Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

The area built in the Third Outer City is too large, within such a range, zombies attracted at night can easily hide among them.

”We need to find a solution to this problem,” Li Yu said with a furrowed brow.

Xiao Jun, who was nearby, said, ”Director Li, it’s fine, we wake up every morning after clearing them out, as long as we don’t let a single zombie inside.”

Li Yu looked at him, satisfied, and said, ”It’s hard work, I’ll add some manpower for you. It’s still a bit demanding with just your twenty guards. How about I give you ten more people for now, hold on for a while. We’ll brainstorm for a solution.”

Xiao Jun did not refuse and nodded, ”Okay.”

After all, they have already been utilized to the extreme across a hundred-plus acres.

Manpower is definitely lacking.

After assessing the situation here, Li Yu immediately said, ”There’s another way, get closer to the construction site, being on a higher spot makes it easier to see more clearly.”

......

After instructing Xiao Jun, Li Yu returned to the wall.

Seeing Li Yu frown deeply, Second Uncle asked with some confusion, ”Is something wrong with Xiao Jun there?”

Li Yu shook his head and said, ”Not yet, just afraid there might be troubles later. So many people are busy at the construction site, there are always some zombies coming from outside. Although Xiao Jun and his team can hold out for now, there’s the risk of one or two zombies slipping through later and possibly biting someone, that would be a problem.”

Upon hearing this, Second Uncle also fell silent.

”That’s indeed a troublesome matter, needs to be solved quickly,” Second Uncle murmured.

Li Yu walked out of the on-duty room, looking at the busy activity in the Third Outer City.

Originally, Big Camphor Tree Base was quite secluded, with the built location some distance from the national road, connected by a provincial road.

When Doomsday first rebirthed, Li Yu was thinking only of cultivating his small plot of land, hiding in the deep mountains and forests, isolated from the world.

However, the development that followed caught him by surprise. As collaboration models unfolded, the base’s productivity skyrocketed, and the pace of growth accelerated sharply.

The key benefit of this model is the ability to use the least amount of food to maintain the greatest cost of labor, without being burdened by population.

The base has now expanded to the third outer city.

How fast.

Li Yu walked on the wall, looking at the fresh green of the mountains and forests.

The trees in the mountains have recovered quickly, before him a scene of greenery unfolded once more.

And for Big Camphor Tree Base, these tall trees serve as the best cover.

Moreover, trees can hinder some larger Zombie Tides.

Hmm?

Li Yu suddenly looked at these trees, a bright idea flashing in his mind.

The reason they’re so strained now is because, outside of the ten-meter range around the wall, the trees have been cleared, but outside of the Third Outer City, the trees have not been cleared.

Often, the need for so much manpower is because of the obstructing trees.

Many people outside now know about Big Camphor Tree Base.

In such circumstances, there’s no need to keep things concealed.

Li Yu slapped his forehead: ”Just cut down the trees.”

He quickly ran to the duty room and explained his idea to Second Uncle.

Upon hearing this, Second Uncle laughed and said, ”We’ve trapped ourselves, how could we not think of such a simple idea. I think it’s doable; we can also gather some timber to make arrows, quite a bit was consumed last time.”

After deciding, Li Yu took Dapao, Li Gang, and others to the Third Outer City construction site.

He gathered everyone and came over.

Li Yu said to everyone:

”These past two days, there have been some zombies appearing frequently at the construction site, and people have also expressed to me that they’re constantly worried about zombies appearing suddenly during construction. I understand everyone’s concerns.”

”To address this, I’ve decided to cut down all trees within a fifty-meter range outside the Third Outer City. Ding Jiu, don’t you have two tower cranes? Place one at the central highest point, so that it can see farther, and once you spot zombies appearing outside, the person in the tower crane can report the surrounding situation anytime.”

Tower cranes are generally forty to fifty meters high, the taller ones can be hundreds of meters.

Standing at such heights, overseeing the surrounding area shouldn’t be much of an issue.

Ding Jiu nodded and said, ”Okay, moving it might be a bit troublesome, but it’s fine, I can handle it.”

”Alright, everyone temporarily stop what you’re doing, sharpening your tools without delaying work, working anxiously isn’t as good as eliminating hidden dangers first, everyone join in and cut down all the trees within fifty meters outside the Third Outer City.”

After saying this, Li Yu jumped from the excavator top.

He picked up a chainsaw and walked over to help.

Several hundred people coordinated their efforts.

People cutting trees, people slicing cuts, people transporting wood.

In one morning, all trees within fifty kilometers of the Third Outer City were cut down.

The Southern Chinese pine isn’t very wide, even for decades-old trees, the diameter is only a few dozen centimeters, making them quick to chop.

After chopping down these trees, the view widened instantly when looking around.

Li Yu initially stated a range of fifty meters, but after actually cutting, found it not enough, so expanded the range by twenty meters.

Thus, within seventy meters outside the Third Outer City wall, not a single tree remained.

Only bare stumps were left.
