Super Gene Hunting Ground

Yang Xiao struck down the unconscious head of the Fire Wolf Empire’s Chess Institute, Su Xiao, with a single sword, shocking the more than two hundred people present.

Each of them gaped in awe at Yang Xiao.

Yang Xiao sheathed his sword, placed it into his space ring, and said indifferently:

”Everyone can testify that Su Xiao gambled his life with me over a game that ended in a draw, but he lost. Therefore, I killed him; there’s nothing wrong with that, right?”

Wanyan Hong and Wanyan He immediately said:

”Su Xiao brought his demise upon himself. Yang brother can’t be blamed. Everyone present can testify to that.”

The onlookers saw that Su Xiao was already dead, and the board indeed showed that Su Xiao had lost to Yang Xiao. Naturally, no one would speak for a dead man.

Everyone echoed:

”The wager was proposed by Su Xiao himself. Now that he lost, he should fulfill the bet.”

”Su Xiao lost in Go, so he should pay with his life.”

”Prince Yang claiming Su Xiao’s life according to the wager is perfectly reasonable.”

...

Yang Xiao smiled slightly and turned his gaze to Long Aotian among the crowd, saying:

”Prince, you are the one in charge of this Go tournament. Do you have any opinions?”

Although Long Aotian wasn’t pleased internally, he had to say:

”Su Xiao brought his demise upon himself. Prince Yang is not at fault.”

”Good, since the Prince and everyone can testify, I’m reassured.”

At this point, all the matches had already ended.

Someone spoke:

”Prince Ao Tian, now that the tournament is over, shouldn’t the results be announced?”

Long Aotian coughed twice, turned to exchange opinions with Long Jing beside him, then loudly said:

”Everyone, thank you for coming to Dragon City for the Go tournament. After several days of intense, friendly competition, this tournament has concluded all matches.

We still need to tally the results, and the top three will be announced tomorrow morning.

At that time, my father, the Emperor of Great Dragon, will personally come out to award the top three, everyone should come to the Chess Institute at nine tomorrow morning.”

Upon hearing this, the crowd began to disperse slowly.

.....

Many greeted Yang Xiao, trying to get acquainted.

”Yang brother, let’s have dinner together tonight, my treat.”

”Yang brother, come visit our Flying Deer Kingdom for a few days when you have time, I’ll accompany you all the way. Our kingdom has many beautiful women, you’ll be satisfied.”

”Yang Leader, your Go skills are truly admirable. I have a superb chessboard and wish to give it to Yang brother; I hope you’ll accept it.”

....

Yang Xiao generally just smiled and politely declined these people.

So, they turned to Wanyan He and Wanyan Hong, hoping to make connections with Yang Xiao through them.

Wanyan He and Wanyan Hong also seemed helpless, barely handling the crowd.

Finally, the three walked out of the Chess Institute’s door briskly.

The three didn’t go directly back to the Royal Inn but went to a restaurant in Dragon City and ordered a private room with a set of dishes.

Wanyan He raised his wine glass excitedly and said:

”Yang brother, congratulations on winning the championship, and congratulations to the institute head for taking second place.”

Wanyan Hong laughed:

”This second place was given by Yang brother, not won by real skill.”

Yang Xiao said:

”With Su Xiao dead, Bai Ming naturally becomes the third place, and your second place is well-deserved; I only let you win one game; the rest were won by your real skill. Come, cheers!”

The three clinked glasses and drank it all.

Wanyan He couldn’t contain his curiosity and asked:

”Yang Xiao, I’ve always wondered, Su Xiao was very familiar with the game positions he set up; why did he lose to you so badly?”

Yang Xiao chuckled and said:

”Su Xiao was too clever for his own good.”

”How so?”

”You’ve known me long enough; you should know which planet I come from, right?”

”Hmm? You come from Earth. What does that have to do with Su Xiao’s match?”

”Then do you know where Su Xiao’s Go endgame positions come from?”

”Ah?”

”If I’m not mistaken, the Go positions and knowledge on Witch Star originate from Earth, and Su Xiao’s Go endgame positions also come from Earth.

What Su Xiao considered intricate and deep was, in my view, rather ordinary.

You know, when he set up that endgame, I laughed internally because I learned it when I was a teenager; the moves with the black and white pieces were already second nature to me.

Su Xiao actually used this position to play against me and even staked his life; wasn’t he just courting death?”

Wanyan He: ”...”

Wanyan Hong: ”...”

The two gaped at Yang Xiao, finally sighed, and shook their heads.

”Su Xiao died unjustly!”

Yang Xiao laughed heartily and said:

”If Su Xiao hadn’t been clever and accepted defeat properly, even if he lost, it wouldn’t have been so tragic. Hence, he was too clever for his own good.

I killed him not because he lost the game but because he colluded with Long Aotian, intending to use the Go tournament to take my life. That sword was a warning to Long Aotian.”

...

After hearing Long Aotian’s report on the tournament results, the Great Dragon Emperor’s expression was solemn. After a moment of silence, he said:

”This Yang Xiao is truly formidable, not only excelling in Go, possessing strong spiritual power, but also ruthless and decisive. If he continues to grow and breaks through to Emperor Level Realm one day, he will definitely be a formidable enemy to us.”

”Yang Xiao is unlikely to break through to Emperor Level. Without the Genetic Evolution Technique, it will be difficult for him.”

”What if the Flying Leopard Emperor recruits Yang Xiao into the royal elite guard and imparts the Flying Leopard Divine Skill to him?”

”Father, by your reasoning, should we kill Yang Xiao and ensure he doesn’t escape Dragon City? Otherwise, the consequences will be endless.”

The Great Dragon Emperor nodded and said:

”After the tournament officially ends tomorrow, invite the top three players to the Royal Palace as guests. Then find a chance to kill Yang Xiao. This time, I will personally act to avenge Long Kui and the War God; Yang Xiao must not leave Dragon City alive.”

”Father, what if the Flying Leopard Empire and Youming Empire claim we killed Yang Xiao and attack us with the Alliance Army?”

”We can’t afford to worry about that. Yang Xiao must be eliminated. Otherwise, if he breaks through to Emperor Level and seeks revenge for the billions we massacred on Earth, the blood feud will be inevitable.

Besides, we and the Flying Leopard Empire, Youming Empire, are all Witch Star compatriots. I believe that once Yang Xiao is dead, the Flying Leopard Emperor won’t be impulsive enough to fight to the death over Yang Xiao.”

”Father is wise. I’ll arrange troops to surround the Chess Institute immediately; after announcing the tournament results tomorrow, we’ll bring Yang Xiao and the other two top players to the Royal Palace. Yang Xiao must come; if he refuses, I’ll bring him by force.”
