Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Nightfall.

Guang Steel Factory.

A few bonfires and vehicle lights illuminated an open space next to the warehouse.

Everyone held their own bowls, filled with aromatic snake meat and snake soup, paired with the mixed buns distributed by the base.

Old Qin sat on a large rock on the ground, chatting with Third Uncle:

”Captain, we’ve done the afternoon review, and counted 13,000 tons of steel here. With our trucks, if we set a load limit of 30 tons, but now nobody cares, these trucks are loaded with 40 tons each, ten trucks, 400 tons, plus the pickup trucks found in the industrial park, we can load about another 150 tons, so this trip we can take back 550 tons. We’ll probably need to transport many trips with this much steel.”

Third Uncle nodded, took a sip of snake soup from his bowl, and said:

”No problem, we came here to set up a forward base anyway. There are still some heavy trucks at the base, tomorrow morning we’ll look around the area to see if there are any larger haulers, try to bring back more steel.”

Old Qin pondered for a while and asked, ”Should we leave some people here to guard the steel? After all, several groups followed us when we were on the road.”

Third Uncle shook his head and said, ”No need, these groups aren’t unaware of the steel mill; they want food. Steel isn’t that important to them, if they wanted it, they would have taken it long ago.”

Old Qin thought about it, agreed with Third Uncle’s reasoning, and focused on the snake soup in hand, which should be consumed hot, otherwise it becomes fishy when cold.

Third Uncle glanced towards the gate, then beckoned Guo Peng over to get some delivered to Gongsun Jing and others on duty at the gate.

Tonight’s duty roster remains as vigilant as ever.

Old Qin is on duty for the first half of the night, coincidentally, three people can sleep in the armored camper.

So he asked Ant to rest in the camper together; that night, Ant slept peacefully and deeply.

Dusk was silent.

But as darkness engulfed the light, the growls of zombies rang out around the steel factory.

Some sounds were far, some close.

The iron gate at the entrance had been re-welded, and a makeshift barricade was crafted using steel from inside the factory to seal the gate.

They wouldn’t need to go out tonight, they can cut it open tomorrow when they leave.

Within five kilometers, in a tall building, those people who appeared during the day hid here.

”Where did they suddenly come from, what are they planning here?”

”Fix the car up tomorrow, you really managed to crash it into a concrete pile, being out with you is downright unlucky.”

”Cough, it wasn’t you who said to hurry up......”

”Enough talk, make sure to fix the car tomorrow, let’s rush back, don’t bother with Crow’s people, we’ll report back to Brother Dong. I don’t want any contact with those brutes.”

”Yeah, I think so too.”

As the conversation ended, the zombie growls around became more pronounced.

Inside the steel factory.

In the middle of the night, outside the gate, a lot of zombies were attracted here.

There were at least a thousand, continuously ramming against the big iron gate.

Old Qin, who was on duty, saw this and promptly instructed Zhu Xiao, who was also on duty, to drive a truck over to brace the iron gate.

Watching the big iron gate sway and teeter under the zombies’ impact, Old Qin stowed his rifle on his back, took out the crossbow, and shot at the foremost zombies.

At night, if you can avoid using guns, it’s best not to use them.

Even with silencers, they still make noise. If more zombies are attracted, the trouble will grow.

With the crossbow firing, zombies at the gate dropped in response.

Zhu Xiao quickly drove the truck over, even with great care, still creating some noise.

The zombies outside the gate became more agitated upon hearing the sounds, fiercely ramming the iron gate.

The iron gate swayed precariously under the impact, although reinforced during the day, it wasn’t holding up well after two years of weathering.

Whoosh whoosh whoosh——

Old Qin kept firing into the zombie horde, while others around him jabbed at the zombies below with extended spears.

Despite having battled zombies countless times, encountering them always brings some tension.

Seeing the iron gate almost giving way, the truck was still adjusting direction.

”Hurry, the iron gate’s failing,” Old Qin shouted to Zhu Xiao at the wheel behind.

Zhu Xiao couldn’t care about anything else, turned the wheel fully left, then backed up against the wall.

Scrape scrape scrape——

The truck scraped the wall, making some noises.

White marks were left on the truck body, and large fragments fell off the wall.

Bang!

The truck braced against the iron gate, sealing it shut.

The three iron bolts anchoring the iron gate succumbed to the truck’s force, leaving the gate collapsing outwards.

The iron gate and the steel plate welded on during the day, fell directly onto the zombies outside.

If the gate hadn’t been reinforced, it wouldn’t be heavy.

But with the steel plate welded in the afternoon, it weighed a ton.

The ton-heavy iron gate toppled onto the zombies, crushing dozens beneath it.

”Good,” Old Qin looked delighted at the scene.

Zhu Xiao exited from the truck’s right side, then climbed onto the truck roof to observe the zombies outside.
