Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Sitting steadily, Yang Yu broke the silence with a simple greeting:

”Bai Jin, are you feeling better?”

Channeling the magic power within her body, Bai Jin didn’t notice anything unusual.

She slightly raised her head, looking at Yang Yu through the gap in her bangs, but deliberately avoided his face.

”I think, it should be fine.

That day...”

Bai Jin hesitated, wanting to speak but stopping.

She was afraid of hearing things she didn’t want to hear from Yang Yu’s mouth.

If it weren’t for her, the Curse Sect wouldn’t have targeted Yang Yu; if it weren’t for her, Yang Yu wouldn’t have fallen into crisis several times...

She had already accomplished what she needed to do, but the tasks for Yang Yu were still unfinished.

Initially, Yang Yu helped her in order to gain her strength.

Unable to be useful, only bringing various troubles to the team, becoming a burden...

Is this not putting the cart before the horse?

”What happened that day was unavoidable; no one expected him to possess such abilities...

I say...”

Yang Yu straightened his posture, his tone unusually serious, even Iyas on the side couldn’t help but sit upright, ready not to miss a single word Yang Yu said.

With an extremely earnest look, Yang Yu spoke:

”Bai Jin, after this skirmish, you should know how dangerous the road ahead will be.

We don’t know what kind of enemy we will encounter in the future, nor do we have any means of knowing what strange abilities they might possess.

Rescuing you, I’ve already done my utmost.

The journey ahead is far more perilous than imagined.

If a similar situation occurs next time, perhaps, it truly could mean death.

Bai Jin, you’ve walked the edge of death once.

If you’re scared, you can choose to leave now, I won’t blame you...”

Hearing Yang Yu say this, Bai Jin once again tightly grasped her collar,

”Why say such things...

Is it really because my strength is still insufficient?

If at that time I could detect his approach... could have been more useful...

I admit, even now, I am still very afraid.

The feeling from that day lingers in my mind, unable to be dispelled...

It’s a rather unpleasant feeling...

Everything is clearly in front, yet I see nothing... alone, falling into darkness...

This feeling, I don’t want to experience a second time.

But being afraid doesn’t mean I will retreat.

Death is terrifying...

But until now, how many times have we brushed past the Death God...

I know I am weak, and there are times I’m not useful, but even so, I wish to become strong...

Why subtly persuade me to leave this way?

If there are deficiencies, tell me clearly, I will surely improve, and do better than now.

Therefore... therefore... therefore...”

Bai Jin’s voice grew quieter, until it completely disappeared, unable to speak that sentence.

Yang Yu helplessly scratched his head, he didn’t hear the words he wanted to hear.

Bai Jin, oh Bai Jin, you didn’t understand my meaning, your focus went entirely to the last sentence.

In these two years of being together, Bai Jin has changed a lot, but some things are still hard to change.

More than death, what Bai Jin fears, in truth, is being left behind, afraid of never seeing them again.

Clearly, they’ve been together for so long, she knows we wouldn’t abandon her, yet she still shows such a timid expression.

Even now, is Bai Jin wondering, can she really enjoy all this with a clear conscience?

Yang Yu stood up, suddenly flicked Bai Jin’s forehead strongly.

Bai Jin, in pain, promptly covered her forehead.

This unexpected flick on the forehead instantly dispelled the oppressive atmosphere.

Yang Yu plopped back onto the chair, laughing:

”Sorry, my earlier way of speaking was a bit problematic.

Our opponent is the Demon King.

Even if we don’t seek him, he will still come for us.

Without the determination to die, there’s no way to defeat the Demon King.

My team doesn’t need those who flee in fear of death at crucial moments.

But also, no one is born without fear of death.

Feeling fear of death is natural.

Because some can confront the fear of death for certain things, take a step forward, they forge one miracle after another.

Once you realize there is something more important than death, your heart will naturally overcome fear, becoming stronger.”

This time, what Yang Yu said was clear enough, Bai Jin slowly lowered her hand from her forehead, her eyes glistening with tears,

”Can someone as weak as me really do it...”

Yang Yu spoke:

”Imagine, I and the others, Iyas, are in crisis, only your magic can save us.

But, using that magic means you will die, what will you do?

As expected, you would still choose to use it, right?

So, it can be done. It surely can be done.”

Bai Jin wiped her eyes, only to find the tears increasing as she wiped,

”Clearly you could have more excellent choices, can someone like me, who always bothers you, really stay by your side?”

”Bai Jin, I’ve seen all of your efforts so far with my own eyes.

Two years ago, you were a magician who struggled even with goblins, but....

Think carefully about the previous battles, you have become strong enough.”

Yang Yu smiled and patted Bai Jin’s head,

”The reason I asked those questions was because I was worried about you all.

To be honest, I also considered, from now on, whether to leave you guys and act alone.

The road ahead is full of thorns, we don’t know what dangers lie ahead.

But truly.... it’s not possible.

In the end, I’m just a mortal, with limited time and energy, it’s impossible to master everything.

The same goes for all of you.

Precisely because I’ve realized everyone’s limitations, I formed this team.

Iyas is a skilled archer and uses Holy Light, yet she is completely a fool.

Lotcar is proficient in transportation and melee attacks, yet lacks long-range countermeasures.

He Meng excels at defense, but because of his race, his offensive capabilities are extremely weak.

As for you, you too have the qualities of a magician.

Everyone has strengths and weaknesses, complementing each other, and only then can you exert two hundred percent of your power.

If Iyas had been there at that time, we probably would have had that guy pinned to the ground by now...

The following words are just my selfishness.

I hope you can overcome your fear of death and continue to stay with us.

Finding another magician can’t achieve the seamless cooperation you have with us.”

Feeling the warmth from Yang Yu’s hand, Bai Jin raised her head to see Yang Yu smiling softly at her.

She couldn’t help but get up from the bed, half-kneeling while leaning towards Yang Yu standing by the bed, her forehead resting on Yang Yu’s chest, her arms wrapping around Yang Yu’s waist, unable to control her tears anymore.

Yang Yu gently embraced Bai Jin, allowing her to cry in his arms.

Seeing this scene, Iyas carefully moved her steps.

As an archer, her intuition told her she was in the way here.

She tiptoed to the door, wanting to give the two some private space.

However....
