Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

The sun sets in the west, as night slowly falls with the passage of time.

Third Uncle didn’t go upstairs to rest, but stayed in the armored RV.

This armored RV is covered with a layer of 5-centimeter steel plates and railings all over, making it hard for zombies to break in.

Plus, the RV is equipped with a toilet, bed, and bedding.

It’s better to sleep in the RV than to sleep upstairs on the floor.

On this trip out, Li Yu provided everyone with dry rations.

Each person received a half-month’s supply, which was dry, self-made buns that could be preserved for a long time without moisture after being air-dried.

These buns contain some dried vegetables, locust powder, edible oil, salt, flour.......

These buns are quite filling.

Some people were assigned to stand guard at the gate while everyone checked the vehicle conditions, refueled, filled water, and took a rest here.

Third Uncle returned to the armored RV and saw Old Qin holding a handful of noodles, cooking them inside the RV.

He shouted to Old Qin: ”There are eggs in the refrigerator, you can make an egg to eat.”

Old Qin nodded and took out two eggs from the refrigerator.

Old Qin smiled a bit, following the captain is indeed good.

After all, Zhu Xiao and the others are extra staff, so their meals are naturally a bit poorer.

But for them, having food to eat is already not bad, what more could they ask for?

Third Uncle took out a can of red cola from his pocket, thought for a moment, and stuffed it into the small on-board refrigerator.

”What’s that?” Old Qin put two bowls of cooked vegetable and egg noodles on the central table in the RV.

”Cola.” Third Uncle said casually.

”????? You still have this stuff?” Old Qin said in surprise.

It’s known that, as time passes, some puffed foods and drinks like this have long disappeared.

As for himself, he hasn’t had this stuff for almost two years.

Even at the Big Camphor Tree Base, he rarely sees this thing.

The last time he saw it was a long time ago, seeing Li Yuan drinking it.

Third Uncle pointed to the roller skating rink and said, ”Just found it there. We’ll each have half later.”

Old Qin laughed happily, ”Hehe!”

Following the captain is indeed good, Li being Director Li’s relative certainly has its perks.

They have enough cigarettes, if Third Uncle liked drinking, there would probably be plenty of alcohol too.

He himself also benefits.

The two took a cigarette in one hand and chopsticks in the other, slurping the noodles.

The sunset outside, through the gaps in the car’s steel plates, shone into the car.

But as the sun sets, it became darker.

Third Uncle casually turned on the car lights.

Soon, the two finished eating their noodles, down to the very last drop of soup.

While smoking, Third Uncle felt it was about time.

So he asked Old Qin to take out the cola from the refrigerator.

The cola can was bulging as if the bottle could explode at any moment.

Probably affected by the high temperatures previously.

Pop——

Old Qin opened the cola lid.

No bubbles came out.

”Pour it into the bowl.” Third Uncle said when he saw Old Qin handing him the cola.

Old Qin poured it into Third Uncle’s clean bowl.

Gurgle——

As he poured, some bubbles appeared.

Half for each.

Third Uncle puffed out a smoke ring, then downed the cola in one go.

Ice-cold, sweet, with a hint of fizz.

Burp——

Third Uncle let out a loud burp.

He stood up and said to Old Qin, ”I’ll go arrange the watch shifts. Besides, we two will also take shifts, you take the first half of the night, I take the second half.”

”Alright, Captain.” Old Qin drank a small sip of cola, smiling.

........

Not a word was spoken through the night.

Last night, although some zombies noticed them, they were in rural areas near the highway.

There were only dozens of zombies, which Third Uncle and the others ignored.

After the sun came up, only three or four zombies remained outside, and the others had left.

Everyone quickly woke up, driving the vehicles and continuing to travel south.

Guo Peng backed up the truck, which leaned against the gate, blocking it.

Last night, this truck played a role in preventing zombies from getting in.

Rumble——

The vehicle steering wheel turned left to the max, then reversed, turned right to the max.

Rumbled outwards, ignoring the three zombies there.

But the three zombies rushed towards the truck.

Gurgle——

The vehicle directly ran over the zombies.

The vehicles in the back ran over them one after another, as they’re no longer surprised by zombies.

After leaving the swimming pool, Guo Peng parked at the side of the highway, letting the armored RV take the lead.

The RV moved to the front, followed by Zhu Xiao and others driving the trucks behind.

Everyone rested well last night, so they continued on the journey.

With the bumpiness, they started a new day’s journey.

During the bumpy ride, they left Gan City and entered Nanling.

Coming out of Nanling around noon, they arrived at Danxia Mountain.

”Captain, after another few dozen kilometers, we should reach Shaosh City. We should first search over there, right?” Old Qin asked while steering.

Third Uncle looked at the map and said, ”Yes, go and see over there, if we find something over there, great. Otherwise, we’ll have to go further to Guang City, which has more zombies and is quite dangerous.”

”Alright.” Old Qin didn’t waste more time and stepped on the gas, heading south.

After crossing Nanling, perhaps it hadn’t been flooded, the road was a bit smoother but not by much.

The bumpiness wasn’t as severe though.

They drove for about two hours and arrived near the Shaosh Steel Factory.

Looking at a huge signboard by the roadside: Shaosh Group Co., Ltd.

Old Qin felt a bit delighted, saying, ”We can get there from here.”

There were many vehicles parked by the roadside, but the armored RV pushed them aside.

After driving for roughly 10 minutes, Third Uncle and Old Qin looked grimly at the road ahead.

In front of them lay a long high-speed train, derailed and toppled over on the road.

The entire train, hundreds of meters long, lay like a giant dragon on the road, blocking their path.

This high-speed train was completely scrapped, twisted like a pretzel.

”It must have happened at the outbreak of Doomsday, the driver lost control,” Old Qin said with some sorrow.

Without hesitation, Third Uncle checked the map and said, ”No worries, we’ll take another route, make a detour from the west side.”

This Shaosh Steel Factory is right next to a lake.

After all, steel factories require a lot of water.

”Let’s go through the Shaosh City Roasting Plant.” Third Uncle pointed to the map, showing Old Qin.

There are two entrances to the steel factory, one on the west side and the other where they currently are.

The east and north sides are covered with lake water, making it impossible to pass via water.

”Alright.” Old Qin agreed without hesitation and turned back.

Zhu Xiao and the others in the back also saw the overturned high-speed train, so they didn’t ask questions and quietly followed in reverse.

20 minutes later.

They made quite a detour to reach the western entrance.

Only, when they arrived at this west entrance, they saw something unpleasant.

Shaogang Avenue.

The houses on both sides of the road ahead seemed intentionally exploded, collapsing onto the avenue.

The debris was dozens of meters long, and at the far end, piles of dirt rose like small mountains. Various construction waste and dirt blocked the road completely.

Third Uncle seeing this took out the telescope, wanting to find some clues.

No doubt, this was certainly intentional, to prevent anyone from passing here.

Old Qin and Third Uncle both felt the same thought rising in their minds: could there still be people inside Shaosh Steel Factory? Otherwise, why would they do this?

Not only did they block the zombies, but also blocked humans from passing.

Third Uncle looked for a while through the telescope, hesitated for a moment, and said, ”Back up, let’s leave this road for now.”
