Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

The flood receded relatively quickly in other areas, but along the banks of the Long River, it did not retreat as swiftly.

The people on Lu Mountain, including Dongfeng, waited for a long time before the water level finally decreased. Although there was still a lot of water at the foot of the mountain, they could take a detour to leave.

A month ago, because Lu Mountain is near Poyang Lake, the lower elevation areas of Lu Mountain were completely submerged by the flood.

Sometimes, they felt as though they were stranded on an isolated island in the ocean.

Poyang Lake was to the east, so they could only leave from the west.

The vehicles were left at a parking spot halfway up the mountain, but they were also completely submerged by the flood and were completely ruined.

Early in the morning, they set out.

Walking on the somewhat muddy road, looking at the smoke and clouds over the mountain forest, the humidity of the air was high; they marveled at the beauty of the scenery.

The sunlight over the Incense Burner gives off a purple haze, gazing far the waterfall hangs in front of the river. The torrent falls three thousand feet straight down, it seems as if the Milky Way is pouring from the heavens.

This poem is the most famous in depicting the beauty of Lu Mountain.

However, they walked hurriedly and, after a few glances, continued to move downhill with a clear objective.

They were heading to the legendary Big Camphor Tree Base in Xin City. No matter what, from some of the details Old Dong mentioned, along with the reality of needing refuge, they could only take the gamble.

Quickly, they made their way down the mountain.

Looking at the still turbulent waters opposite them, Uncle Wan shook his head and said to Dongfeng, ”Boss, we still need to head west. The terrain there is higher, though we still have to climb over mountains and ridges, it won’t be long before we reach Xiu County.”

Dongfeng nodded and slightly loosened the straps of his backpack.

Coming down the mountain, the temperature rose several degrees, combined with the constant movement, their bodies were covered in sweat. The sweat on his back clung uncomfortably to him.

”Hmm, it’s okay, let’s go! We shouldn’t stay by the water too long, there are many Zombies by the water, it’s dangerous!” Dongfeng said, pulling on the back of his shirt.

A group of more than twenty people turned west.

Their plan was to descend Lu Mountain, enter Xiu County, then bypass the Zombie-infested Chang City, continue south towards New City, Ji City, and after a long journey, finally reach Xin City.

Each person carried a backpack, holding various luggage. Some even used small handcarts they found somewhere, squeaking as they pushed them along.

Walking through the forest, Dongfeng led the group carrying a backpack, holding a spear in one hand. He led the way while vigilantly watching the surroundings. At the first sign of trouble, he would warn the others.

In Rao City, not far from Lu Mountain.

Xu Chengcai and his son had come down from Sanqing Mountain. After bidding farewell to the Sanqing Temple, they returned to the small cabin halfway up the mountain.

Looking at the small cabin that sheltered them for two months, Xu Chengcai watched for a long time before going inside to take the backpack containing food.

Xiao Yong looked at the cabin with some reluctance and said to his father, ”Can’t we stay here?”

Xu Chengcai looked around and said, ”We can’t stay here much longer. We’ll have to leave eventually.”

Xiao Yong took a last look at the cabin, picked up a bag from the ground, and holding his father’s hand, walked down the mountain together.

In these two months, they ate much of the food left in the cabin’s storage.

In fact, there wasn’t much left.

The remaining food was packed by Xu Chengcai into a large backpack, while he gave the lighter items to Xiao Yong to carry, holding another bundle in his hand.

The spear and weapons were packed on the side of the backpack, within arm’s reach.

The journey down was steep, and their pace was not fast.

When they reached the foot of the mountain, the wooden cabin where they had originally lived was already washed away by the flood, leaving no trace of wood behind.

”Let’s go!” Xu Chengcai tightened his grip on Xiao Yong’s hand, and the two of them headed towards the mountain pass, needing to cross two mountains to get through the river that had formed after the flood.

If they used a boat, it would save a lot of time and effort, but in the Doomsday, no one would want to linger in the water.

The Zombies in the water are far more agile than those on land, once in the water, it’s a life-and-death situation.

In the water, it’s nearly impossible to escape.

Big Camphor Tree Base.

The Third Outer City was still under construction. In recent days, Xiao Jun discovered some Zombies during his reconnaissance outside; sometimes there were only a few, other times fifty or sixty.

After all, with more people, more Zombies were attracted, and since the walls were not built yet, Zombies came from all directions.

Fortunately, Xiao Jun and his team discovered these Zombies in time and resolved the issue. Otherwise, if Zombies broke into the construction site and injured people, it would be even more troublesome.

Li Yu brought Dapao and others outside, and at the Third Outer City’s perimeter, Li Yu looked at the dozens of Zombie corpses before him, frowning tightly.

Now, the first thing every morning before construction was not to turn on the power but to conduct a thorough inspection of the site. Recently, they found Zombies hiding under the foundations being built at night; some even hid behind building materials, and carelessly, almost bit someone.

Luckily, Laofei was quick-witted and pulled the person back, avoiding it just in time.

This inspection took half an hour, which was a significant waste of time, but it couldn’t be skipped.
