Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

”Bai Jin, with your strength, it’s not difficult to beat the next enemy and the one after that.

The challenge lies in facing the [Broken Wind Style] sisters in the fifth round.

For a Magician facing such a high-speed, assassin-type Swordsman, the margin for error is very small. One wrong move could lead to step-by-step mistakes.

The Broken Wind Style also has some particularly tricky Skills.

I’ve written down the Skills to watch out for, try to think about how to counter them more often.”

Yang Yu had once faced off against Aslit, and knew well the difficulty of the Broken Wind Style.

Originally, Yang Yu thought Qiuye Doreen could confidently advance smoothly, but after watching two of Aslit’s matches, Yang Yu changed his mind.

For some reason, Aslit’s attributes had surged, even surpassing her sister, and she won the first two matches more cleanly than Wind Snatching.

Qiuye Doreen had always been known as the top genius of the [Broken Wind Style], but Yang Yu had never seriously crossed swords with her and didn’t know her true strength.

If the two sisters were to really fight, the result would be quite uncertain.

Regardless of the grudge between the two sisters, Bai Jin must face the [Broken Wind Style].

”Hmm. I will be careful. You’ve done a lot of training with me before, I know how to deal with it. Don’t worry too much.”

Bai Jin boldly sat next to Yang Yu, leaning on him.

She knew the Dragon Race Essence was very important to Yang Yu, even determining the intensity of their future adventures.

She was happy to be placed in a different bracket.

If both worked hard in their own brackets, the chance of obtaining the Dragon Race Essence would double.

Besides having more opportunities, Bai Jin had her own little selfish reason.

As a girl, Bai Jin occasionally longed to show off in front of her lover, to display her good side and receive praise.

But Bai Jin was not good at cooking, nor at dressing up.

She had once secretly used the makeup methods taught by Latis, and tried to learn cooking skills from girls she studied with at the All Things Library. But... Bai Jin made a complete mess of everything.

The only thing Bai Jin could present was her Magic.

She wanted to use her Magic to do more for Yang Yu, to earn his approving gaze.

Fighting solo in the Dragon God Conference was a perfect opportunity to showcase herself.

Bai Jin was full of confidence for the upcoming Dragon God Conference.

Time flew by, and the next day came.

The third round of the Dragon God Conference officially began, and as usual, Yang Yu was the first to take the stage.

His opponent for the third round was also quite formidable, ranked third on the Genius List, the genius Holy Knight from the Sethis Kingdom, Bosius Mallin.

Bosius Mallin was born into a Duke’s family in Sethis, and is a rare [Person Blessed by Holy Light lv.9].

At seven, his Holy Light potential became apparent, and by nine, he was studying at a major temple of the Goddess Sect, returning skilled at fifteen, and served as the guard for the King of Sethis ever since.

Before the Sage’s prophecy of the Demon King’s descent, he was always favored by the King of Sethis.

The King even considered having him marry a certain eccentric Princess, but he politely declined with various reasons.

With his status, such a marriage would be considered a perfect match.

Yang Yu had previously faced off against Holy Light Knights.

As the match began, Yang Yu used his experience from those encounters to his full advantage.

After several exchanges, Bosius Mallin couldn’t gain any advantage from Yang Yu.

Bosius Mallin immediately realized the man in front of him was extraordinary. He focused intently, continually thinking of strategies, and at the right time, used Holy Light Healing to resist Yang Yu’s damage.

Yang Yu lacked Bai Jin’s [Healing Forbidden], and without Iyas’s buffs, maintaining his blood volume and continuously reducing the opponent’s blood volume against such a restorative Profession was crucial.

Soon, the battle turned into a tug-of-war.

A prolonged battle was the domain where Bosius Mallin excelled.

At first, when Bosius Mallin realized Yang Yu was also prepared for a long-drawn battle, he was secretly pleased. Since his Holy Light couldn’t attack Yang Yu, he’d wear him down by dragging it out.

But as time went on, Bosius Mallin felt something was amiss. The opponent seemed to have endless stamina, slowly penetrating his Defense with the perseverance of dripping water piercing stone.

The enemy grew more determined as the fight went on, and choosing a prolonged battle with Yang Yu was his worst decision.

When he came to, Bosius Mallin was already standing at the edge of the arena.

Yang Yu used the attributes accumulated passively and the burst of Strength from [Breaking Cauldrons and Sinking Boats] to shatter the platform, causing Bosius Mallin to fall to the ground, deciding the match.

Bosius Mallin dusted off his armor and shook his head.

Truly, there’s always someone stronger.

Though he had never missed a day of training, ever since becoming the King’s guard, he couldn’t pursue strength as he did before...

Frankly accepting his defeat, Bosius Mallin extended his hand to Yang Yu with knightly spirit, thanking him for the lesson.

After smoothly securing another victory, Yang Yu smiled and shook Bosius Mallin’s hand, engaging in some casual mutual appreciation.

After completing the third round, Yang Yu slowly exited the arena.

In the corridor, Yang Yu encountered Vorquis heading to his next match.

Vorquis grumbled discontentedly, ”That was quite a lengthy match.

I was waiting in the rest area for about an hour.

If it were me against him, it wouldn’t have taken so long.

Plus, ending in that way rather than winning outright...

This wasn’t the first time, nor the previous time...

You really are quite the slick operator.”

Yang Yu didn’t stop walking, ”It’s all within the rules. Winning is what matters to me.

Don’t forget our agreement; we should be facing off the day after tomorrow, so think about how I’ll make you lose and keep the match from being boring.

....Your next opponent is strong, I hope you take him seriously and use all your might to defeat him.

Otherwise, you might not advance.”

”You don’t need to tell me, I know. He’s ultimately just a slightly stronger minor character; currently, I’m definitely capable of defeating him, you just need to clean your neck and wait for me.”

With that, Vorquis shot a determined glance at Yang Yu, quickly stepping onto the platform to greet his next opponent.

Yang Yu didn’t hurry back to Bai Jin and the others. Instead, he sat in the resting area, watching Heroic Warrior Vorquis’ third-round match.
