Apocalyptic Reincarnation: Start with a 30-million Bonus

Chapter 640: Chapter 537: Things Are More Complicated Than You Imagine!_2

Gan Shang’s team had nearly 300 security personnel on Juzi Island; amongst them, a hundred had gone to the west for food transportation.

Currently, there are nearly two hundred left at the base.

And that’s just Gan Shang’s strength; if one were to also consider the unpredictable Gan Xiong, it would be even more troublesome if he decided to investigate.

The best solution is to leave this place.

When Gan Gaojie and his group went out, they did so for the sake of freshness and fun, specifically choosing a time when Gan Shang was absent.

Aside from Ju Tianrui and the escorts such as Xiao Jun, no one else knew.

As long as they left without Ju Tianrui revealing anything, Gan Shang would be unaware of their destination.

Leaving had become the best option.

...

Early in the morning, just as dawn broke, Third Uncle and Old Qin saw Xiao Jun and others saying goodbye to Ju Tianrui in an upstairs area, out of sight from those below.

Third Uncle saw the reluctance and guilt in Xiao Jun’s eyes, and Ju Tianrui, whom he didn’t recognize, also had a complex expression.

Third Uncle was somewhat puzzled, not knowing exactly what had happened.

Juzi Island.

The northern part.

On the third floor of a small building.

Ju Tianrui saluted them, then watched as they went downstairs and left.

On the way down, they deliberately avoided places with many people, sneaking away.

By the time they had left,

A convoy was slowly approaching from the west.

...

At the border between Guangdong and Jiangxi provinces.

Li Yu and his companions had been jostled around in the vehicle for quite some time.

In the middle of the day, Li Yu was making instant noodles in the vehicle, his hand shaking due to the loader’s vibrations.

Casting a glance at Li Tie, who was sound asleep, Li Yu felt speechless.

Such shaking, and yet Li Tie fell asleep on the vehicle after preparing the ammunition.

He felt a bit envious, to be honest.

Quickly finishing the instant noodles, he turned to Old Luo beside him and asked, ”How much farther do we have to look at the map?”

With a bitter smile, Old Luo replied, ”Still a long way to go. The planned route avoids passing through Yangcheng, so we need to take a bit of a detour close to Fushi.”

Li Yu looked at the map; indeed, Fushi was still a good distance away.

Bang—

Another severe jolt.

Li Yu said to Dapao, driving, ”Dapao, drive with a bit more steadiness. Everyone’s about to be shaken apart.”

Dapao grinned and replied, ”Can’t help it. Just now, there were two cars ahead that we couldn’t get around, so we had to knock them out of the way.”

Li Yu looked back at the two flattened metal frames behind the vehicle and twitched his mouth before saying to Dapao, ”You call that knocking them out of the way? You basically flattened those two cars.”

Dapao innocently said, ”These wheels are too big, just drove straight over, who knew they’d get flattened.”

Li Yu waved his hand, saying, ”Anyway, just drive more carefully, don’t treat this vehicle like a bumper car. Even the best quality can’t withstand your abuse.”

After hearing what Li Yu said, Dapao also put away his playful attitude and drove the vehicle more smoothly.

The vehicle’s speed was indeed slow, averaging only 40-45 kilometers per hour.

In areas with a lot of vehicles, the speed was even slower.

And the other vehicles following behind them also reduced their speed considerably.

Finally, Yang Tianlong, who had been following behind and eating their dust, was maintaining a very low speed.

He couldn’t help but take out the walkie-talkie and said to Li Yu, ”Xiaoyu, how about I go ahead and check the situation first? Look for a suitable parking spot. When you guys get there, you can park right there.

Additionally, we can also check out the zombie situation over there.”

After hearing his words, Li Yu thought it made some sense and said to Old Luo beside him, ”Old Luo, in a bit you and Tianlong head over first. We’ll catch up from behind.”

Old Luo had already felt quite uncomfortable sitting in the two big vehicles.

The giant loader was impressive and sitting at such a high position indeed had its own flair.

But after the initial novelty wore off, he felt like his butt was about to be shaken into two halves.

Now hearing that Li Yu was letting him go ahead and get into the comfortable Unimog, he was more than willing.

So, he said happily, ”Sure, no problem.”

Li Yu replied, ”Okay, then stop at the downhill area ahead. Dapao, make way later and let Tianlong’s vehicle past first.”

Both Old Luo and Dapao nodded.

Downhill braking.

The loader has no trouble climbing up the hill, but it requires great care when descending.

If you don’t hold the brakes tightly going downhill, the two-hundred-plus-ton vehicle can easily dive straight into the paddy field below.

Upon reaching the flat area after the descent.

Old Luo gets out of the vehicle and boards the Unimog.

He hits the gas, driving forward at a speed of a hundred kilometers per hour.

”Finally, no more stops and stutters,” said Yang Tianlong as he drove towards the military district, swift as the wind.

The window rolled down, and the long-missed breeze blew in.

Instead of the expected coolness, a hot wave surged in.

Yang Tianlong quickly closed the window and looked at Old Luo, who had just gotten out of the car for a moment and already had sweat on his forehead, and said, ”This damned weather, it’s too freaking hot.”

Old Luo sat in the car, found the vehicle’s fridge, and took out a bottle of ice water.

He took a few gulps and then said, ”That’s better, it’s much more comfortable inside than outside. The loader is impressive but too bumpy.

The Unimog is definitely more comfortable to sit in.”

Seeing him like that, Yang Tianlong couldn’t help but laugh: ”Alright, Old Luo, tell me about your past. I used to be from the South China Military District too. How come you know so much?”

Ever since Old Luo joined the Big Camphor Tree Base, he had gained a few pounds. Sitting in front of the air vent, he comfortably talked about the past:

”The things from the past, well, I have to start from when I first joined the new recruits ten years ago....”

....

Along the way, they didn’t encounter any other people.

Yang Tianlong and the others were driving fast and arrived near Fushi by 3 PM.

Old Luo looked at the map and said, ”Take the Foshan Highway, get off at the Nanzhuang overpass, and we’ll be in Nanzhuang Town.”

Yang Tianlong checked the navigation, then according to the guided route, asked Old Luo, ”Old Luo, does this route look good?”

Old Luo was, after all, familiar with this area, and after inspecting the planned route from the navigation, he replied, ”It’s fine, no problem, the roads are all wide here, should be easy to navigate.”

One vehicle, six people, plus the old Zhou who had been following Qin.

Old Zhou had been pretty comfortable these days.

Every now and then, he managed to get a drink or two, even if it was made from potatoes, but it still counted as alcohol. In this apocalyptic world, having food to eat and alcohol to drink was enough.

Upon reaching Nanzhuang Town, they could see with the naked eye that the number of Zombies had increased a lot.

When they saw hundreds of Zombies behind the bridge, Yang Tianlong stopped the vehicle.

And watched from a distance.

Old Luo also opened the roof of the Unimog and used a telescope to check things out.

The majority of the Zombies were in military uniforms, but most of them were unarmed.

The initial zombie outbreak was too sudden;

In the densely populated barracks, it happened in the middle of the night, and the spread was too rapid.

Old Luo said to Yang Tianlong, ”Let’s go to the back of Eastern Building Materials City. It’s high ground there, we can observe from a distance, and it’s a big place, the loader will definitely fit.”

Yang Tianlong nodded and said, ”Okay, tell me how to get there.”

After pondering for a moment, Old Luo instructed, ”Don’t bother with navigation, I know this place well. Just take this road, make a U-turn, then a right. I’ll tell you the rest later, you won’t remember it if I tell you too much now.”

No argument there.

Yang Tianlong followed Old Luo’s directions and headed that way.

At that moment, one hundred kilometers from them.

The outskirts of Yangcheng, Huadu.

Li Yu and the group had just arrived there.

Li Yu was feeling really uncomfortable from the bumpy ride and had made a decision that when they turned back, he would let Yang Tianlong ride in this vehicle for a bit.

This journey had really tossed his young and tough body around.

Seeing Li Tie still sound asleep with his head down, Li Yu couldn’t help but get annoyed.

But as he got more irritated, he ended up laughing.

His cousin and Li Gang, who was repetitively checking his firearms,

These two cousins, though each quite stubborn,

Had helped him a lot in this apocalyptic world.

Brothers in arms in battle, just like father and son on the battlefield.

Having them with him felt truly good.
