Super Gene Hunting Ground

Wanyan He led Yang Xiao out of the main hall, walking toward a distant building.

”Yang Xiao, in the Imperial College, there is only the relationship between mentor and student, no hierarchy or distinction in status. You are new here, and must follow the rules within the college. Otherwise, if you violate the college’s rules, you will face either punishment or expulsion. Do you understand?”

Yang Xiao nodded and said:

”I understand. Most people here are from the Royal Family, with influential backgrounds. If every student uses their family background and official position to educate others, how can mentors teach the students? If mentors cannot strictly guide the students, it will inevitably affect the students’ cultivation results significantly.”

”Hmm, as long as you understand. Even my current identity as the heir to the throne is just an ordinary student at the Imperial College. My mentors train me without much leniency. Most of the elders and mentors at the college are from the Royal Family, and many are my seniors.”

The two continued talking as they arrived at the Law Enforcement Hall.

The elder of the Law Enforcement Hall was named Wanyan Cuo, whom Yang Xiao had actually seen in the main hall earlier. However, according to the admission procedures, Yang Xiao, as a newcomer, had to pay his respects specifically once more.

”Disciple Yang Xiao pays respects to the elder of the Law Enforcement Hall.”

Yang Xiao knelt on the ground and kowtowed to the elder of the Law Enforcement Hall.

Wanyan Cuo’s face was stern, and he nodded slightly, saying:

”Yang Xiao, the Imperial College only recognizes the identities of students and mentors. Regardless of what your identity is outside the college, here, you are just a student. You must not break the rules. Do you understand?”

”Thank you for your guidance, I understand as a student.”

Wanyan Cuo instructed him a few sentences, then said:

”Yang Xiao, this is the Jade Token for entering and exiting the Imperial College; it’s also the key to enter the Cultivation Hall. Keep it well. My instructions here are finished; you may go to the Cultivation Hall now.”

”Yes, thank you, Elder.”

Wanyan He led Yang Xiao away from the Law Enforcement Hall, heading toward the distant Cultivation Hall.

”Yang Xiao, the most important place in the Imperial College is the Cultivation Hall. You will spend most of your time in the Cultivation Hall, which is open 24 hours a day, allowing cultivation at any moment.”

Wanyan He skillfully led Yang Xiao to pay respects to the elder of the Cultivation Hall, Wanyan Fei.

”Disciple Yang Xiao pays respects to the elder.”

Wanyan Fei, a white-bearded old man, looked at Yang Xiao coldly, then said:

”Yang Xiao, I won’t instruct you much on other matters, just one thing: in cultivating the Flying Leopard Divine Skill, seventy percent depends on talent and thirty percent on diligence. Do not force things, go with the flow.”

Yang Xiao was momentarily stunned and asked:

”I have a question, Elder: according to your experience, how long does it take for someone with good talent to break through from the Empire Middle Level Realm to the Emperor Level Realm?”

Wanyan Fei glanced at Yang Xiao and said indifferently:

”The Flying Leopard Divine Skill is a Genetic Evolution Method created by our Wanyan Royal Family over millennia. It was due to this method that the Wanyan Clan produced Emperor Level Evolvers, enabling the establishment of the Flying Leopard Empire,

although the Flying Leopard Divine Skill can help those with high Genetic Evolution Talent evolve to the Emperor Level Realm, it cannot guarantee every cultivator to break through to the Emperor Level Realm,

I have presided over the Cultivation Hall for over sixty years, and only five people have managed to break through to the Emperor Level Realm; even I am only at the Empire Level Peak now, unable to overcome the bottleneck,

do you understand what I’m saying?”

”Thank you for your teachings, Elder. I understand.”

”Hmm, with the Identity Jade of the Imperial College you can freely access the Book Collection Pavilion and Cultivation Room in the Cultivation Hall. The details will be taken care of by the Prince.”

The Eldest Prince Wanyan He immediately said:

”Don’t worry, Elder Fei, I will guide Yang Xiao.”

”Alright, you may leave now. The Flying Leopard Divine Skill Secret Manual Room in the Book Collection Pavilion is ready, take Yang Xiao to learn the Flying Leopard Divine Skill immediately,

additionally, if you have any questions about daily cultivation, you can ask your mentors or come to inquire from me.”

”Thank you, Elder.”

Yang Xiao and Wanyan He left the elder’s room.

Yang Xiao said to Wanyan He:

”Brother He, you have been cultivating the Flying Leopard Divine Skill for more than a year now, do you have any insights?”

Wanyan He shook his head and smiled wryly:

”Brother Yang, you still don’t know me well, my Genetic Evolution Talent is average, no matter how hard I try, the effect is minimal. According to Elder Fei, if I can break through to the Empire Level Advanced realm within five years, it would be impressive.”

”That slow?”

The two entered the Book Collection Pavilion of the Cultivation Hall, encountering some students along the way, most of whom stopped to greet Wanyan He, given his status as the heir to the throne.

Owing to the rules of the Imperial College, Wanyan He hasn’t been at the Imperial College for long, and his status is merely that of a junior disciple, so everyone usually greets him:

”Hello, Brother He!”

Wanyan He politely responds to each greeting.

The Flying Leopard Emperor allowed Wanyan He to enter the Gold Medal Guard Team for cultivation with another purpose in mind. Although Wanyan He’s Genetic Evolution Talent is average, here he can get acquainted with many talented people, and his daily cultivation allows him to build good relations with the future elite of the Empire, so they can assist the Eldest Prince in his future rule.

The Book Collection Pavilion is much smaller than the library at Flying Leopard Academy, with only two floors.

The first floor contains books for ordinary students’ cultivation; the Flying Leopard Divine Skill Secret Manual Yang Xiao needs to cultivate is in a special room on the second floor.

The two arrive on the second floor, and Wanyan He stands at the entrance of a special room, saying to Yang Xiao:

”Yang Xiao, this room is specially designated for storing the Flying Leopard Divine Skill Secret Manual. You can use the Jade Token in your hand to open this room. Remember, you only have one chance to enter this room, and the time limit is 2 hours.

In the center of the room, there’s a table with a golden box on it. Open the box, and inside there’s a Memory Jade Pendant.

Hold the Memory Jade Plate in your palm and activate your Genetic Evolution Ability, and the information within the Jade Plate will automatically enter your mind.”

”And then?”

”And then? There’s no ’then’. To prevent students from privately leaking the Flying Leopard Divine Skill, this Cultivation Technique has been set up as a secret, automatic cultivation method.

Once you absorb the Flying Leopard Divine Skill cultivation heart method encoded in the Memory Jade Plate, it will exist in your subconscious, but you won’t be able to explain the operation of the Flying Leopard Technique, nor teach it to others.”

Yang Xiao is surprised,

”Is it really that simple? Then what are we supposed to cultivate?”

Wanyan He laughs:

”You’re wrong. Although your subconscious already possesses the heart method of the Flying Leopard Divine Skill, you must execute specialized cultivation methods to activate the operation of the Flying Leopard Divine Skill within you.

In other words, this Flying Leopard Divine Skill is divided into two parts for confidentiality: the external cultivation and the internal heart method.

As far as I know, the Great Dragon Empire’s Marrow Cleansing Technique is the same, and so too is the Youming Empire.”

Yang Xiao nods, takes out the Imperial College Identity Jade, and inserts it into the Defense Light Screen at the room’s entrance.

The Defense Light Screen fluctuates, slowly opening an entrance.

Yang Xiao walks in, and the Defense Light Screen closes instantly. Then, he uses the Jade Token to open the door inside the room.

He pushes the door open and walks inside.

The room is very clean, dust-free, and bright. Two lamps emit brilliant light.

In the center of the room is a square table with a golden box on it.

Yang Xiao picks up the box and gently opens it, revealing a faintly glowing black Jade Plate inside.

”Indeed, just as Wanyan He said. But since it’s so simple and doesn’t take much time, why allocate two hours?”

”If the heart method can only operate through subconsciousness, it’s certainly compromised. If one could actively memorize the heart method of the Flying Leopard Divine Skill and constantly ponder its insights, wouldn’t the cultivation effect be better?”

Yang Xiao does not rush to learn the skills from the Memory Jade Plate but returns it to the box and carefully observes the box containing the Jade Plate.

The golden box is made of Jade and must have been placed on this table for many years.

A Flying Leopard pattern is carved atop the box’s lid.

Yang Xiao has seen the Second Prince Wanyan Ying’s Beast Soul, a Flying Leopard, which closely resembles the Flying Leopard carved on the box.

The tabletop is clean, without any clutter.

The room is spacious, besides a small bookshelf against one wall, holding dozens of ancient books and Jade Plates; there’s nothing else in the room.

Yang Xiao feels inspired and walks over to the bookshelf, casually picking up a book to flip through. It’s filled with the history of the origin of the Flying Leopard Divine Skill, the development of the Wanyan Family, and accounts of which clan members cultivated the Flying Leopard Divine Skill to break through to the Emperor Level Realm.

Yang Xiao briefly flips through, finding the contents largely similar, focusing on Flying Leopard Divine Skill cultivators from various periods and narrating the stories of these Emperor Level Realm super experts, motivating later generations to take these predecessors as examples and endeavor to cultivate and contribute to protecting the Flying Leopard Empire.

”It’s strange why these books are placed here. They could be placed outside in the library for everyone to read leisurely and learn about the glorious history of the Wanyan Royal Family.”

Yang Xiao feels there’s plenty of time, so he goes through the dozen or so books on the bookshelf one by one. When he reaches the last book, he hears a ”clack” sound, as if something has fallen from within.

Yang Xiao is startled and focuses on the floor to find an object lying there.

Yang Xiao picks it up and sees it’s a Flying Leopard-shaped ornament.

”Huh, strange, how did a Flying Leopard model ornament end up in this book?”
