Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Even though there were some complaints, Vorquis still decided to endure it and have his team take a strength assessment to get better-paying jobs.

Before leaving the Village of Heroes, the Great Sage gave Vorquis a large sum of startup funds.

Vorquis had always been a big spender, and with a glutton in the team and an extremely costly Magic Potion Maker...

That startup fund was soon squandered by Vorquis, and relying on system tasks alone was far from enough.

With the addition of Priest Tara, the already financially struggling team had an even harder time.

The kind of creature like a big-sister-next-door loves cute little things.

To make Tara smile, Vorquis would buy cute, but practically useless trinkets with money.

This was an investment that allowed him to be tenderly held in the arms of a big sister; Vorquis was willing to spend.

In order to show his care for the members, Vorquis even pawned his own equipment to raise emergency funds.

The Dragon God Conference was imminent, and Princess Eena and company discussed selling some belongings to retrieve Vorquis’ equipment.

The Dragon God Conference values personal strength and, besides recovery Potions, essentially doesn’t restrict the tools or equipment for participants.

Without handy weapons, his strength was greatly reduced, unable to excel at the Dragon God Conference.

Vorquis was greatly moved, but immediately pawned the equipment that Princess Eena had retrieved to buy gifts for his companions—a very baffling move.

Princess Eena was visibly angry.

Voxley said that equipment could be found again, but if their smiles were lost, they could never be regained.

Besides, he only valued the Holy Sword and Holy Armor.

Other equipment was just transitional, not worth cherishing.

When asked by Princess Eena how to handle the Dragon God Conference, Vorquis said most equipment comes from the Underground Maze, where there are solutions.

Thus, Vorquis led his team to attempt strategies for the Underground Maze.

But conquering the Underground Maze was a bit different from what Vorquis imagined.

He thought his immense strength would allow him to breeze through it, securing the desired equipment.

However, the maze guards and final boss often had special mechanisms that couldn’t be overcome by brute force alone.

Several times, Vorquis was beaten into self-doubt.

What the heck? My stats are so high, how come I can’t beat it? Is the maze designer nuts?

There’s plenty of experience, sure, but without dropping equipment, what’s the point of fighting?

In the end, Vorquis only managed to conquer a few small mazes, powerless against medium ones, and the dropped equipment was just junk.

The equipment wasn’t worth much money, and he’s no businessman, so Vorquis had no choice but to register as an adventurer, take tasks, and barely maintain the appearance of living.

It’s been over a year since leaving the Luo Ze Empire, and Vorquis has traveled to many places resolving various incidents.

He also vaguely sensed his own limitations.

Yet Vorquis’ subconscious still refused to accept it.

He believed his current predicament was surely because he wasn’t strong enough yet.

As long as he became unrivaled in strength, all problems would be solved.

If only there were a Level 999 opportunity, he could immediately soar high.

Grinding levels himself is ultimately too slow, hence Vorquis’ growing irritation.

Vorquis decided to accumulate some funds and join the so-called Dragon God Conference, then pursue quick leveling methods.

A few minutes later, the receptionist chuckled and said,

”Registration complete, everyone’s levels are confirmed.

Judging begins now...

Congratulations, you’ve been judged as an A-Class adventure group. To complete registration, you’ll need to undergo a test.

Please proceed.”

”Only A-Class?” Vorquis pouted, displeased with the result.

The receptionist smiled and said, ”To advance to a higher level, you need to accumulate certain achievements.

Don’t be disheartened, it’s quite rare to be rated as A-Class adventure group from the start.

Please decide on the adventure group name, then follow me for testing.”

Feeling a bit better, Vorquis reported his adventure group’s name.

——[Savior Star].

Vorquis had spent a long time deciding on this name.

The receptionist didn’t comment on the name and instead led them for testing.

Vorquis already had S-Class adventurer strength, so passing the test was no problem.

Leaving the testing site with the leader’s badge in hand, Vorquis vaguely felt the adventurer’s guild had gotten much busier than earlier.

”Quite lively today. What’s happening?”

The receptionist casually replied, ”It’s nearly time. The announcement for the new S-Class adventure group is about to happen.”

”What’s the criteria for becoming an S-Class adventure group?”

The receptionist smiled, ”It’s a trivial matter; just look it up, and you’ll quickly find out.”

The receptionist showed some impatience, so Vorquis stopped asking.

Vorquis originally intended to go to the empty task board to accept tasks, but out of curiosity, he squeezed into the crowd, eagerly waiting alongside them for the revelation of the new S-Class adventure group.

As time ticked away, the white paper pasted on the bulletin board suddenly emitted light and split into several pieces.

The crowd immediately became restless, aware that the announcement was imminent.

Everyone present widened their eyes, staring at the bulletin board, fearing missing this momentous occasion.

The separated papers gradually stopped, covered with a layer of golden light, countless words, and images settling onto the paper with the light.

The first newly-announced S-Class adventure group name appeared as the golden glow faded, revealing character after character before the crowd, thus unveiling the new S-Class adventure group:

[Demon King Brave you damn have the guts don’t run]

Seeing this big name, everyone on-site rubbed their eyes, doubting whether they were mistaken.

A few people looked at each other, pinching their faces to see if someone was dreaming, but came out with stinging cheeks.

There was no mistake, no dream; the new S-Class adventure group was indeed named like that.

Chat erupted among the crowd.

Others had names like [Corpse Collection Coffin] or [Dragon God’s Might], adventure group names that were terse yet had their own flair, why is yours so disappointing?

Not asking for a great name, but at least it should pass.

You are soon to be an S-Class adventure group active in the world, with such a name, how will you introduce yourself in the future?

The audience was impatient, directing their gaze to the first info sheet, eager to see what kind of person could come up with such a name for the adventure group leader.

But as soon as the first info sheet showed text and images, a man with golden hair wearing a red cloak crawled entirely onto the info sheet.
