System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

September 11th, Friday, the sun is bright.

Lu Cheng lifted the corner of the quilt, and the warm sun outside did not pierce through but slanted in from the edge...

This proves that the designer of this neighborhood has some problems; it’s not aligned in the standard north-south direction.

Lu Cheng got up and sent a late voice message to Director Lin Qianlong: ”Director Lin, Professor Chen said he needs to take a leave today. After lunch here, he needs to go back to Sha City for a bit.”

”I’m on duty today, so I can’t make it. Could you help find a place to arrange lunch for Professor Chen Song...”

It was only after September 10th had almost passed that Lu Cheng realized that you can’t just randomly celebrate a Teacher’s Day dinner.

Who you can eat with and who you can’t are things that need to be considered.

For a Teacher’s Day dinner, it’s usually the boss treating subordinates, colleagues within the group, and students. There’s not much attendance by family members yet.

Even family members can’t be brought along, so what are Chen Song and Lin Qianlong doing eating together?

When Chen Song goes back, if Lin Qianlong asks for a favor, he might hesitate and not reject it outright.

Of course, today is Friday, and Tong Yuan’an and Chen Song are taking leave to go back because it’s Teacher’s Day, and they need to ’report’ to their mentors!

If Teacher’s Day is on a weekday, the dinner is usually postponed to the weekend, a non-working day.

”Lu Cheng, what were you doing yesterday?” Lin Qianlong replied with a smile. He couldn’t figure out why Chen Song and Tong Yuan’an were both taken down by Lu Cheng alone.

And they were really drunk, in that ’unexpectedly’ way.

Lu Cheng explained: ”Director Lin, it’s like this. Yesterday, Professor Chen and Professor Tong started ’going at it,’ and I was accompanying them the whole time.”

”Four bottles of liquor, four kilos, a little over a kilo per person... The rest, I’ll pick up later...”

As Lu Cheng said this, his tone became a bit conflicted: ”Director Lin, the two professors were having such a good time drinking, if I had tried to stop them, they would have said I was reluctant to part with the alcohol!”

Lu Cheng actually felt a bit of a pinch for spending over ten thousand yuan just to legitimately cover for Chen Song and Tong Yuan’an’s dinner.

His parents had saved, probably not even having ten thousand for six months of living expenses.

”That’s not right!~” Lin Qianlong didn’t blame Lu Cheng but said: ”It’s just that Xiao Lu, your ability to persuade people to drink is impressive, being able to take down two professors.”

”Great capability and ability, worth acknowledging!~”

Lin Qianlong praised him from that end.

Come to think of it, someone like Chen Song won’t easily get drunk in front of ordinary people, not to mention being in a place far away and still a person of some standing?

...

Lu Cheng had just ridden his e-bike into the emergency department when he heard Professor Chen Song’s ’indignant’ voice: ”Xiao Lu is a real troublemaker. Yesterday, he stirred things up between me and Tong Yuan’an.”

”While stirring, we both got carried away, you one drink, me one drink, before we knew it, more than a kilo had gone down.”

Chen Song’s confused words were mostly true with some falsehoods.

Lu Cheng indeed stirred things up, stirred them up quite a bit, the two nearly got into a fight, but it wasn’t about encouraging them to drink!~

Mostly true with a bit of falsehood makes it very believable to outsiders.

Director Lin Qianlong and Brother Zhang Tiesheng smiled and said, ”Professor Chen, it’s your own partiality, raising a parasite yourself.”

”Now when it backfires, isn’t it something you were happy to do?”

Zhang Tiesheng, being smart, saw Lu Cheng and quickly beckoned: ”Lu Cheng, come over here, Professor Chen has a lot of opinions about you and has complained to Director Lin!~”

Lu Cheng immediately jogged over in front of Chen Song: ”I’m sorry, Teacher Chen, I drank quite a bit yesterday too, so maybe I wasn’t careful with my words.”

Lu Cheng’s words were also very true, but others couldn’t grasp the meaning within!

”Since you know your mistake, punish yourself next time.”

”Oh, by the way, wasn’t there some wine we didn’t take?” Chen Song suddenly remembered to ask.

Lu Cheng replied: ”Yes, Teacher Chen, but I called this morning, it’s stored at the shop.”

Director Lin Qianlong looked at the time and said, ”Lu Cheng, solve your breakfast today by yourself, I’ve arranged with Professor Chen to go have dumplings up there.”

”Zhang Tiesheng...”

Zhang Tiesheng immediately took out his phone and quickly said: ”Isn’t it because you and Teacher Chen haven’t really left yet, I didn’t dare to order recklessly, afraid that if you and Teacher Lin got upset at me later, I wouldn’t be prioritizing honoring you and Teacher Chen!”

”Director Lin, are you sure you’re going out to eat?”

”Let’s go!~” Lin Qianlong and Chen Song had already walked out.

Zhang Tiesheng already knew well Lu Cheng’s taste, quickly ordered two bowls of noodles, and four portions, stood up agilely, and said: ”Let’s go, Brother Lu, why don’t you take me to check out some rooms?”

Lu Cheng followed behind Zhang Tiesheng: ”Brother Zhang, you’ve become deputy director now... it’s you leading me for sure.”

Zhang Tiesheng’s deputy senior examination results had come out, he had passed, just waiting for the hospital’s appointment.

”What use is being a deputy director? Didn’t Director Xiang get pushed by you, Xiao Lu, into signing up for several training courses?”

”I heard he spent forty thousand on three short courses, and now he obediently comes to the emergency department on every alternate day for fracture manipulation.”

Zhang Tiesheng gave Lu Cheng a thumbs up: ”Redefining for the deputy director physicians, Xiao Lu, you’re impressive!~”

Zhang Tiesheng whispered in Lu Cheng’s ear: ”Xiang Kuihua privately told me, before getting to know fracture manipulation, he thought you were just fooling around.”

”Afterward, he realized you were a genius. And said your orthopedic director Peng Haibo doesn’t treat people right!~”

”To protect his son’s position, he deliberately kept you in the dark, is that true...”

Lu Cheng paused and replied indirectly: ”Brother Zhang, do you know why I disagree with emergency patients transitioning to specialized referrals on their own?”

Zhang Tiesheng’s expression was a bit unnatural, but he remained enthusiastic: ”Xiao Lu, you must have your reasons.”

The referral of emergency department patients to specialists is too common.

The county hospitals, especially.

”During my previous training at Zhongnan Hospital, this happened once; a patient died during the transition, it was a provincial leader’s daughter!”

”The vice director of the emergency department, the deputy director of the orthopedic trauma department, the attending resident were all immediately dismissed and recorded a big demerit, entering their file.”

”The attending doctor of the trauma clinic!~”

Lu Cheng glanced at Zhang Tiesheng: ”His doctoral thesis was found problematic, and if not for such a detailed check, the problem wouldn’t have shown.”

”The doctoral degree was temporarily revoked, and Zhongnan Hospital unilaterally terminated the contract; I heard two years ago he was still making up experiments for his doctoral thesis defense!~”

”The orthopedic resident also got caught in academic fraud.”

Doctoral thesis defense, if they let you pass easily, you can defend successfully, but if they want to make it difficult, and it’s a doctoral defense... you’d better hope you have genuine skills and very solid research output, and can produce very professional scientific output...

Otherwise, you might be trapped within the system for much of your lifetime!

Because final defense doesn’t have an objective standard.

Zhang Tiesheng said seriously, ”Yeah, I get it!~ Still, you’re cautious.

Lu Cheng smiled and said: ”Brother Zhang, it’s not that I’m cautious, it’s just that I’ve seen the high cost of trial and error!”

”Fortunately, I’m not in charge of the emergency room shifts; otherwise, there would be more people to offend.”
