System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

[Independently completed a professional tendon suturing skill... gained 1.6 skill points...]

[Assisted in multiple tendon injuries, bringing functional recovery to the patient, gained 3.1 skill points.]

After the surgery, Lu Cheng confirmed once again that the treatment of multiple tendon injuries does not result in a linear increase in skill points but rather a certain degree of reduction.

Lu Cheng sutured three extensor tendons, and logically it should be 4.2, but inexplicably more than one point was deducted.

[Current skill points balance: 18.5 points.]

It was only 12.1 in the morning, and it’s now 18.5, not even noon yet, and today’s gain has reached 6.4!

It can now be confirmed that the gains in skill points are related to the level of surgery.

Lu Cheng mentally calculated the approximate average gain.

[Manual repositioning: 0.7 points per case, appendectomy: 1.0 point per case, tendon suturing: about 1.2 points per tendon, gallbladder preservation surgery: 3.2 points per case (to be improved), spleen preservation surgery: 3.4 points per case (to be improved).]

[Cholecystectomy: 1.5 points per case; splenectomy: 1.3 points per case...]

”What are you grinning about? Let’s go.” Tong Yuan’an saw Lu Cheng dazing off and patted Lu Cheng’s shoulder, signaling him that he could leave.

”Professor Tong, I’m waiting to leave with you. I’m happy because you’ve taught well, so I feel I have a little presence in clinical practice now.” Lu Cheng responded earnestly.

Skill points must be earned by genuinely bringing healing to patients and relieving their pain; otherwise, one can’t even get on the operating table.

”You’re still young, so learning these minor surgeries feels fulfilling, and performing a few surgeries gives you a sense of accomplishment, which is great.” Tong Yuan’an looked at Lu Cheng’s happy expression, both envious and filled with emotion.

But actually, tendon suturing is really just an entry-level condition in hand surgery.

For example, hand deformity reconstruction, finger replantation, tendon transfer, nerve transfer, and functional reconstruction—those are the true hand surgery operations.

The tendon suturing Lu Cheng performed is something that the hand surgery department at Xiangya Hospital doesn’t directly handle. It’s just that small doctors may hastily perform a few cases during their residency to practice.

As for splenectomy and spleen preservation surgery, they are surgeries typical of emergency general surgery.

For instance, gallbladder tumors, liver tumors, etc., are the true surgical techniques of hepatobiliary surgery, and there are even more advanced operations whose full names even Tong Yuan’an doesn’t know...

But Chen Song had told him about Lu Cheng’s situation, so Tong Yuan’an didn’t want to discourage him.

It’s truly unfortunate that Lu Cheng’s talent is being wasted at this age. He still hasn’t reached the threshold of research, no matter how strong his professional skills might be, he’s just a technical conveyor.

How does Hua Country rely on its own strength in medicine, its self-confidence in the pharmaceutical industry?

By learning from others?

Wake up, mastering foreign techniques and using them to defeat foreign influence has long been proven wrong. History has shown that only innovation can lead to revival, not walking down others’ old paths.

However, being a good technical conveyor is also enough for Lu Cheng to experience being a good doctor throughout his life, at least to relieve the patients’ pain.

But he might not experience the heartfelt desire to rescue people from despair and absolute suffering.

When some people have nowhere to turn, have no way to seek medical help, are waiting to die, and with such piercing eyes before him, Lu Cheng would also regret not having studied more when needed...

Tong Yuan’an was invited as a ’rescue’ to handle ’vascular suturing’ that Lu Cheng couldn’t deal with. After it was finished, Tong Yuan’an, of course, returned.

Lu Cheng was on duty, so Zhang Tiesheng was responsible for Tong Yuan’an’s lunch.

Lu Cheng transferred a thousand yuan to Zhang Tiesheng, which Zhang Tiesheng returned, messaging: ”Xiao Lu, are you looking down on your brother?”

”Inviting Professor Tong for a meal is also about my personal connections. If you pay, you’re leaving your Brother Zhang nowhere to save face in the future, aren’t you?”

Lu Cheng explained: ”Brother Zhang, no, mainly because you and Professor Tong were both whom I called for help, inviting you two for a meal is just normal courtesy, Brother Zhang, don’t break the rules...”

Zhang Tiesheng said: ”Then I really have to break it, maybe next time, alright...”

Zhang Tiesheng didn’t linger on it too much either. The benefits Lu Cheng now brings to the department are far greater than before.

In August, Zhang Tiesheng’s performance has already reached over 6000, comfortably bringing it to ten thousand in hand, and Lu Cheng surely has about twelve to thirteen thousand, but Lu Cheng is getting the chief surgeon performance pay, without him, there wouldn’t be this income, it’s something to be envious of.

Lu Cheng has significantly increased Zhang Tiesheng’s income, so clearly, Zhang Tiesheng was ”convinced”...

”Dr. Lu, how is my wife’s surgery?” After returning to the ward, the husband of the lady quickly approached to ask Lu Cheng.

Lu Cheng immediately put away his phone and said: ”Everything went smoothly, now we just need to monitor the post-surgery blood circulation.”

”I’m on duty today, so I’ll come by more often, but you must also pay attention to the points I mentioned before surgery.”

”If there’s any numbness, swelling, or purpling, be sure to inform us, no matter when you spot them.”

”The risk with these finger vascular injuries is in the twenty-four hours post-surgery, as vascular issues can determine whether the finger can survive; it can’t be taken lightly...”

”Of course, during surgery, we evaluated in detail, and the current circulation is very good, we’re just concerned about localized hematoma compressing the vessels post-surgery.” Lu Cheng explained in detail.

”Yes, yes, that’s good, I’m relieved the surgery went smoothly.” The middle-aged man took a deep breath.

”In fact, several patients in the ward said Dr. Lu, your skills are excellent, and that we shouldn’t worry, but naturally, my wife’s situation is different.”

”Initially, when you said you couldn’t handle it, it really scared us.” The middle-aged man said.

Lu Cheng said: ”My apologies, Uncle, my capabilities are indeed limited. If it weren’t for Professor Tong this time, I really couldn’t handle it.”

As Lu Cheng was speaking, Lin Lang’s loud voice carried over from the nurse’s station: ”Lu Cheng, Du Daihua in the consultation room is looking for you. He has patients and can’t leave.”

”Uncle, I need to run over there.” Lu Cheng quickly nodded in apology and then hurried away.

”It’s alright, Dr. Lu, you go ahead...” The middle-aged man was in the Emergency Department too, so he understood Lu Cheng’s rush.

Passing by the nurse’s station, Lu Cheng looked at the sturdy 170-pound, more robust-armed Sister Lang and asked, ”Xiao Lang, what’s up?”

”There’s a bunch of patients over there, I need to execute medical orders here, and Sister Duoduo went to administer injections; there are quite a lot of patients under observation today, just the cases of gastroenteritis are almost seven or eight.” Lin Lang said.

Tian Duoduo is a nurse practitioner, Lin Lang is a nurse! Although Lin Lang is hefty, she’s actually quite young, only twenty-four, two years younger than Tian Duoduo.

”Oh, got it...” Getting no further information, Lu Cheng directly headed to the consultation room.

Upon seeing Lu Cheng, Du Daihua said: ”Brother Lu, can you take a look at this fracture patient?”

”I called the Orthopedics Department, Dr. Xiang still suggests the patient should directly go to the ward...”

The Emergency Department has called Orthopedics for consultation. They wouldn’t dare not give advice, except Peng Kun wouldn’t come personally during his shifts; recently, most suggestions have been to go directly to the ward.

”Alright, I’ll first do a physical examination of the patient...” Lu Cheng said calmly.
