Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

He Chao looked at this vehicle with its batteries exposed; the fuel tank and other things inside had been removed, and except for the metal shell, everything inside had been replaced.

Though he had some doubts, once he saw Li Yu on the wall, he immediately nodded and ordered people to load the wood from a few days ago onto the truck. The weight hadn’t reached the target, so they directly placed the wood on the rear trailer box.

On the weighbridge, He Chao glanced at the weight.

”About right, 13 tons now; whether it can pull it off depends on this.” He Chao personally got into the vehicle, then started this heavily modified electric truck.

Clack-clack—

The tires rolled over the weighbridge, which still had some sand on it, making a harsh sound.

”It’s moving.” After He Chao started the vehicle, he felt it begin to move and said excitedly.

Very soon, as the truck gradually accelerated, its speed increased somewhat.

But He Chao dared not drive too fast; the batteries on this truck were all exposed, and the things inside weren’t firmly welded; driving too fast might cause the truck to fall apart shortly.

He maintained a speed of twenty kilometers per hour, driving the electric truck into the Outer City.

After unloading the wood, Li Yu also came down from the wall.

He looked at this somewhat bulky and ugly electric truck and walked up to He Chao and said, ”How is it? How did it feel driving it down here?”

He Chao, full of joy, said excitedly to Li Yu, ”Very good, Zhang San said this truck isn’t fully built yet; only the power was tested now. From my driving experience, carrying 13 tons of cargo is no problem; additionally, it can go faster if we’re not worried about it falling apart.”

Li Yu looked at the patched-together electric truck with eyes full of anticipation.

”Drive it back later, have him fully build the truck, and we’ll test it again then,” Li Yu said heavily to He Chao.

He Chao also knew about the loss of the engine at the base, so he understood the importance of the matter.

If this issue can be solved, it will greatly impact the base.

The problem of how to replenish fuel consumption once it is exhausted will be perfectly resolved.

As long as the fuel issue can be resolved, it will be equally possible to solve it with sufficient electricity.

”Alright, should I give Zhang San some kind of reward or something, or wait until he fully modifies the truck before discussing it?” He Chao asked.

”Wait until he completes the truck modifications before discussing it,” Li Yu said without hesitation.

”Okay.” He Chao saw that most of the wood had been unloaded and returned to the electric truck, driving back to the construction site in the Third Outer City.

Zhang San watched as He Chao drove the truck back, excitement on his face.

The others around him were somewhat confused about why it was being done this way.

They didn’t know about the Zombie Generator matter at the Big Camphor Tree Base.

Even though Zhang San didn’t know either, doing this let him recapture that feeling of excitement.

He really enjoyed researching these things, though they seemed to have little use in the Doomsday.

”Brother Chao, how was it?” Zhang San asked as He Chao got off the truck.

He Chao nodded in satisfaction and said, ”It can move, which is already good, but it’s too rough now; we can’t test its real performance. Here’s what we’ll do: continue perfecting the truck, and once it’s complete, we’ll test it again.”

Upon hearing He Chao say it’s good, Zhang San’s face lit up like a flower.

”No problem, just give me some time.”

”How long?” He Chao asked.

”At least four days; right now, I’ve just piled up the batteries, the layout is somewhat unreasonable, and there’s the welding too. All this takes time.” Zhang San hesitated for a moment before stating a time frame.

He Chao didn’t understand these things well, but he wasn’t in a hurry.

So he said, ”Alright, if you lack anything, just let me know.”

Zhang San felt significant support from this sentence, which made him think more.

He knew that now they were building the Third Outer City, and though He Chao was Li Yu’s close aide, he was only a small leader.

To be able to fully invest in modifying this truck, perhaps there was the support of the Big Camphor Tree Base’s key men, Li Yu, behind it.

Thinking of these things, Zhang San was full of fighting spirit, determined to modify the truck well.

He nodded heavily and said to He Chao, ”Thank you, Brother Chao.”

Then he immediately began to modify the truck, getting busy.

Li Yu, on the wall, watched the busy Zhang San, lost in thought.

Over the past few days, he had spent some time on the wall, observing Zhang San.

This Zhang San seems unusually enthusiastic about electric vehicles; just today, he appeared fully invested in it.

He even forgot the most important and heaviest task for them: eating, and was only reminded to eat by his team member Sha Wenji.

At least for now, it seems Zhang San is extremely passionate, serious, and focused on electric vehicles and power systems.

Such people are usually relatively straightforward.
