System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

Lu Cheng’s suggestion wasn’t too unreasonable.

Based on one premise, that is, Tian Zhuang hadn’t bought the link Lu Cheng sent yet.

Even if Lu Cheng was promoting it, without completing the transaction, he couldn’t profit.

Besides, Lu Cheng was indeed the duty doctor, and the shift at the emergency department wasn’t a joke.

In contrast, today Tian Zhuang and his brothers seemed to treat the ”emergency department” as a joke, stirring up trouble over such a minor issue.

It’s clear to anyone with a discerning eye that Lu Cheng suggested Tian Zhuang buy the operation tools to teach him the technique—it’s a tool for learning, just like pens and notebooks for elementary students.

If you don’t want to buy or learn, then don’t, but it’s odd to escalate it to the school and claim the teacher suggested you buy a pen and notebook, intending to trick the teacher.

The reason sounds ridiculous, and such ridiculous reasoning must have other motives behind it.

But these aren’t what Lu Cheng needs to focus on.

Lu Cheng had just returned to the doctor’s office and sat down when a patient came to the door and asked:

”Dr. Lu, what were you doing just now?”

”I heard people say some police officers came looking for you, is there some misunderstanding? I have friends at the police station.” The speaker was a patient in bed 4, politely asking.

Lu Cheng shook his head after hearing this, ”No, no, it’s just a misunderstanding. Thank you for your concern.”

”I was just asked routine questions, nothing else.”

The middle-aged man chuckled: ”It’s good it was a misunderstanding, I believe with Dr. Lu’s caliber, you’d never get involved in any economic disputes.”

”Your skills are excellent and the charges aren’t expensive, how could you be tempted by such small gains?”

”Are you recovering well? Does it hurt?” Lu Cheng refocused, starting his usual chatter.

”No pain, no pain, all good, my fingers are quite agile now.”

The middle-aged man laughed, ”If it weren’t for Dr. Lu repeatedly advising not to overdo it, I’d think about adjusting the movement range of the orthosis.”

”Don’t adjust, definitely don’t adjust...” Lu Cheng hurriedly shook his head rejecting the patient’s suggestion.

”I’ll listen to Dr. Lu.” The middle-aged man nodded.

He did have some connections, which is why he chose Lu Cheng for surgery instead of going to Orthopedics to see Tong Yuan’an or heading to State People’s Hospital.

...

”Brother Zhang, I’ve thoroughly understood what you meant before!~” Lu Cheng’s mouth curled into a bitter smile, utterly helpless.

While learning the technique himself, he fawned effortlessly over Professor Chen Song, whereas Tian Zhuang remained aloof; Lu Cheng still eagerly guided him, sending over materials, and provided specific pointers.

Yet it ended up like this.

Zhang Tiesheng gritted his teeth: ”I can see it now, Tian Zhuang’s brothers are true leeches!~ Who knows whether he’ll ever escape.”

”I actually hope he can break free and work peacefully. Otherwise, if this goes on, Tian Zhuang’s job will be disrupted by them.”

”Oh, by the way, Xiao Lu!~ Today, we had another patient leave from the operating room.”

”It was an abdominal aortic dissection, General Surgery couldn’t salvage it.” Zhang Tiesheng hurriedly changed the topic to avoid this depressing matter from affecting the mood, providing a lead-in for Lu Cheng to calm down.

”Yeah!~ The mortality rate for aortic dissection is too high, even at Xiangya Hospital there’s a certain mortality rate, it’s normal our hospital couldn’t handle it.”

”It’s inevitable, nothing can be done!~” Lu Cheng nodded.

Professor Chen Song had taken leave to see his mentor, and there’s no one in Long County who can perfectly perform the dissection surgery.

Dissection surgery, the immediate mortality rate in the operating room is sixty-forty, if transferred to State People’s Hospital, it’s basically zero-ten. So General Surgery had no choice but to go all out.

If they die it’s unavoidable, despite the best efforts proving futile.

”If only you, Xiao Lu, could siphon this technique from Professor Chen.” Zhang Tiesheng joked.

Lu Cheng shook his head with a bitter smile: ”For aortic dissection surgery, I’m not even daring to begin learning, let alone mastering it.”

”Brother Zhang, what I can handle now is Spleen Preservation Surgery and Gallbladder Preservation Surgery, can’t even get started on Liver Preservation Surgery.”

”Skills aren’t that easy to learn.”

Zhang Tiesheng replied: ”That’s why I said there’s hope, the significance of our hospital’s existence is it’s affordable.”

”Our technical services are cheap, as long as we provide some basic treatments for patients, it’s enough without being overly meticulous.”

”With your current level in those two surgeries, you can start performing these surgical techniques, no need to pursue higher levels!~”

”It’s still exciting, in the future the number of surgical techniques our department can offer is only increasing.”

Lu Cheng didn’t refute Zhang Tiesheng’s words.

The positioning of the County Hospital is to provide basic diagnostic and treatment services for patients in the county, not relatively advanced treatment techniques.

On the contrary, even the fundamental diagnostic and treatment available now isn’t comprehensive enough.

Let’s make sure some patients have a place to receive care after falling ill! Lu Cheng decided eagerly.

...

After dinner, Zhang Tiesheng went home, and the one taking over the shift, Han Xiaoping, came in carrying a book on Campbell’s hand surgery, reading it seriously.

Lu Cheng was leisurely flipping through the white paper on micro-surgical techniques in Hepatobiliary Surgery.

Lu Cheng had already mastered a certain degree of proficiency in cholecystectomy and splenectomy but needed to perform them openly.

However, nowadays, the mainstream method for these techniques is laparoscopic minimally invasive resection, which is also something worth learning.

If well-mastered, Director Lin Qianlong said he could introduce a new set of laparoscopic equipment to the emergency department for Lu Cheng to perform ”opening” surgery with him.

As Lu Cheng was reading, suddenly a notification flashed:

[Through a special form, activated a certain degree of ’patient’ awareness awakening, enabling the patient to realize their direction, clear-mindedness, earning 1.2 skill points.]

[Through imparting skills and calming the patient’s extreme anxiety, tension, enabling inner peace, certain degree alleviating anxiety and tension, earning 5.7 skill points!]

Upon seeing these two phrases appear, Lu Cheng instinctively thought it was the productive aunt from before.

But upon closer thought, that’s not right, that aunt has already been discharged.

Then where do I still have a ’patient’?

Lu Cheng put down his book, becoming sullen.

After thinking for a while, Lu Cheng considered a ”candidate,” Could it be Brother Wu, Tian Zhuang?

Huh?

Making this guess, Lu Cheng felt even more surprised.

Lu Cheng had never treated Tian Zhuang like a patient, how could it be?

Yet upon further thought, it seemed reasonable.

Tian Zhuang is a student of the new generation, but his character is too candid, candid to the point Lu Cheng almost thought he was pretending.

Reflecting back from the current perspective, perhaps Tian Zhuang’s ’candor’ was also out of helplessness.

No money to manage, how could he handle ’human relations’?

With the messy family affairs, how could he learn ’human relations’ in the department?

Wanting to purchase some practice surgical tools, even triggered a family dispute!

If money were wasted elsewhere, who knows what other consequences would follow.

’Brother Wu’ has awakened?

While Lu Cheng’s thoughts were adrift, he saw Tian Zhuang with a vintage cowboy backpack enter from outside the department, heading towards the doctor’s rest area.

Han Xiaoping, upon hearing about the daytime incident, called out: ”Brother Wu, what are you doing?”

”Staying in the department first, no money to rent a place. After getting my salary next month, I’ll move out.” Tian Zhuang’s tone was light, though still candid in speaking, his expression clearly showed having shed a heavy burden, at least smiling broadly.

Being broke was a reason Han Xiaoping hadn’t anticipated.
