”Are you looking for Yang Xiao?”

Wanyan He probably knew something about the matters between Yang Xiao and Long Jing. He was somewhat aware of what happened after the match between Yang Xiao and Long Jing at the Flying Leopard Academy last time.

Wanyan He seemed to understand something, and immediately said:

”Princess Jing, please wait a moment.”

After speaking, he turned his head and shouted into the room:

”Brother Yang, someone is looking for you.”

Yang Xiao and two others were staying in a suite, playing chess with Wanyan Hong in the inner room, so they had already heard the conversation between Long Jing and Wanyan He.

Wanyan Hong chuckled and said:

”Brother Yang, a beauty has come looking for you.”

The two stopped playing chess and came out together.

Long Jing, wearing a purple long dress and with unsurpassed beauty and noble temperament, stood in the corridor at the door, attracting the curious glances of people from the nearby guest rooms, full of envy.

Wanyan He was casually chatting with Long Jing at the door.

Yang Xiao and Wanyan Hong came out.

Wanyan Hong, the head of the Flying Leopard Empire Chess Institute, knew Long Jing. They nodded their heads and exchanged greetings.

”Hello, President Hong.”

”Oh, Princess Jing, hello.”

Wanyan Hong pulled Wanyan He aside and said:

”Your Highness, I want to grab something to eat at the restaurant downstairs; I’m hungry. Why don’t you come with me?”

Wanyan He was taken aback and said:

”Didn’t we just eat? Why are you hungry again?”

Wanyan Hong gave the Eldest Prince a look, pulled him along, and called the guards inside to leave as well.

The Eldest Prince, Wanyan He, mumbled:

”Sigh, President, why are you pulling me? I’m not hungry at all!”

President Wanyan Hong said gloomily:

”Your Highness, it’s not appropriate for us to stand here while Brother Yang and Princess Jing are having a conversation.”

Wanyan He suddenly understood.

...

Yang Xiao stood at the door, looking at Long Jing,

”You, came?”

Long Jing looked at Yang Xiao and nodded,

”You’re not welcoming me in? Leaving me to stand at the door to talk?”

Yang Xiao was stunned for a moment, quickly stepped aside, and said:

”Please come in.”

Long Jing walked into the room and instructed the two maids to stand at the door.

Outside in the corridor, dozens of people participating in the Go tournament watched as Long Jing entered Yang Xiao’s room alone, each feeling a bit envious.

Long Jing’s beauty and temperament were widely acknowledged, known all throughout Witch Star.

At the end of the corridor stood a handsome and elegant young man, none other than Bai Zetian, the Eldest Prince of the Youming Empire.

Ever since his engagement with Long Jing was canceled, Bai Zetian had been harboring resentment. Standing at the end of the corridor, he looked at the beautiful and noble Long Jing from afar amid the crowd, his heart in turmoil.

She was once his fiancée, but unfortunately, she was pregnant with another man’s child. This humiliation was something he could never forget in his lifetime.

For the sake of saving face, the Youming Empire didn’t announce the reason for the cancellation was Long Jing’s pregnancy but simply stated they had parted amicably due to incompatible personalities.

Long Jing’s affair of having a child with someone else was not a matter of pride for Bai Zetian either, and he could only swallow this humiliation.

Five years had passed, and Bai Zetian thought he could forget Long Jing. But once he saw her, the intertwining love and hatred for Long Jing surged in his heart, causing him deep pain.

Bai Zetian turned and entered a room, closed the door, walked to a table, picked up a cup of slightly cold tea, and downed it in one gulp.

At the side, Bai Ming, the head of the Chess Institute, looked at the Eldest Prince and said lightly:

”Your Highness still can’t forget Princess Long Jing?”

In terms of spiritual power, Bai Ming was Bai Zetian’s mentor. They had a close relationship, and Bai Ming knew almost everything about Bai Zetian.

Bai Zetian’s expression was gloomy, and he said softly:

”Long Jing brought me disgrace, and after all these years, I still haven’t had the chance to wash away that disgrace.”

”Your Highness, a real man should know how to endure humiliation. Now that the Great Dragon Empire is weak, it’s no longer the strong Ba Wang it once was. Just wait for some time, once the Great Dragon Empire declines, won’t you have the opportunity for revenge?

At that time, you can kill Long Jing or take her back to be your slave for life, serving you. You can humiliate her however you want. Isn’t that delightful?”

Bai Zetian poured himself another cup of tea, drank it in one gulp, and with a slight exertion of his fingers, the teacup turned to dust.

”One day, I will make Long Jing wish for death, to suffer endless torment and humiliation, to repay her for the disgrace she brought me.”

...

Long Jing sat by the table.

Yang Xiao felt a bit embarrassed, paused, and poured a cup of tea for Long Jing.

”Have some tea!”

Long Jing took the cup, smiled faintly,

”Thank you!”

”Jing’er... Princess Jing, is there something you came to find me for?”

Hearing Yang Xiao call her ”Jing’er,” Long Jing felt a warmth inside, but then Yang Xiao immediately corrected himself to call her Princess Jing, which made her quite unhappy.

”Can’t I come find you without a reason?”

Long Jing raised her head, staring directly at Yang Xiao, her gaze sharp as a sword.

When Yang Xiao’s eyes met Long Jing’s, his heart skipped a beat; he quickly looked away and awkwardly smiled:

”Ah, of course you can, we, we,”

Yang Xiao wanted to say ”we are still friends,” but found himself unable to say it.

Just friends?

Maybe not!

Besides, in his heart, Yang Xiao didn’t see Long Jing as just a friend but as a lover. However, for various reasons, he couldn’t express this lover’s identity.

Long Jing saw Yang Xiao’s evasive look, felt a trace of anger inside, and pursued the question:

”We? What kind of relationship do we have?”

”We, I,”

Yang Xiao looked at Long Jing, unable to speak.

Long Jing, seeing Yang Xiao’s awkwardness, felt a softness in her heart and softly said:

”If I didn’t come to find you, would you never come to find me? Even if you saw me, would you pretend not to know me?”

Yang Xiao’s heart skipped a beat, immediately looking up at Long Jing, and said urgently:

”No, that’s not true. I, I went to the Heavenly Dragon Academy to find you last time, but you, didn’t you refuse to see me and even said you didn’t know me.”

Long Jing: ”...”

The last time Yang Xiao went to the Heavenly Dragon Academy to find Long Jing, Long Jing’s maid refused him without consulting Long Jing herself and even said, ”I don’t know him; I won’t see him.”

At that time, Yang Xiao did feel somewhat saddened and lost.

Long Jing looked at Yang Xiao, wanting to smile but unable to, while also feeling internally bothered, and she stared at Yang Xiao, retaliating:

”Since when have you been so principled and obedient? Just because I said I don’t know you and wouldn’t see you, you truly took it seriously? So why didn’t you listen to me when I told you not to kill Headmaster Long Kui, not to kill the War God?”

”I.....”

Yang Xiao suddenly realized that Long Jing was acting a bit unusually today, as if she wasn’t being quite reasonable!

”What do you mean by ’I’?’

Long Jing rolled her eyes at Yang Xiao, grabbed the teacup from the table, and drank a large gulp.

”Not being reasonable at all!”

Yang Xiao murmured under his breath.

”I’m just being unreasonable; you just realized that now?”

Long Jing poured herself another cup of tea, also giving Yang Xiao a sidelong glance.

Yang Xiao suddenly recalled a timeless truth:

Never try to reason with a woman, especially a beautiful one.

If that beautiful woman is your lover, it’s even more unwise to reason, otherwise, you’ll end up looking very bad.
