System Came When the Doctor was Thirty

August 10th! Monday, the start of the week.

However, Lu Cheng took leave and rode his scooter to the ’dormitory’ where Chen Song and Tong Yuan’an were!

Tong Yuan’an gave Lu Cheng his room number, so Lu Cheng took the elevator straight up and knocked on the door.

As soon as the door opened, Lu Cheng noticed that the Training Room in Tong Yuan’an’s home was professionally equipped, far surpassing his own Training Room.

A standard surgical table a meter long and two meters wide, a microscopic lens, a complete set of brand-new microsurgical instruments, and various models of hand surgery practice sutures.

The value of these sutures alone is at least 8000 yuan, with each one priced at a dozen yuan per piece.

The sutures Lu Cheng usually buys for practice, the most expensive is only three yuan each, anything more would be too extravagant...

A small shadowless lamp, fresh pig trotters...

Lu Cheng eyed these treasures enviously, swallowing his saliva: ”Teacher Tong... this is impressive...”

”These were purchased with funding for renovations, in order to conduct the project. Naturally, many basic things need to be well prepared, and eventually, these items can be taken away.”

”You came at just the right time. I’ve already prepared pig tendons early this morning, they’re all hind tendons, and I’ve bought the hand surgery professional measurement instruments, they’re arriving today, so we can start measuring...”

”Such surgical procedures must undergo preliminary animal experiments to gather data, even if there’s a medical dispute, we can silence the expert panel by proving that we’ve practiced diligently with objective data on record.”

”If there are issues with the patient’s sutures, it’s a matter of objective risk, rather than our skills being inadequate or insufficient preparation beforehand.”

Tong Yuan’an wore loose pajamas and had already set the air conditioner to the right temperature.

Seeing the sweat on Lu Cheng’s face, he said: ”Xiao Lu, you should freshen up a bit first. Practice with specimens should be treated as serious surgery. Preparing physically is also very important.”

”Alright, Teacher Tong, I’ll wash my face.” Although Lu Cheng rode over, August felt as though it were going crazy, with heat waves crashing.

Lu Cheng wasn’t overweight, but he was still drenched in sweat.

After cooling down for twenty minutes, Tong Yuan’an and Lu Cheng had two cups of coffee, and with their physical and mental energy ready at their peak, their condition reached its best.

They walked from the living room toward the operating room again.

Tong Yuan’an said: ”The Tajima Suturing Technique you’ve learned is the control group, but you also need to perform seriously. This technique is used for our patients.”

”A doctor’s skill in clinical practice knows no nationality, so you can’t overdo it, the more skilled the better...”

”Even if our project fails, the patients are still getting benefits. Understood?”

After listening, Lu Cheng nodded slightly and looked at his own ’Skill Point balance: 42 points’.

Due to the increased number of surgeries, Lu Cheng now accumulated Skill Points daily at an average rate of six points over the past week.

This is roughly his weekly Skill Point accumulation.

[Unnamed Suturing Technique (skilled 10/10)]

Lu Cheng suddenly had a thought, and it quickly transformed into [Unnamed Suturing Technique (Specialization 10/20) (Skill Points -30), has reached the basic skill cap in Suturing Skill, cannot be increased further.]

[Skill Point balance: 12.3!]

Lu Cheng proceeded to allocate points bit by bit!

Half a minute later!

[Suturing Skills: Suturing Skill (Specialization 14/20) (Skill Points -3), Tendon Suturing Skill (Specialization 13/20) (Skill Points -5), Modified Kessler Suturing Method (skilled 10/10), Tsuge Suturing Skill (including sliding type) (skilled 10/10), Modified Tang Method (Specialization 3/20), Unnamed Tendon Suturing Technique (Specialization 14/20) (Skill Points -4)]

Yes, this was the limit Lu Cheng could reach.

”Are you ready?” Tong Yuan’an asked Lu Cheng.

Lu Cheng nodded: ”Ready, Teacher Tong.”

”Then start suturing... Once you’re done, I’ll use our hospital’s new suturing technique, and then we’ll measure and compare the tensile strength of these tendons.” Tong Yuan’an gestured with his plump hand, signaling Lu Cheng to start.

Lu Cheng nodded.

Since this was not an official operating room, just wearing sterile gloves was enough for operations, there was no need to wear a sterile surgical gown.

Lu Cheng’s suturing technique was visibly at a very skilled level, aligning with Tong Yuan’an’s expectations for Lu Cheng’s learning speed.

So after watching for a few moments, he stepped out.

Suturing is a very private task, since it wasn’t surgery, no assistant was needed, allowing Lu Cheng to concentrate more.

Lu Cheng roughly finished suturing five pig trotters, then swapped places with Tong Yuan’an, he stayed in the living room responsible for tea-drinking, while Tong Yuan’an remained in the operating room focused on ’new technique’ suturing.

After approximately forty minutes, Tong Yuan’an came out from the ”operating room” door holding tweezers: ”Xiao Lu, I’m done. You might be curious about how to evaluate core biomechanics, right?”

”Come in, let’s study together.”

In Tong Yuan’an’s eyes, Lu Cheng’s talent was already that of a professional hand surgeon. If it weren’t for the project task, he would have taught Lu Cheng other hand surgery techniques a long time ago.

Of course, Lu Cheng’s talent is going to be of great use and must be utilized immediately.

Lu Cheng entered.

Tong Yuan’an explained: ”The core biomechanical indicators of hand surgery suturing techniques lie in tensile strength, end gap control, and gliding resistance.”

”Generally speaking, for current tendon suturing techniques, post-operative immediate tensile strength should be ≥35N, end gap should be ≤0.5mm under 0.5N load, and vinculum friction force should be ≤1.5N, allowing it to be showcased.”

”Going into live subjects testing.”

”Look here, these are the five pig tendon sutures I did, and the tensile strength limit has exceeded 90N...”

”The Modified Kessler’s tensile strength is approximately 40-55N, Tsuge Suturing Technique is between 65-85N, while Modified Tang Method is 90-110N.”

”The Modified Tang Method’s fracture tensile strength is 150.25±10.50 N, while Modified Tsuge Suturing Technique is 125.3±11.5 N.”

”Our team’s fracture tensile strength is!” Tong Yuan’an directly broke the tendon suture...

”With calculations like this, tendon resilience is 14N/mm, higher than the Modified Tang Method...”

”Let’s continue measuring, then calculate the average results.”

Tong Yuan’an explained professionally and meticulously to Lu Cheng, finally entering the data into the statistical table he prepared, deriving a comprehensive conclusion:

[2mm Gap Tensile Strength: Tong Method: 108.40±7.52N; Modified Tang Method: 100.30±8.20 N; Modified Tsuge Method: 52.6±7.4 N]

[Fracture Tensile Strength: Tong Method: 166.31±11.50 N; Modified Tang Method: 150.25±10.50 N; Modified Tsuge Method: 125.3±11.5 N]

[Tendon Resilience: Tong Method: 14.21±1.34N/mm; Modified Tang Method: 12.55±1.25 N/mm; Modified Tsuge Method: 8.3±1.8 N/mm]

”How about it, your teacher Tong still has some skills, right?” After reading the table, Tong Yuan’an asked Lu Cheng with a kind and gentle expression.

Lu Cheng nodded: ”Yes.”

”Alright, next we’ll assess yours.”

”2mm Gap Tensile Strength: 100, 110, 126, 119... hmm... 120N.”

Tong Yuan’an glanced at Lu Cheng: ”Fracture Tensile Strength: 160, 180, 195N...”

After looking at these two sets of data, Tong Yuan’an immediately fell silent, his complexion dramatically changed, and his plump face seemed contorted, filled with complex emotions.
