapons. Sometimes they can be more terrifying than blades. In battle, they’re enough to harm most creatures. Alright, give it a try, and I’ll adjust as needed.”

”Yes!”

Following this, the Priestess gripped the hammer and cautiously approached. When the Slime saw her, it turned around and charged towards her.

”Eek!!”

Facing the Slime, the Priestess became nervous and shaky, unsure of what to do. At that moment, Fang Zheng’s voice rang in her ears again.

”Hold the shield in front of your chest, keep some distance between your body and it, that’s it. Keep it up, don’t block your vision, observe the Slime’s movements carefully!”

As Fang Zheng spoke, the Slime suddenly leapt at her, bouncing towards her like a rolling ball. The Priestess screamed and instinctively closed her eyes, feeling the shield in her hand hit hard.

”Alright, seize the opportunity, hit it with the hammer!”

”Huh?”

When the Priestess opened her eyes again, she found she had blocked the Slime, which fell to the ground. She quickly rushed forward and struck the Slime with her hammer.

”Hey! Hey! Hey!”

The hammer struck the Slime with a ”bang bang” sound, and it cried out in pain, retreating and curling up to charge at the Priestess again.

”Raise the shield!”

Listening to Fang Zheng’s command, the Priestess of the Goddess hurriedly raised her shield to her chest, once again fending off the slime’s attack.

”Keep attacking!”

So, under Fang Zheng’s instructions, after two or three rounds, the Priestess of the Goddess finally managed to kill the slime. When the slime burst with a ”pop” sound under her hammer and died completely, the Priestess of the Goddess let out a long sigh of relief. She gripped the hammer tightly in her hand, not knowing why; just as she killed the slime, she suddenly felt her mood greatly improved, as if the shadow lingering in her heart since the last failed adventure had dispersed quite a bit.

”Well done, this is the most basic of battles. Get used to this rhythm, and take it slow.”

Fang Zheng patted the Priestess of the Goddess on the shoulder, then looked at Megumin.

”Alright, the next slime is over there.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng pointed at the slime on the empty ground far on the other side.

”It’s your turn, Megumin, show me the power of being a Great Mage. Such a mere slime shouldn’t be a problem for you.”

”Hohoho... Of course, let me show you all the prowess of me, the genius Great Mage of the Red Demon Clan... Megumin’s might!”

As she spoke, Megumin lifted her magic wand, and at the same time, the wind began to roar.

”More black than black, darker than darkness, pitch black, here lies my crimson golden light. At the time of awakening, the fallen truth of the Absurd Church, manifest as an invisible distortion!”

As Megumin chanted, vast magic power began to condense at the tip of her magic wand, and seeing this, Fang Zheng’s eyes widened.

I’m just asking you to kill a slime, that’s all?

What is this? Are you trying to destroy the world?

”Dance, dance, dance. The honkai of the source of my power, unparalleled honkai, burns all things, descend from the Abyss!”

The magic power had now condensed into a pitch-black giant shadow of darkness, completely enveloping the slime, while the Priestess of the Goddess was already shivering in fear, hiding behind Fang Zheng.

”This is humanity’s strongest attacking method! This is the ultimate attack magic!”

With these words, Megumin suddenly raised her magic wand, pointing at the slime before her.

”Explosion!”

Magic power began to condense, burst, transforming into a rotating array of three rings, descending from the sky. Then the next moment, an unbearably dazzling firelight erupted, enveloping the forest, the grassland, and everything before their eyes.

When Fang Zheng opened his eyes again, he saw that the hundred-meter grassland where the slime had just been had completely turned into scorched earth, and the blazing heat surged forward, almost making it hard to breathe.

Although it’s a mess, one has to admit, the power of this spell indeed matches the Nine-Ring Spell Meteor Storm’s power of the Main World...

”Thud.”

Just as Fang Zheng was absorbed in thought, suddenly Megumin, beside him, inexplicably collapsed onto the ground.

”Ms. Megumin, what’s wrong?”

Seeing this, the Priestess of the Goddess was so frightened that she rushed to Megumin’s side, asking worriedly, while Megumin struggled to lift her head.

”The explosion magic of my secret art, due to its immense power, consumes vast magic power.”

”...So what?”

Though Fang Zheng had guessed it, for good measure, he still asked.

”Simply put, using magic beyond my limits makes me unable to move now.”

”This is self-inflicted!”

Fang Zheng wanted to punch her directly.

”I just wanted you to show your strength. We’re facing slimes, not the Demon King! Couldn’t you use something like the Fireball Technique? Why resort to a magic that looks like it’s going to end the world?”

”Can’t use it.”

”...Huh?”

Faced with Megumin’s answer, Fang Zheng was stunned for ten seconds before snapping out of it.

”What did you say?”

”I can only use explosion magic; I can’t use any other magic.”

”...”

Upon hearing this, Fang Zheng and the Priestess of the Goddess were shocked.

”It shouldn’t be. How can you use such high-grade explosion magic but not any other magic?”

Fang Zheng couldn’t comprehend it; he had never met a Mage who could only use legendary magic but not the Fireball Technique!

”I just love explosion magic! Indeed, if I learn other magic, adventuring would become easier, but that’s no good!”

While speaking, Megumin squeezed her small fist.

”I can only love explosion magic! Even if I can only unleash it once a day, even if I collapse after using it, I only love explosion magic! Because I became a Great Mage for the sole purpose of using explosion magic!”

What kind of people are these!

At this point, Fang Zheng finally understood why no team wanted her.

A hero with no QWE but doesn’t know how to use R for normal attacks, who wants that!
