Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

”After we revealed the truth, that king couldn’t accept the result at all, and eventually went mad.

But going mad didn’t exempt him from punishment; he was hanged on the gallows.

The queen, who was in prison, also hanged herself upon hearing the news.

She did nothing wrong, yet still met a tragic end.

She remained chaste, wanted to protect her daughter, and didn’t want to impose blame on the Beastmen....

In the end, her lover doubted her, and all Subhumans were persecuted.

Afterwards, the human countries began to divide up Chun Lan, which was leaderless.

Using the issues of benefit distribution among humans in Chun Lan, the Subhumans, who were once in crisis, had a chance to breathe and formed a more powerful army.

Thus, the Wansheng Country was established.”

Gazing at Yang Yu, he punctuated the story, and Ming Dalak continued to explain the reasoning for the war:

”Originally, I thought that after such events, humans would gradually recognize themselves and forever remember that foolish history.

But somehow, that history has completely disappeared from their records...

The human nations picked up those boring prophecies again, instigating wars, aiming to destroy us Subhumans.

Clearly, if they remembered that history, countless tragedies on the battlefield could be avoided...

I began to ponder why it became this way.

Eventually, I recognized the ugliness of humans...

This race of humans always considers themselves superior.

Therefore, they refuse to admit that they, too, are of Subhuman descent.

The ’noble’ humans, of course, couldn’t be involved with any ’lowly’ Subhumans; they have always been ’pure-blooded’.

Claiming that human wisdom is unique in this world, that the human race is different, that humans are a race created by the blessings of gods...

They have consistently elevated themselves to satisfy their pitiful vanity.

Since they do not want to acknowledge the Subhuman blood in their veins, excluding them from my plans is entirely reasonable.”

Ming Dalak showed no expression, but his anger seeped into Yang Yu’s ears through his words.

Yang Yu was unmoved and said:

”I somewhat understand.

After all, you also hold biases against humans, just like some humans hold biases against Subhumans.

I ask you, now how are you different from the King in the story you told?

Ming Dalak, in the end, you’ve become the very person you despise.”

Clenching his fists, Ming Dalak glared at Yang Yu, rare anger appearing on his face,

”You truly speak from a place of comfort, saying I’m like him; what do you even know?”

”Then, what do you know about me?” Yang Yu retorted.

He did not back down, meeting Ming Dalak’s gaze.

Momentarily, Ming Dalak could not answer this question, as he knew very little about Yang Yu.

Yang Yu consistently did things that surprised him, making it difficult to grasp Yang Yu’s true intentions.

Even here, in a face-to-face conversation, Ming Dalak could not discern what Yang Yu was thinking about or planning.

”Governor Ming Dalak, I have a question for you...

You know I’m human, yet why do I help you from the standpoint of the Subhumans without reservation, even slaughtering many and opposing the Luo Ze Empire?”

This question left Ming Dalak momentarily unsure how to respond.

Sympathy? Wealth? Redemption?

Or perhaps... strength?

Whichever it was, Ming Dalak felt Yang Yu would dismiss it outright.

Yang Yu smiled and said: ”Governor Ming Dalak, not only me, but you also received reports about people from the Luo Ze Empire risking execution for treason in the harsh cold to save Beastmen, didn’t you?

In the past, you overcame numerous obstacles, large and small, to reveal the truth.

Was there indirect or direct assistance from humans?

Were those humans seeking redemption?

In my view, they were not.

They had no bias and truly regarded you as equals.

Your lives had no distinction of high or low, noble or base; they simply wanted to save for the sake of saving.

Should such people, as you said, be excluded and eradicated?

”

An elderly figure carrying a half-beast girl emerged in Ming Dalak’s mind.

Ming Dalak clenched his fist tighter, unable to refute.

It was because of the aid of several wise and brave humans that their plans finally came to fruition.

”Ming Dalak, many people just want to live peacefully.

As long as they have enough to eat and their own small piece of land, they are quite approachable, and their capacity to accept is stronger than you might imagine.

Don’t mistake the true enemy.

You should target those who incite war, recklessly alter history for their vested interests and subsequent gains, rather than generalizing and casting hatred over an entire race.

You’ve merely chosen the simplest way, attempting a blanket solution, seeking an easy end to it all.

This is the most irresponsible action.

Ming Dalak, you’ve said so much.

Now, it’s time I tell you my true thoughts.

All your efforts, in reality, are just you making a wedding dress for others...”

Afterwards, Yang Yu disclosed to Ming Dalak the truth about the Demon King hidden by the humans, how he realized Enchanting Demons had infiltrated the Luo Ze Empire, and how he determined the plan step by step and executed it.

Yang Yu shared nearly all of his thoughts and ideas with Ming Dalak without reservation.

As Ming Dalak listened, his clenched hand gradually relaxed, and he started to genuinely listen to Yang Yu’s eloquent words until Yang Yu provided the conclusion:

”The plan on the Luo Ze Empire’s side is progressing even more smoothly than I anticipated.

Now, whether to continue the war depends on you.

I was not joking before; if you stand on the opposite side, I won’t show mercy.

As for seeking out powerful individuals to kill me, feel free.

We’ve talked about almost everything we need to.”

Yang Yu had Lotcar open its mouth and took out a square box, and the tape inside had just finished winding.

Pressing the rewind button, Yang Yu rewound the tape in the recorder to the beginning and pressed play. Soon, the faint sound of Yang Yu and Ming Dalak’s conversation played.

Even though it was faint, the entire conversation was clear.

Ming Dalak knew this was something Yang Yu obtained from an ancient site that could record sound.

Yang Yu had secretly recorded the entirety of their conversation without his knowledge.

If he guessed correctly, Yang Yu intended to use the recording for something.

Truly, from start to finish, he couldn’t see through him.

”What I wanted to obtain, I have now obtained.

I will hand over this piece of history to the Luo Ze Empire.

How many will believe it, I don’t know.

But at least it’s a step forward, isn’t it?

Be more open-minded; this world is not as bad as you imagine.”

Placing the cassette and recorder into the system, Yang Yu climbed onto Lotcar,

”Think slowly about what you truly want to do, I have other matters to attend to, so I won’t accompany you.”

”Your persistent stubbornness won’t change anything no matter how much you are persuaded.”

After speaking, Yang Yu patted Lotcar’s back, and Lotcar stepped forward, leaping over the walls of the Blood Lion Mansion.

As he watched Yang Yu depart, Ming Dalak looked up, gazing at the azure sky, and said self-mockingly:

”I’m truly useless. If it were them, how would they have answered?”
