Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 1638: Chapter 1636: Found a Clue (Too Lazy to Get Out of Bed, Sleeping in My Nest)

”Ah... ah...”

At this moment, the battle is nearing its end.

The battlefield before them is a scene of chaos, with the young swordsman lying lifelessly on the ground, completely dead. On the other side, the female martial artist screams as she resists the creatures’ final assault. Not far away, the priestess of the Goddess tightly guards the female magician, whose condition is unknown, unsure of what to do.

The creatures have encircled them completely, leaving only a dead end... They emit ugly laughter, closing in on their prey.

”No, don’t come any closer...”

Gripping the silver staff tightly in her hands, the priestess of the Goddess quietly prays to her deity... Yet, there’s no response.

Just at this moment, a bright red firelight suddenly shot across her vision.

It was like a meteor cutting through the darkness.

The crimson trail whistled through the dark, leaving dazzling spots on the retina, for a moment, the entire cave seemed flooded with sunlight, the hot air rushing in, making the priestess hold her breath.

”Boom!!”

The next moment, the firelight heavily struck the nearby wall, causing the entire underground passage to tremble, debris scattering and rolling down, making one almost feel like an earthquake occurred, threatening to cause a complete collapse. However, at present, no one had the time to care about such minor matters, because the dazzling black-purple lightning erupted almost simultaneously with the firelight’s impact on the wall, filling the entire space, mercilessly enveloping those weak, evil creatures, and in the blink of an eye, they turned into pitch-black charcoal.

”...”

The priestess sat dazed on the ground, staring at the charred monster bodies before her, momentarily at a loss for words. She hadn’t yet figured out what happened, just staring blankly at it all. Until, a moment later, the pile of bodies on the other side suddenly shifted, and the ragged female martial artist crawled out from it. Although her face was still pale, her body scarred, at least she was alive.

”Hey, are you guys okay?”

The female martial artist stumbled toward the priestess and the female magician, and hearing her call, the priestess slowly stood up.

”I’m okay, but she... my healing doesn’t work.”

Looking at the female magician beside her, whose breathing was becoming weaker, the priestess was at a loss, and at that moment...

”Clack, clack, clack.”

Heavy footsteps echoed from the passage behind them, making the priestess tense up instantly, and the female martial artist ignoring her own injuries, immediately positioned herself in front of them. Then, they saw a tall man clad in pitch-black armor, resembling a knight, emerge.

”Yo, still alive, not bad, luck’s on your side.”

Looking at the three in front of him, Fang Zheng waved his hand, then he reached out, seemingly sensing his summon, and with a rustling sound from the rubble nearby, a pitch-black greatsword suddenly flew out, landing steadily in Fang Zheng’s hand—only then did they finally realize the true nature of the firelight they had seen earlier.

”Excuse me, did you save us, Sir Knight?”

The priestess asked softly, and Fang Zheng shrugged.

”More or less, I just randomly came in to have a look, and then heard screams from inside... well, luck too.”

”Ugh...”

Just at this moment, the female magician groaned, convulsing in pain. Seeing this scene, the priestess also became anxious and uneasy.

”Are you okay?”

”Hmm...”

Fang Zheng came closer to take a look.

”She seems to be poisoned...”

Saying this, Fang Zheng snapped his fingers, and the next moment, Holy Light descended, enveloping all three of them, quickly, as the warm light surrounded them, the priestess, female martial artist, and female magician’s wounds visibly healed quickly, soon returning them to their normal state.

”What an amazing Divine Arts!”

Watching this, the priestess’ eyes widened in astonishment, staring at Fang Zheng, left speechless.

Could it be, this master is a Paladin?

Indeed, she guessed correctly.

”As for that one over there, looks beyond saving.”

Fang Zheng glanced at the swordsman’s corpse not far away, and hearing this, the female martial artist expressed sadness, the priestess also remained silent.

”By the way, is it just you few here?”

”Yes...”

The female martial artist hung her head, her response discouraged.

”This was our first mission...”

”Quite common, newbies without a veteran to lead are often wiped out in instances.”

Fang Zheng noted such situations were nothing new, whether in games or the Main World, he’d witnessed them often.

”So what were you here to eliminate?”

”Um... Goblins...”

”These things again, why can’t they just die off entirely, like cockroaches...”

Hearing this answer, Fang Zheng rolled his eyes, recalling encountering a horde of goblins in the Main World’s forest, and now, in this world too... clearly, goblins are always trouble.

From now on, in any world, kill goblins at first sight.

”Alright, let’s leave here first, as for these goblins...”

Saying this, Fang Zheng raised his greatsword, swinging it ahead.

Then, with a ”whoosh,” a fire dragon roared deep into the passage, moments later, a muffled explosion and dragon-like roars erupted.

”Done, let’s go.”

”Ah... yes...”

Seeing Fang Zheng turning to leave, the female martial artist and priestess supported the female magician and followed closely behind, by now they had lost any initial excitement from the adventure, leaving behind deep fear, unease, and regret.

After leaving the cave, led by the priestess and female martial artist, Fang Zheng arrived at a nearby town... It’s close, but not exactly near the city he’d been in before.

Upon reaching the town, the female martial artist took the female magician to rest while the priestess went to report to the Guild, curious, Fang Zheng followed too.

Though from these three, he didn’t sense anything akin to the mutual pull of Order Coordinates as with Katori, since the Prophecy Spell indicated them, it suggested there might be a clue among them. Compared to the other two, since the priestess served the deity, following her might uncover something?

But for the priestess, this was somewhat nerve-wracking.

”Um, excuse me... Sir Knight... are you an adventurer? What rank adventurer are you?”

”Hmm? Adventurer? Are there ranks?”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng was slightly surprised. Could it be that this world, like Shield Hero, comes with its own system?

”Ah, no... Look at this...”

Saying this, the Priestess of the Goddess took out something that looked like a soldier’s name tag from around her neck.

”Adventurers register at the Guild, and then... um... Sorry, I’m just the lowest White Porcelain Rank...”

”Oh... is that so.”

”Sir Knight isn’t an adventurer, right?”

”Not yet, but hearing you say this, being an adventurer seems quite interesting.”

According to the Priestess of the Goddess, adventurers in this world seem to need special registration... Unlike the Main World, where anyone who goes out to adventure is considered an adventurer; even farmers can wield a sword and slay creatures. There are different guilds for mercenaries, thieves, warriors, mages, etc., which you can join or not. Some people like to find organizations, while others prefer solo.

It doesn’t seem to be set up like that here.

After entering the Adventurers’ Guild, the Priestess of the Goddess went to report, while Fang Zheng sat bored in the hall, observing. He was wearing the Farron Undead Legion’s armor, not the typical nobility attire, so he did not stand out.

Fang Zheng’s gaze swept across the Adventurers’ Guild. As his eyes stopped on one particular commission, he shivered all over.

An ill omen suddenly surfaced from within him, as if he encountered something unpleasant.

That’s the one!

At that moment, Fang Zheng was sure this was what the Prophecy Spell guided him here for!

It’s that commission! That commission should be the clue he was searching for in this world!

Fang Zheng stood up, walked to the notice board, and carefully observed. The commission was to eliminate a group of bandits hiding in the deep mountains, said to be protected by powerful creatures, hence requiring strong adventurers.

Seems like a simple task, but... must one be an adventurer to take it?

Thinking this, Fang Zheng took the commission and went to the counter, just as the Priestess of the Goddess had finished exchanging with the receptionist there. Upon seeing Fang Zheng, the Priestess of the Goddess smiled.

”Ah, Sir Knight, we were just talking about you...”

”Yes, hello, Sir Knight.”

At this moment, the receptionist inside the counter also gave Fang Zheng a courteous bow. She looked older than the Priestess of the Goddess, dressed neatly in uniform, with coffee-colored hair braided and draping by her side, looking friendly and gentle.

”At first, when I heard they were going to exterminate goblins, I was really worried. It was really great that you could save them.”

”You’re welcome, I just did it casually, but I have a question.”

Speaking, Fang Zheng placed the commission in front of the counter.

”I want to take this commission, do I have to be an adventurer?”

”This is... let me see.”

The receptionist picked up the commission and examined it carefully.

”Of course, you must be an adventurer to accept commissions... You are not an adventurer?”

”Not yet... but becoming an adventurer... it’s not too troublesome, right?”

If it required an audit like in the Main World, Fang Zheng would just skip it.

”No.”

Saying this, the receptionist took out a piece of paper and placed it in front of Fang Zheng.

”Just fill out this information, and you can become an adventurer.”

”Oh? That’s simple, let me see...”

Fang Zheng picked up a quill pen and looked at the adventurer record sheet, which had name, gender, age, job, hair color, eye color, physique, height, skills, spells...

Wait, what’s this?

Looking at the record sheet, Fang Zheng was bewildered. It seemed like a character creation form in a game; typically, you just fill in name, age, gender, hometown...

And what’s up with hair color and eye color?

Can I go all edgy and set a golden and silver hybrid eye?

As Fang Zheng furrowed his brows in thought and put the quill onto the paper, he suddenly felt it.

The presence of Order.

Indeed, at that moment, Fang Zheng could clearly sense that the power of Order was somehow connected with this form; it seemed that filling out this form would bring him into a whole new realm...

Wait, does this mean that this world also has its own Order, and it operates normally here?

What’s going on here?

Why filling out a personal form would connect to the operation of Order, Fang Zheng did not know, but he was sure that this world’s Order still exists and is functioning according to its own rules!

If it were a normal world, Fang Zheng would fill out the form, but the Goddess of Order’s avatar had warned him that the core of this world is contaminated by Chaos, and if filling out the form meant being pulled into the Order’s rules, then he might risk getting contaminated.

To be safe...

Thinking this, Fang Zheng put down the pen, then he glanced at the Priestess of the Goddess beside him, and suddenly his eyes lit up.

I see, this is the true intent of the Prophecy Spell!

”I don’t want to become an adventurer, at least not right now... but I want to take this commission, is there another way?”

”That... there’s none...”

”Then, can I not take the commission and just go over and eliminate those bandits?”

”Of course you can, but Sir Knight, doing so would put us in a difficult position...”

”Well then...”

At this, Fang Zheng grabbed the Priestess of the Goddess beside him.

”Let her take the commission.”

”Huh?”

”She’s an adventurer, right? Then let her take this commission, and I’ll go with her, it shouldn’t be a problem.”

”Huh—?!”

Faced with Fang Zheng’s unexpected proposal, both the receptionist and the Priestess of the Goddess were so shocked that their eyes widened.
