Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

The time was almost up. Yang Yu exchanged a greeting with Chilom, changed into formal attire in the dressing room, and headed to the venue.

Nobles and wealthy merchants started to enter successively.

The sun gradually set, casting a gentle orange hue over the banquet.

With some time left before the banquet began, the merchants and nobles who had arrived early engaged in conversation, and if they happened to get along well, they were seated together by the maids.

Adjusting his tie and dressed in a suit, Yang Yu stepped into the hall.

Upon his entrance, he immediately became the center of attention.

Many people approached to chat, eager to acquaint themselves with this promising young man.

However, many also remained indifferent, mostly letting out a cold snort, still holding grudges over Yang Yu’s actions.

At least in the short term, it was difficult to change their prejudice against Yang Yu.

Yang Yu had exposed the Enchanting Demon. Without him, perhaps this country might have been plunged into the Abyss under its influence.

Thus, despite their dissatisfaction, none of them actively sought trouble with Yang Yu.

To be honest, before arriving here, Yang Yu had hoped to encounter an arrogant, pretentious young master, playing out the cliché of ”What, you are the Colorful-haired Masked Man?”.

In the end, his appearance was well-known, and every noble treated him with respect.

The young nobles were exceedingly well-mannered.

At least, every young noble Yang Yu met seemed exceptionally kind.

As for what schemes they harbored within, Yang Yu wasn’t privy to their inner thoughts, making it hard to judge.

Since earlier, Yang Yu had noticed no less than seven young nobles winking at him.

Among them was a noble young master accompanied by two or three female companions and a boy dressed as a girl...

This was ridiculously absurd.

It truly was a world full of wonders.

Yang Yu couldn’t understand why those two males would throw winks his way.

If he had to find a reason, Yang Yu was confident he could come up with ten thousand.

Following Yang Yu as the focus of attention, the next to take the spotlight was General Wolishi’s family.

Calling it a family, Rodriza did not come; it was only Jin accompanying General Wolishi.

Today, Jin was enchanting, like a blooming autumn crocus—graceful and lovely, capturing admiration.

As soon as she appeared, many men’s gazes were fixed upon her and couldn’t look away.

Jin shyly followed behind General Wolishi, arriving in front of Yang Yu.

Stroking his white beard, Wolishi extended a hand towards Yang Yu,

”I didn’t expect we’d meet again this way.

Truly unexpected, your achievements are remarkable.

Though some methods are debatable, I still thank you.”

Reaching out to shake Wolishi’s hand, Yang Yu smiled and said:

”Not at all.

In some aspects, I did fall short.

Back then, I racked my brains but couldn’t find a better way.

Thinking that if I didn’t stop this war, more people would be pushed into the Abyss by the Enchanting Demon...

So I did it.

I’m not particularly virtuous.

If people blame me, I have no complaints.

If blaming me makes them feel better, then let them blame me as much as they need!

But if anyone seeks revenge...

To survive, I won’t show mercy.”

Wolishi stopped stroking his white beard, a knowing smile appearing, ”Indeed, there’s no one quite like the Colorful-haired Masked Man.

Some things really can only be done by you.

You’re the only one who can transcend the shackles of two countries and achieve this.

Yesterday, my little girl troubled you.

But it can’t be helped; throughout history, beauties and heroes have always appreciated each other.”

Yang Yu modestly replied, ”Calling me a hero is too kind.

Yesterday, the snacks Miss Jin made were delicious; it wasn’t any trouble.”

General Wolishi laughed, ”As long as you liked it, I’ll leave some time for you young folks.

Before the banquet starts, have a good chat. I’ll go find a seat first.”

Upon seeing General Wolishi’s arrival, the Prince in charge of the banquet personally came forward, guiding him to the special VIP seats.

Jin politely lifted her skirt slightly and curtsied to Yang Yu. Then, seemingly unsure where to direct her gaze, she lowered her head, blushing, and asked:

”About yesterday’s cookies... were they good? Could you say they were good just once more, please?”

Yang Yu nodded and said, ”They were very good, but my companions were slightly troubled and jealous...”

”Really...” Jin lowered her head, apologizing: ”I’m sorry, because I acted on my own accord, giving you trouble.”

Yang Yu responded with a smile, ”Not at all.

They were troubled and jealous perhaps because the snacks were just too delicious.

Truthfully, no one in my team is skilled at cooking.

They might have been troubled because after tasting such delicious food, no other dessert can satisfy them anymore.

They might be jealous because they don’t have your culinary skills.”

Jin cupped her flushed cheeks, ”Your flattery is too much. Surely, you’ve eaten plenty from Mr. Qilom, my snacks are nowhere near his level, so please, no need to say so much to comfort me!”

Yang Yu scratched his face and said, ”Indeed, there’s no comparing to Mr. Qilom’s cuisine.

But after all, Mr. Qilom is a recognized culinary genius, and it’s tough for ordinary people to compare with him.

What I said is true; excluding what Qilom made, your cooking was the best I’ve tasted.”

Jin beamed sweetly, ”That’s really wonderful! If I get the chance in the future, I’ll invite you to taste it again.”

Yang Yu nodded in agreement, ”Sure, if there’s a chance, I’d love to have it again.”

”Um...” She raised her hand, shyly covering her mouth, tilting her head 45 degrees with delicate bashfulness, ”Um... Your Highness Yang Yu, with your remarkable achievements, the Emperor is sure to grant you a title and fief...

I have an impertinent request...

Could you let me know the address of your fief once you receive the title and land?

That way, I can visit you in the future.”

Yang Yu shook his head and said, ”This request, I cannot agree to. Soon, we may leave this country altogether...”

Jin’s eyes instantly watered, looking like she was on the verge of tears, ”Why? Is there something in this country that you’re unhappy with?”

Yang Yu shook his head again, ”I know little about this country, but it’s not as bad as I imagined.

I possess a wealth of knowledge.

If I stayed, perhaps any barren land could prosper.

But now, I have more important things to do.”

Jin persisted, ”What important things? Can’t you tell me?”

Yang Yu shook his head once more, ”Sorry, I can’t say.

The topic strayed a bit, so let’s talk about something else!”
