Bloodline Plant Lord: Rise of the World Sovereign

They came around the corner in a frantic sprint.

Kaelen led the way, his left sleeve torn to shreds; the arm underneath was wrapped in messy, blood-soaked bandages. Iris was right on his heels, a nasty burn across her cheek still knitting itself back together. Yuelan and Yueying followed, the former’s coat hanging in strips while the latter favored a battered right leg. Vesper brought up the rear, her void-cat Mistwhisker pressed tight against her shoulder. Eira was the last, her medic kit already splayed open in her hands.

They hit the brakes the moment they stepped into Ren’s presence.

It wasn’t a synchronized movement. Kaelen stopped first—he was at the front, and he processed raw power the way most people read expressions. His momentum shattered instantly. Iris pulled up, and then the rest followed, rippling to a halt as the energy filling the corridor washed over them.

It wasn’t just raw magnitude. They had felt him be stronger before—at the Cup, during his dual-law displays, and every other threshold he’d crossed since they met. This was fundamentally different. The Planar Energy weaving through his aura was an exotic current their channels simply couldn’t manufacture. It was an influx from beyond the plane itself. The gulf between where they stood and where he resided wasn’t just a number; it was a categorical shift in existence.

Tier 1 and Tier 2 are not the same world.

Three seconds of absolute silence stretched thin. In that stillness, the gravity of the scene took hold: the mangled, dissolving remains of the apex hostile scattered across the floor, still evaporating into mist. Lyra was slumped against the far wall, her breathing ragged but rhythmic, with Selene kneeling by her side. Cassian sat nearby, arms draped over his knees, his expression eerily calm as he watched it all.

Eira broke the spell. She hurried over to Lyra without a word, her scanner active and her kit ready. Pure, professional reflex—triage the worst first.

”Void contamination, burnt-out circuits,” Selene said, her voice clipped and clinical. ”But her channels are holding. She needs a proper healer, and soon.”

Eira checked her readings twice before beginning her work, her movements precise.

Yuelan stared at the pile of dissolving monster meat, then at Ren, then back again. ”You did that?”

”Yeah.”

”One hit?”

”Yeah.”

Her face twitched between genuine shock and the dry, cynical humor she wore like a suit of armor. The humor won, though it was a close call. ”You are going to be absolutely insufferable.”

Iris had made her way to Cassian. She knelt beside him, and for just a fraction of a second, the aristocratic composure slipped—a flash of raw, human panic—before she locked it back into place. ”Status report.”

Cassian looked at her with the weary detachment of a man who’d already digested the worst possible news and was now just waiting for the fallout. ”Channels are completely gone. Overloaded while blocking a burst meant for Lyra.” His voice didn’t waver. That steadiness was the most painful part. ”Not the temporary kind, either. They’re fried for good.”

A different kind of silence descended on the hall. It was heavier than before.

Yueying shut her eyes. Yuelan’s smirk vanished. Vesper gripped Mistwhisker harder, but the cat didn’t even phase. She remained solid, warm, and stubbornly present, just like she did whenever reality decided to get ugly.

Ren felt the weight of it crush his chest. Cassian—the guy who brewed undrinkable tea, obsessed over threat matrices, and jokingly called himself the ”Warden of the Idiot.” The guy who stood guard outside locked doors and sat in total silence when silence was the only thing Ren actually needed. His cultivation was gone. Those internal pathways that had once channeled the foundation of a Bloodline Plant Lord were dark, and they were never coming back.

”Don’t.” Cassian’s voice cut through the brewing gloom. He was staring straight at Ren. ”I can see the ’math’ face. I blocked for Lyra because that’s what the tactical position required. It wasn’t some grand sacrifice—it was a strategic choice. Don’t turn me into a tragedy while I’m still breathing.”

Nobody dared argue. Cassian had always been the one who saw things clearly enough to call a spade a spade.

Kaelen hadn’t budged. He remained standing in the corridor, his arm weeping blood, his face a mask of cold Voss discipline. He looked at Ren with a gaze Ren had never encountered before. It wasn’t rivalry. It wasn’t the cold assessment of a fighter measuring a target.

”World Creation.” His voice was flat and precise, but his jaw was locked tight.

”Yeah.”

”How long since you hit Seedling?”

”Couple hours. Maybe three.”

Kaelen gave a single, sharp nod. Something in his eyes mirrored his reaction after the Cup—that internal recalculation of what the new reality demanded. He had broken through to Seedling on the tournament platform, the first of the seven to reach Stage 4, and he’d held onto that pride in the quiet, stoic way the Voss did. Now, Ren had vaulted across the divide that the cultivation ladder labeled near-impossible. Tier 1 peak to Tier 2. The most brutal leap a BPL could attempt. Kaelen was years away from this. All of them were.

”Good,” Kaelen said. Just the one word. He meant every letter of it.

The silent promise of ’I’ll catch up’ hung between them, unspoken but deafening. They both heard it anyway.

Yueying stepped forward. She walked with a limp, and she didn’t bother hiding it. She studied Ren the same way she had when she first opened up about the Azure archives—steady, perceptive, reading something in his energy that went far deeper than raw stats.

”The inheritance will answer you now,” she murmured. Only he was meant to hear it. ”That was the final door.”

Ren nodded. He knew.

Yuelan walked up until she was barely two feet away. Her coat was in rags, a smear of dried blood stained her temple, and she carried the exhausted aura of someone who had spent thirty minutes fighting hell and survived purely on the refusal to quit.

”This is the part where I’m supposed to give a stirring speech about how we’re still a team,” she said. ”About how the gap doesn’t matter and we’ll stand with you regardless.”

”Is that what you’re saying?”

”I’m saying it’s true, and it’s stupid that it even needs to be said.” She punched his good shoulder with a fist that was still trembling from the adrenaline. ”You jumped to Tier 2 in four and a half months. Your energy feels like standing inside a hurricane. And yet, you’re still the same guy who gorged on a whole tray of pastries the night before the finals.” She was grinning, but her eyes were glassy. ”We were always going to be behind you, Ren. We knew it at Sprout. We knew it at the Cup. This is just the numbers getting a bit bigger.”

”It got a lot bigger.”

”Then we just run faster.” She said it with the casual certainty of someone telling the universe to deal with it.

Vesper approached last. Mistwhisker had migrated from her shoulder into her arms, and the cat was fixed on Ren with wide, unblinking eyes. She was completely solid. No phasing, no shimmering, no doubt.

”She only does that for Tier 2s,” Vesper whispered. ”She’s never done it for someone she actually likes before.”

Mistwhisker let out a single, flat meow—a blunt, declarative sound, like a formal objection to the emotional intensity of the room.

Then Iris. She hadn’t said a word since Cassian spoke. She had moved from his side to the wall right next to Ren, standing close enough that their shoulders brushed. That deliberate, almost-contact had become their own secret language.

She looked at him the same way she had in the arena when his dual-law output was revealed. No shock. No frantic recalculation.

’I knew exactly what you were. I’m still here.’

”You’re going to need someone to tell you the truth when you start getting it wrong,” she said. Her voice was quiet, level, and entirely devoid of awe. ”That job doesn’t require Tier 2.”

”Applying for the position?”

”I started months ago. You just haven’t filed the paperwork yet.”

A soft sound came from the wall. Lyra—eyes half-open, Eira still tending to her wounds. She couldn’t feel his energy like the others; her channels were too damaged, everything dampened. But she could see the scene. The broken monster. The lingering, soft green-gold glow where his Life-law had pulled her back from the threshold of death.

She raised a single hand. It was weak, shaking, but clear. A thumbs up.

Her eyes drifted shut as her hand fell, and Eira hissed at her to stop moving.

Yuelan let out a sharp laugh. Cassian shook his head. Something inside Ren’s chest—something that had nothing to do with cultivation, tiers, or the insurmountable gap between them—finally cracked open.

Selene stood up from Lyra’s side and let Eira take full control. She had seen enough.

The boy who had walked into Orien four and a half months ago had been a guarded loner hoarding secrets he couldn’t share. The cultivator standing in this hall was an entirely different order of being—Tier 2, World Creation, dual-law mastery, a budding inner world siphoning energy from the Boundless Ocean of Planes. The gulf between him and his peers was the widest the cultivation ladder could ever produce within a single generation.

And yet, not one of them had taken a step back.

Kaia pulsed through his inner world—warm, deep, and ancient. It was the same sensation she’d broadcast when Cassian insisted on staying by his side in that hospital room months ago. She remembered the people who chose him, even when she didn’t have the words for them. Especially then.

’Not alone. Just ahead.’

Ren looked at his cohort—battered, bloodied, one of them broken, one of them fading, all of them standing—and finally allowed himself to feel the weight of what they had chosen. It wasn’t because Tier 2 made him valuable. It wasn’t because his World Creation made him a powerhouse. It was because they had walked into that sealed room together on the first day and hadn’t stopped walking since.

Deep inside his inner world—twelve square miles of rough, stable, unfinished soil—the shape at the center was still unfolding. Roots were threading through earth that Kaia had claimed as her own, pushing upward toward a sky that seemed to stretch into infinity. He still couldn’t decipher what it was.

But whatever it grew into, these were the people it was growing for.

”Okay,” Ren said, his voice grounding them all. ”Who else needs Eira?”
