Naruto: Becoming the Soul King

Becoming an official Shinigami of the Seireitei, this mission condition is a bit vague. Shouldn’t the mission be to join the Thirteen Court Guard Squads?

Leaving the archives, Seiryū walked toward Class 3-B, his mind preoccupied with the mission details.

The conditions for this newly issued mission were somewhat vague.

Seiryū recalled.

In the Bleach World, students who graduated from the Shin’ō Academy would usually choose to join the Thirteen Court Guard Squads and become official members.

Members of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads should be the official Shinigami of the Soul Society, right?

But why didn’t the System directly issue a mission to join the Thirteen Court Guard Squads?

Seiryū found this strange.

Wait, the Soul Society doesn’t only consist of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads. There are also the Covert Ops and the Kidō Corps. These three should be equal in status.

Seiryū suddenly remembered this detail.

If he remembered correctly.

Within the Soul Society, the Thirteen Court Guard Squads is not the only Shinigami organization.

There are two others, the Covert Ops and the Kidō Corps.

Although these two organizations don’t appear often, they don’t seem to be subordinate to the Thirteen Court Guard Squads.

The three are parallel organizations with equal standing.

It’s just that.

Because the Captain-Commander of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads, Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto, is very old, and the Thirteen Court Guard Squads is the strongest force.

This is why the Thirteen Court Guard Squads appears to be superior to the other two organizations.

After all, the Commander-in-Chief of the Covert Ops, Soifon, is also the Captain of the Second Squad of the Thirteen Court Guard Squads. The Grand Kidō Chief of the Kidō Corps also follows the orders of Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto.

More importantly, their screen time is too limited.

They were only mentioned briefly, and the information is scarce.

That must be the reason.

Seiryū felt he had figured out the truth.

This led to another speculation that he pondered as he walked. ”So, the reason the System hasn’t issued a mission related to Zanpakutō is because it thinks I’m a Kidō Corps reserve specializing in ’Kidō’? Or is it because I haven’t come into contact with an ’asauchi’?”

Shinigami are naturally and inevitably linked to Zanpakutō.

Zanpakutō is a setting that runs throughout the entire Shinigami narrative and is one of the fundamentals of Shinigami combat.

Except for a few exceptions, who doesn’t have their own Zanpakutō?

The importance of the Zanpakutō is self-evident.

However, it has been over three years since Seiryū activated the System, and he has already graduated from the Shin’ō Academy, yet the System has not issued any mission related to Zanpakutō.

This is rather strange.

Previously, due to the System’s unreliability and the fact that this is the Naruto World, distinct from the Bleach World.

Seiryū hadn’t looked into it too closely.

But now, Seiryū vaguely had a guess. The reason no mission related to Zanpakutō has been issued is likely because,

The System must have treated him as a Kidō Corps reserve.

And he hasn’t come into contact with an ”asauchi” at all.

Kidō Corps reserve, well, he once developed a new ”Kidō,” which was the Rasengan, and even received a System reward for it.

Perhaps this is the reason the System designated him as a Kidō Corps member specializing in ”Kidō”.

Of course, the most likely reason is that Seiryū hasn’t come into contact with an ”asauchi” at all.

That’s why the System hasn’t issued any missions related to Zanpakutō.

After all, System missions require specific conditions to be triggered.

Where in the Naruto World would he find an ”asauchi”?

Alas, he lost a chance to look cool, but the System is highly unreliable. Perhaps in the future, it will treat something else as an ”asauchi”. Being unreliable has its advantages.

Seiryū shook his head.

He stopped thinking about Zanpakutō.

What he gains is his fortune, what he loses is his fate.

Given the System’s unreliability, anything is possible.

It can treat the Ninja Academy as the Shin’ō Academy, and the Nine-Tails as an ordinary Hollow.

It’s not impossible for it to treat some item as an asauchi in the future.

Seiryū continued thinking about how to complete the mission. ”But how should I complete this mission? If I look for commonalities, an established organization in Konoha? Anbu or Root? Uh, forget Root.”

”It seems the Ninja Hospital should also count as an official establishment, right?”

Hmm, I’ll try that later.

Thinking these thoughts, Seiryū had already returned to Class 3-B.

Seeing Seiryū return, Kurenai immediately approached him. Although she phrased it as a question, her tone was completely certain. ”Seiryū, you got a perfect score, right?”

Seiryū composed himself and smiled. ”What do you think?”

”Hehe, I knew it!”

Kurenai smiled, looking exactly as if she had expected it, and then asked, ”By the way, Seiryū, what’s your ninja registration number? Mine is 010887!”

Seiryū pulled out his ninja file, glanced at the number, and was very pleased. ”010888. A great number!”

888 is a great omen.

”Yay? It’s just one number higher than mine! We must be fated!”

”Nonsense, we were right behind each other.”

Kurenai slapped her forehead, realizing she had been silly, and gave an embarrassed dry laugh. ”Oh, right.”

Seiryū looked sidelong at Kurenai without speaking.

But the meaning in his eyes was obvious. Are you perhaps an idiot?

Kurenai understood Seiryū’s look and couldn’t help but let out a soft snort. ”Hmph! I just forgot!”

Seiryū rubbed Kurenai’s head. ”Yes, yes, yes, you are the smartest, just a little clumsy!”

Rin glanced at Seiryū’s intimate gesture toward Kurenai and quietly thought to herself.

Mine is 010886.

That’s a few numbers away.

”Hehe, starting today, I’m a Genin!”

On the other side, Obito was rubbing his brand-new ninja headband, and the joy on his face was uncontrollable.

He flashed a smile that made him look like an idiot. ”Where should I tie the headband? Hmm, the forehead, I think. That looks the coolest!”

He then looked at Rin and asked excitedly, ”Rin, what do you think?”

Rin smiled softly. ”Mhm, that’s pretty good. I plan to tie mine on my forehead too.”

Obito became even happier. ”I’ve decided! I’m going to tie it on my forehead!”

Watching Obito’s behavior, Asuma couldn’t help but shake his head, muttering to himself. Is this Obito fellow hopeless? Can’t he see that Rin has feelings for Seiryū?

Not having the Sharingan doesn’t mean the Uchiha Clan is blind.

How can he not see something so obvious?

He truly is still a naive child who understands nothing.

Unlike him, who is already a mature man, seeing through everything and choosing to let go.

However, Obito must discover this kind of thing himself.

A mature man doesn’t gossip.

Asuma didn’t reveal it. Obito would understand when the time came.

Saying it now would only provoke him.

Asuma brought up another matter, suggesting to his classmates present. ”It seems we won’t get the team assignments until tomorrow. School’s out now, so why don’t we go celebrate everyone graduating successfully?”

Seiryū thought for a moment, didn’t refuse, and nodded. ”Sure, I have no objection. What about the rest of you?”

The others also nodded, having no objections.

The group had a good relationship and occasionally went out together.
