Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

Faced with the two people’s assist, Bai Jin was at a loss, lowering her head, not daring to look at Yang Yu’s expression.

At some point, her hands had grabbed the hem of her evening gown, she wanted to say something, but her mind was in turmoil.

”Bai Jin, you look beautiful today.”

Hearing Yang Yu’s gentle words, Bai Jin’s tense brows gradually relaxed, joy rising in her heart as she looked up at Yang Yu.

Yet, she saw that Yang Yu’s gaze was not focused on her, but elsewhere.

Was it just perfunctory?

The release Bai Jin had felt turned instantly into a mess of emotions.

Raising his hand to hold his chin, Yang Yu covered his slightly red cheeks, but couldn’t stop his ears from burning.

Initially, he was wondering whether the person by Latis’s side was Bai Jin...

Turns out, it really was.

The aura Bai Jin now exudes was completely different from before, exceedingly cute like a hamster.

Yang Yu was afraid of staring at Bai Jin continuously and having their plan exposed by some Enchanting Demon spies lurking around, so he averted his gaze.

But this act of looking away seemed to have caused Bai Jin’s unease.

Yang Yu wanted to pat Bai Jin’s head and tell her not to worry.

But the situation did not allow it.

To let the plan proceed smoothly, Yang Yu quickly found an excuse:

”The banquet is about to begin, it’s almost time to take our seats.

Bai Jin, I’m sorry.

I have some socializing to do and can’t accompany you to sit.

Have fun today.

Stay safe, I just saw a few playboys around, don’t let them lead you away.

We have a lot of time to spend together in the future, please forgive me this time.”

Saying this, Yang Yu turned and left.

Watching Yang Yu’s back, Bai Jin felt a mix of emotions, wanting to call him back, to let him see her as she was now.

But Bai Jin’s intuition told her that Yang Yu indeed had things to attend to, and perhaps he was planning something, she couldn’t just be willful.

So, in the end, Bai Jin chose to stay put and watch Yang Yu leave.

No matter how much Latis pushed her, telling her not to miss the opportunity, Bai Jin still chose to stay put.

Seeing Yang Yu call back Iyas and apologize to Miss Jin, the worry on Bai Jin’s face didn’t dissipate, she said to Latis:

”He seems so busy....let’s not disturb him for now. Latis, I don’t know anyone else here, could I share a seat with you?”

Latis sulked, ”Says he’s not interested in official positions, yet leaves an important lady.

The most challenging men are the ones who are like blocks of wood.

There’s no choice, try to invite him after dinner.

You still have to break that layer of the window paper, to speak frankly.

Directly give him a shock that he can’t forget you.

Don’t forget what I taught you. You will definitely succeed.”

Bai Jin nodded.

After a while, the banquet began under the Prince’s hosting.

Emperor Luo Hui and a series of notable figures took the stage to give speeches, talking about how hard-earned the current peace is, and how they were manipulated by the Enchanting Demon to commit mistakes.

Most were just formal words, Bai Jin half-heartedly listening, looking at the food on the table without much appetite.

Yang Yu also went up to give a speech, performing remarkably well.

Although Bai Jin couldn’t remember much of what the previous speakers said, she distinctly remembered what Yang Yu said.

Countless memories passed before Bai Jin’s eyes, two years ago, she never dared to imagine being able to dine with such important figures, experiencing the lifestyle of the Nobles.

Initially, Bai Jin thought Yang Yu was just a novice adventurer, thinking she could lead him into the field...

In the end, Yang Yu displayed extraordinary skills...step by step saving her...

And Yang Yu was not afraid, defying that organization, achieving her dream...

Since the beginning, Yang Yu rarely spoke of his plans...worrying her countless times.

This time, was it also a meaningless worry?

Bai Jin couldn’t be certain.

The speeches ended, various entertainment troupes took the stage, performing for amusement.

With bellies full, people left their seats, walking to digest, preparing for the dance to follow.

Stars adorned the sky.

After dinner, Latis signaled Bai Jin to seize the chance quickly.

Seeing Yang Yu in social engagements afterwards, Bai Jin shook her head.

She had already decided to wait until the banquet ended to get a clear answer from Yang Yu.

She chose to trust Yang Yu.

...

...

On the other side, Jin finally started her offense.

The preparations for the ball still had a while to go, and most of the Nobles who had just dined were walking and chatting in the spacious courtyard, to fully enjoy the ball.

The dining hall now had only a few people left.

Feigning shyness, Jin, after a greeting from some noble, intervened in the conversation between Yang Yu and the Nobles:

”Uh... Your Highness Yang Yu...

I have something I need your help with, something hard to speak of...

Don’t get me wrong, it’s nothing strange.

Can we talk...

Just the two of us, alone.”

Yang Yu hesitated for a moment, scanning the nearly empty hall, and pretended to let his guard down, agreeing with an ”Okay,” then followed Jin to the corridor.

At the corridor corner, Jin, looking flustered, threw herself into Yang Yu’s arms, teary-eyed, ”Your Highness Yang Yu, what should I do?

Actually, I’m not very good at dancing.

With so many people here this time, I’m very uneasy, I’m sure I’ll mess it up.

Can you practice with me before the ball starts?

I’m begging you, I really can’t find anyone else to help...”

Yang Yu first pretended to be startled, then hesitantly declined:

”I was born a Civilian, and I’m not good at dancing either...”

”It’s okay, when I was learning to dance, I always wanted to follow the man’s moves...

Instead, I remember the man’s moves more clearly.

When you practice with me, I can correct your mistakes too, we can both benefit from practicing...why not try?” Jin asked again.

After pondering for a moment, Yang Yu finally ”half-heartedly” agreed: ”Since Miss Jin says so, I’m willing to practice with you.”

Jin smiled in relief: ”Really, thank you so much.

If our practice is seen in the corridor, it’d be a bit embarrassing.

I’ve been to this mansion before, and I know a few quiet places with no interruptions.

I really don’t want anyone to see my blunders.....

So...

Is it okay?”

”Hmm...since Miss Jin insists, there’s no helping it.

It seems my partner is still upset, so avoiding them is good.”

Yang Yu nodded in agreement, following Jin through the corridors to an outdoor balcony with a beautiful view.

Stars sparkled on the balcony, and the places where people walked were far from this location. The distant light and the corridor’s lamps could illuminate the entire balcony, making it an excellent spot to practice dancing.

Yang Yu gracefully half-bowed, raising his hand, extending an invitation to Jin:

”Beautiful and charming Miss Jin, may I have the honor of dancing a waltz with you?”
