Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Guang Province, Shaosh City.

Suburban outskirts.

After Third Uncle and his group left Guang Steel Factory, they drove swiftly towards Xin City.

From eight o’clock in the morning when the sun rose, until dusk, they reached the border between Jiangxi and Guangdong provinces.

Bam!

Third Uncle got out of the car and looked around. This place used to be a service area on the highway. With the barriers on the highway, it can block some zombies.

Although there are no walls, the number of zombies is relatively low at this location, which is 20 kilometers away from the city.

Moreover, they needed a large space to park so many vehicles, and the service area by the highway was a good choice for overnight camping.

”Not bad, let’s stay here for the night. Zhu Xiao, take some people to check if there is any gasoline left at that gas station. Guo Peng, check the convenience store and restaurant to see if there are any zombies or anything, and clean up.” After getting out of the car, Third Uncle assigned tasks to the two.

In the apocalypse, the first thing to do upon arriving somewhere is to search for useful resources and clear out any zombies.

That was their hard-earned experience.

After receiving Third Uncle’s orders, the two of them split up to complete their tasks.

In the car, Ant checked Xiao Hei’s wound on his back, which had improved a lot, changed the medication and the bandage, and then got out of the car.

For the past two days, his mood had been quite good. On the road, he even took turns driving with Old Qin.

They talked about many things along the way, reminiscing about the past, each memory seemingly from yesterday, yet feeling so distant.

Carefree laughter, something he hadn’t experienced in a long time.

Old Qin, carrying a rifle, walked around the highway ramp entrance. After finding nothing wrong, he came over to the RV.

Old Qin, gazing at the sunset, said to Third Uncle, ”I thought the return would be slower, but surprisingly, following the same route back, it’s a bit faster. If we’re quick, we might reach the base as early as tomorrow.”

Third Uncle nodded with a smile, ”Indeed, let’s maintain this pace, keep it steady.”

The three of them chatted while watching the sunset.

.......

At Big Camphor Tree Base.

Since assigning him the electrical tasks in the Third Outer City, he, along with a few others, had built elevators from before the apocalypse, greatly improving the speed of constructing the foundations.

Moreover, when building the parts above ground later, this thing could also come in handy.

Today, seeing He Chao and the others driving to refuel, he inquired about the fuel storage at the base. He Chao thought for a moment, recalling Li Yu’s instructions, and mentioned the issue of the electric vehicles at the base lacking power.

Zhang San chuckled, ”That’s simple.”

Then he tasked He Chao with finding several electric vehicle batteries to modify a medium truck.

Before the apocalypse, most electric vehicles were SUVs and sedans, with limited transport capacity.

The core issue is power. The power issue of electric vehicles involves the battery and the electric motor booster.

Why, before the apocalypse, there were not many electric trucks and cargo vehicles?

The fundamental problem is still the battery, the battery’s density and capacity were insufficient, not holding enough power.

If you want to enhance the power of an electric vehicle, you either achieve a technological breakthrough, allowing a battery of the same size to store more power, or you use more batteries.

Obviously, using more batteries can solve the problem to some extent, but each battery occupies space, which doesn’t align with automotive design aesthetics.

But to Zhang San, in the apocalypse, such concerns are trivial. The issue of battery energy density is not something that can be solved immediately, so go for a bold approach: stack batteries, pair with boosters and motors to ramp up the power.

The final product might look awful, but at least it’s practical.

The construction of electric vehicles is much simpler than fuel vehicles.

After a day of busy work, Zhang San used five times the batteries of an ordinary electric vehicle, paired with the best motor and booster found at the base, and explosively modified a medium truck into an electric mid-size cargo truck.

As the batteries occupied some space, a trailer was hooked to the back to load cargo.

Zhang San looked at this rough electric mid-size cargo truck, with the batteries exposed on the surface, it’s clear refinement would be needed later, but the basic framework was complete.

He had the idea for a long time, but it seemed too unrealistic.

Before the apocalypse, for enterprises, the most important issue was material cost. The most expensive part of a vehicle was the battery. To use so many batteries and boosters to cobble together an electric truck, the cost would be too high.

The market is selective, and compared to the battery-laden electric truck, an ordinary diesel truck was much cheaper in terms of both price and cost.

So, no one did it before not because they couldn’t, but because there was no need, and there were better options in the market.

But in the apocalypse, there’s no need to consider market choices.

To Li Yu, and to Big Camphor Tree Base, electricity is continuous.

But gasoline and fuel will deplete, once used up, they’re gone.

This explosively modified, cobbled-together framework looked like it would fall apart with a light touch.

”Brother Chao, try it, use this vehicle to test hauling freight. This is just a framework; you just need to see if it can haul 12 tons of cargo, the details will still need refining.” Zhang San, after finishing with the vehicle, immediately found He Chao to test it.
